-year-old girl in tennessee will appear in court here in california. >>> a 15-year-old girl from tennessee has now reunited with her family after she went missing for five weeks. >> she was found safe in northern california with her teacher. here's the latest. >> reporter: family and friends of a missing tennessee teenager are breathing a sigh of relief after police found the girl safe in northern california. 15-year-old elizabeth thomas was with a teacher from her high school and appeared unharmed. they were tracked down at a cabin about two hours from the nearest police station. griffin barry called police when he learned the man staying there was a fugitive. >> i didn't know the whole situation maybe she went willingly or something. but there was an amber alert. >> the teacher 50-year-old tad cummins was on the run for five weeks. he disappeared after another student reported seeing the two kissing in a classroom. they had been living in the cabin for the last ten days or so. they're not sure if thomas was there under duress but her age makes her a crime victim regardless of c

at least twice. the first time we know he came to wilmington was in the 1930's it he and tennessee williams went to the university of michigan playwriting program and for the jobs working federal arts administration's during the depression. tennessee being tennessee decided he would head off on his bicycle and have adventures, but arthur miller had that arthur miller-like new england strain, i am doing it. .e toured up and down the coast one of the things they were history's from people who had been a line during slavery. in the 1930's, you could still meet people who had lived through slavery and the united states. that was really one of the last chances you were going to have to collect first-person accounts of one of the satyr chapters of american history. , publishers starting putting out a series of books on a state-by-state basis, the one for north carolina is caught my folks still want me to talk about slavery. there is one specifically virginia, south carolina, alabama, mississippi. the second time we know arthur miller came to wilmington was the early 1990's, the last full

rain. this is what's coming for the weekend. there's a lot more rain coming out in the tennessee valley, and that round of rain will begin here probably tomorrow morning. not thunderstorms, just rain that's going to be heading in our direction. here's a look at your weekend forecast. only about 63 degrees tomorrow. showers off and on through the day and a steadier rain developing later taking us to sunday. sunday i 60. certainly suburban areas will stay in the 50's. chilly and raw, soggy, if we continue with the rain sunday morning, it's possible that we can see this storm track a little farther south and maybe clear out parts of maryland or even to the district. but because that storm will still be in the vicinity, we may not be able to sound all clear for rain as you get down through central virginia and that will have to be watched. that's one thing that could change just a little bit as we go on into the weekend. it could produce an inch to inch and a half of rain, i might add an do without the strong and we severe thunderstorms but the ra

palmer, thanks, liz. tonight, a 15-year-old girl who-- from tennessee, rather, who vanished with her teacher last month is back home. the pair was found yesterday in a cabin in rural california. the teacher, more than three times her age, was arrested. manuel bojorquez has the latest. >> i started crying immediately. finally, it's over. finally, you know, she's in safe hands. >> reporter: childhood friend caleb banks descriebtd moment and 15-year-old elizabeth thomas' family found out she was found safe. >> everybody was hoping for the best and, you know, the best is what we gogot. >> reporter: but it took nearly 40 days and a nationwide search for thomas and her former science teacher 50-year-old tad cummins. they were found in this remote northern california cabin nearly 2500 miles from their home town south of nashville. out of 1500 tips, griffin barry, a local property manager, called in the one that led authorities to them. >> someone showed me a picture and i was like, "that's the guy." >> reporter: an affidavit alleges cummins had been planning his time on the run with her. he

come and you can see it pushing across the tennessee valley. that is our weekend weather and that will start rolling in here as early as tomorrow. say bye-bye to these temperatures. by the way check out the difference, bwi, warm front didn't move through there, they were only sexual assault, while dulles was 84. we didn't see that severe weather getting toward baltimore like we did yesterday. but we certainly did have our fair share here and it has rained cooled things quite a bit in the district down to 73. fredericksberg 84, as the storm passes, i would imagine you'll start getting cooler as well. look at this, this is saturday afternoon's temperatures, and should have changed the thunder over to showers, i'm not thinking we'll have thunderstorms tomorrow because of these cool temperature, but we will have showers and then eventually rain and temperatures only in the 50's. it's really a cool and soggy weekend. while i don't think it rains every hour it will be more rainy than dry periods. our futurecast will take you forward you can see we're not quite off the hook with the virginia,

portions of the tennessee valley lifting toward east coast this weekend. a lot of that will stay to the south. notice the showers right here over portions of indiana and illinois that will likely impact our forecast for tomorrow. it is now looking like tomorrow may actually be the weather of the two weekend days and better chance to see sunshine could be on sunday as storm sped up. we have talked about this last night. take a look at kutztown, gray skies, 58 degrees, kid outside on the soccer field, east wind and we are seeing cooler temperatures. we just could not get cloud to break enough to overcome that east wind. temperatures hovering in the lower 60's. warming up in millville, breaks of sun there 69. dover at 65. lancaster at 67. temperatures are rising, slowly and there will be a chance for that pop up shower or then are storm, heading to the phillies game, otherwise cool, cloudy 60 degrees tonight at 7:05. for your evening hours isolated shower or storm 60 degrees is our evening temperature. we will not drop inch it. fifty-seven your overnight low but heading in to tomorrow

black hawk helicopter crashed into a maryland golf course on monday. he was from tennessee, and he's being remembered for his passion for flying. his grandfather spoke today, saying that he also had a love of hunting and fishing. that black hawk helicopter went down on a routine training mission. two others on the chopper were critically hurt and the cause of that crash is still under investigation. tomlin was just 22 years old. ♪ ♪ >>> the quest for the cup continues back here at home tonight. the capitals are hoping to take the series lead against the maple leafs. carol maloney is at the verizon center with a preview five. set the scene for us. >> you know the way the series is going, there's a lot of pressure on braden holtby's shoulders and it's probably one of the reasons why on his day off yesterday he was on the ice, working with an assistant coach, trying to stop some flukey shots. a lot of bounces in this series, and it seems like they've all gone the maple leafs' way. that's why holtby has one of the worst save percentages of all the goaltenders in the playoffs. he know
