much of the deep south. great for the drought situation in georgia. could pick up one to two inches in georgia and savannah. then that main moves off the carolinas. then the storm begins to intensify. this is what really caught everyone's attention last night. one of the more reliable long range computers is going blockbuster for heavy snow. let me show you what our computer is showing. here is new york city. this is where the center of the storm s the north side has the colder air and snow. notice the snow goes from philadelphia which is much further south than what we were thinking yesterday all the way northward up through coastal maine. this area of the darker shading, that's a foot plus of snow from almost all of central and southern new england, almost down to new york city. 6 to 12 south of that. almost down to philly. again, this is an estimate for the long term. this has definitely got our attention. our other long term model brings the equivalent of a powerful nor'easter off cape cod. you get the picture here, veronica. if you have travel plans, we're talking friday aftern

bit there in mississippi. mostly southern alabama and even into georgia. to the southeast, it's a little gloomy and cloudy. beyond that, it's a very quiet weather map once again. the jet stream just doing a big loop here. going all the way up here and then dipping down. that's why all the cold air is on the rockies to the east. this cold blast going through the great lakes and northeast very cold. one of the coldest that we've seen this winter season. right now it's eight degrees in boston. really especially from boston to the green mountains, it is cold. one of the coldest mornings we've seen in a long time. t it's not warm in new york or d.c. either. you have one more cold day to day. then we warm you up. let me take you to the next week. this tracks the cold air. the blue shows where you it's cold right now. that's where the dip in the jet stream was. as we go through the upcoming weekend, we warm up in the midwest. by the middle of next week, all the cold air retreats back into canada. the only exception being northern maine. this is by far looking like this week is one of the

northeast corner of arkansas and then a good chunk of northern alabama, northern georgia, you'll deal with freezing rain during 9 day today. so getting to school, work, no problem, but you could have coating of ice on any elevated surfaces throughout the afternoon. that includes atlanta. so deicing will also cause significant delays. everywhere in white has a chance for some snow. advisory level snow usually means about 1 to 3 inches. on the radar, it's a very wide system, but not strong. not going to be heavy amounts of snow. but the snow will start soon in chicago, snowing in many areas from milwaukee to green bay. and then all of this heads east during the day today. again, not blockbuster snow amounts. at most we're talking in the appalachians possibly 3 to 5 inch, but most areas from philadelphia southwards town through virginia back through ohio, you'll be dealing with the possibility of again 1 to 2 fluffy inches of snow. the weekend forecast looks a lot quieter and also begins to do that warm up. i'll give you that forecast a little later. >>> up next, medical science realizes
