gadi schwartz is following that story for us. a big story down in phoenix. gadi? >> reporter: a couple different perspectives on what's going on here out here. the family says that this is the beginning of donald trump's hard stance on immigration. his hard line with that immigration executive order. however, i.c.e. says this is the result of a judge's order in 2013 and they are committed to removing felonies that are here illegally. but regardless of that, last night was an emotional night for protesters, for family members of guadalupe who gathered here after she was detained in front of the back gate where the deportation vans usually leave. when one of those vans tried to leave that was carrying guadalupe inside, a protester stopped it and blocked it. one person got down into the wheel well and started hugging the tire. as the family went to the back, they stood next to where gud lo g guadalupe was. they told their mother they were with her and today an emotional testament from her daughter saying how hard it is now that her mother has been deported. take a li

that's where we find gadi schwartz. what's the biggest issue that has brought them out today? >> reporter: jacob, it is absolutely issue whiplash out here. you have resist to exist. turn around. what was on the backside? no ban, no wall, not my president. then you just walk down here, this is in support of standing rock. over here in support of the news. you've got all kinds of different issues out here. women's rights issues. we've been talking to people out here about what has driven them to come here on a day that is normally to celebrate presidents, to protest a president. can i ask you a couple quick questions? we're live on msnbc. i want to ask you, what brings you out here today? >> hi, i'm a former refugee. i came to the united states 17 years ago as a refugee from afghanistan. and i'm here for the immigrant community, for the hispanics, for the refugees. i'm here for the lbgtq community. i'm here for everybody. and i'm here for the muslim community. so, i'm here for the women. i'm here for everybody. >> reporter: it's a lot to take in. so many different issues. what d

gadi schwartz has been on this story all day long. gadi? >> reporter: right now we're at the first unitarian society in denver, where the vizguerra family has been seeking refuge, where they were last night when they told us they were contemplating the decision on whether or not jeanette vizguerra should check in at i.c.e. today she made the decision to stay here and made that decision to be with her family after seeing what happened to another family in phoenix that was -- they saw their mother deported. right now, we talked to roberto last night, the son of jeanette. we're here with him today. roberto, i want to ask you, how are you guys doing today? >> we're doing fine, but when we heard about the decision that i.c.e. made that they denied her stay, it really impacted us because we thought it was going to be good news. she was going to stay with us. we were all happy in the morning. when they said that they denied the stay, we got really sad. >> reporter: it's you and your two sisters, right? you guys are now here with your mom? >> yeah.

let's get right to glenn "hurricane" schwartz. time this out for us. >> unfortunately, the worst of this storm looks like it will occur during the morning rush on thursday. that's one of the reasons we've issued the first alert for the entire area except for the jersey shore and the delaware beaches where it may snow but it was likely melt. 4:00 a.m. to noon on thursday, not tomorrow. accumulating snow heavy at times. during the morning rush with slick roads and poor visibility. as we go through the day tomorrow, tomorrow evening, no problems, but overnight tomorrow night and into thursday morning, that's when the cold air's coming down from the north, the moisture comes in from the west and it adds up to a snowy morning rush. 6:00 a.m., the darker blue indicating the heavier snow. so it's accumulating during that period all the way down to central delaware and into much of new jersey. but this is not a long-lasting storm. and by noontime or early afternoon, it is tapering off and moving out, limiting the snow totals to some degre

we'll begin with meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz and the most accurate first alert neighborhood forecast, glenn? >> yeah, jacqueline, the flag is not just blowing strongly, it's blowing left to right. from this angle, that's a cold wind. the opposite way is the warm wind. we'll be getting into that before too long. but it's 28 degrees in philadelphia now. 23 in allentown. that doesn't tell the whole story. because we still have a lot of wind out of the northwest. as you saw with those flags. still gusting at 36 miles an hour in atlantic city. 39 miles an hour in dover. that's not quite as gusty as it was a few hours ago when it was up to 52 miles an hour in cape may. look at what happened here. yesterday at 3:00, it was 66 degrees. remember, records all over the place. by 5:00 this morning, it was feeling like 32. and by 9:00 this morning feeling like 16. that's a 50 degree drop in 18 hours. no wonder it feels freezing cold by the time you go outside. the temperature, as we go through the evening, dropping through the 20s. feels like temperature, dropping to 10 by 11:00 and sing

glenn "hurricane" schwartz. >> we do have some cooler air coming in. you can see the flag blowing. that is from the direction that generally brings colder air and it will be getting colder as we head through the niemt. it's down to 47 in ooemt so that's considerable drop just in the last hour. 54 in philadelphia, 52 in wilmington. wilmington was 60 just a couple of hours ago. so the temperatures are going down. the wind as you can see coming out of the north, northwest and it's not that strong. it's five to ten-mile-per-hour so it's going to take all night to get some of that colder air in. we have clear skies around here just some high thin clouds out to the west. and so tomorrow morning, it's going to be a lot colder than it was this morning. it was 43 in philadelphia this morning. now we're talking about 10 degrees colder by tomorrow morning, a couple spots even getting down into the 20s but then we go right back up and i'll tell you about that in a few minutes. >>> a billboard shaming philadelphia's mayor and top school officials could be on i-95 one week from today. we told yo

let's go to chief meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz. people will have to bundle up for their plans tonight? >> yeah, it was a really cold day today. the high temperature 32. it's about ten degrees below normal. the clouds, though, tonight that's going to be one of the reasons that the temperature is not going to drop very much. 32 in philadelphia now. 28 in allentown. and in coatesville. and that's about as low as it's going to get tonight. but we do have some returns on radar. now just about all of this is not reaching the ground because the low levels of the atmosphere are so dry. but there could be some snow flurries in parts of the higher elevations, especially. that's what the future cast computer is showing us, berks county, but especially the poconos seeing flurries over the next few hours and then it's gone. that's the end of that threat. because the atmosphere is warming up. temperatures going up as we go through the night tonight with the cloudy skies, no significant precipitation expected. different story over the weekend. we
