has won the state of wisconsin. wait a second, where did that come from? where did that come from? right after, ladies and gentlemen, donald trump has won the state of michigan. michigan? it has not been won in 38 years. and now, the gentleman with the map, looking so red. remember the map? there was a lot of blue and he -- it got knocked to hell. i will tell you that. it was pouring red. they said, you cannot break the blue wall. but my candidate, right? -- up by canada, right? we heard this for months. to believe guys like walter cronkite. this is a different world. so we are listening to these people, dishonest as hell, and what happened is they are telling all of us, you cannot break the blue wall. what happens is, not only did we break it, we shattered the hell out of it. right? now we win wisconsin. and now what happens? we win wisconsin, we win michigan. i knew we were going to win michigan, because i was talking about cars going out of michigan and into mexico. i had been talking about it. i got the man of the year award in michigan. and i said, you can let your factories

, pennsylvania, wisconsin, michigan. you have to go back to 1988, the last time we carried pennsylvania. 1984 almost does not count because reagan was carrying 49 out of 50 states, a landslide. the last time a republican presidential candidate carried wisconsin. he was able to break through and that is why he won a comfortable the electoral college victory. mr. goodman: it is all most the adage, be careful what you wish for. you have now learned the majority in the kentucky state house area in the president-elect comes in soon. what is the challenge there? you have learned of his gift, what do you do with it? sen. mcconnell: it is no time of for hubris. all majorities are never permanent. think about how the democrats were feeling, they were already celebrating hillary clinton's victory. you have to perform. i think the country has been underperforming. the way i would characterize it, if you look at the growth rate, not a single year, a 3% growth rate during all the obama years. we need to average around 4% to have the kind of jobs and opportunity for the next generation. another way i

class people and larger states like michigan and wisconsin, pennsylvania who looked at the democrats and said they are a party of groups. there's this group and the that group. i am not in any of those groups, what about me? they wereeople felt no longer a part of the democratic party's view of what was important in america. areas,look the rural stunning margins of victory. not that republicans would have carried a state like kentucky anyway, but hillary clinton only got 32% of the vote. in west virginia, she only got 27% of the vote. amongwas a lot of feeling just ordinary people all across the country that the current administration did not care about them. trump was able to convey, oddly enough, a message of a billionaire who lives in manhattan a genuine concern for people who felt left out. they were offended by all of the logical correctness they see around them. and did not feel like this was the america they were accustomed to. all of that came together. i've of the most extreme everything about trump's victory, the pollsters were correct. hillary clinton won the popular vote.

wisconsin, we are not going , and ohio is going to be tough. we won ohio by more than eight points. by a massive number, 10 points. then we went down and won florida. remember that fantastic evening? we have breaking news, donald trump wins florida. [cheers and applause] mr. trump: donald trump wins north carolina. [cheers and applause] we won so many states. we won 30 states, 32 states. just keptmuch, and we winning, and then we topped it off by winning pennsylvania, winning michigan, right? wisconsin, states that have not been won in area years, a lot of states. it was a fantastic evening. that's why we are here tonight, because we want to thank you. first, our taxes. we are going to undertake one of the great tax reforms and supplications in american history. in americanations history. this includes lowering the tax rate on business from 35% while the way down to 15%. [cheers and applause] and massive tax cuts, by the way, for middle less workers. massive -- middle-class workers. massive, the biggest. on regulations, we are going to eliminate every single wasteful thelation that under

less than completely clear who one in michigan or maybe wisconsin or maybe pennsylvania. we are going to have recounts either way. in recent history, the national has been clear, the states have been unclear and we have had more recount problems. here is where i agree with representative scots completely. if you actually have a national popular vote, you are going to need a national recounts system. you cannot leave it to the secretaries of state of the different states. that will require can national oversight -- congressional oversight. whether or not a compact stiffly speaking requires congressional oversight under the compact laws of the constitution -- and the onfessor thinks it does -- the constitutional issue, i with him. as a practical matter, the system will not work without congressional oversight. in thethat are not compact may try to game it and also took ways. they may not participate in recounts. they may come in and out. you are going to need national oversight in order to make it seem -- and i say it to you all with all due respect as one of two people whose brainchild

: through it all some electors facing pressure to try and change their vote. one member in wisconsin told the associated press he's received smd 50,000 e-mail from people. still a new poll out this morning shows that more people believe that electors should vote for the person who won the state as opposed to the 34% believe they should not be bound to vote for the winning candidate. >> hally, how does it go down today? how does the voting take place? >> reporter: so when you break it down, 538 electors are heading to usually the state capitols across the country to cast their vote. 29 states do have laws that require electors to vote for whomever won their state. but there is nothing in the constitution that explicitly requires that they do so. one elector in texas, for example, has publicly said he will break with his state not cast his vote for donald trump but historically that break is really rare. since 1948, it's only happened with nine people. so you can tell how sort of unprecedented that would be. ultimately on january 6, it's the vice president who presides over congress to
