russia. but trump's political rivals are far from convinced and are demanding to see the whole report it's. election results so far so the gentle leader who overthrew thailand's previous government is on track to stay in power. and we're in a remote part of mozambique where help is finally arriving by road to more than a week just like chloe died head. fellow a summary of the report says the investigation found no evidence that donald trump's campaign colluded with russia during the twenty six thousand election the us president has declared himself completely exonerated but the summary presented to congress by the it's very general william bar doesn't draw a conclusion on whether trump obstructed justice and democrats are demanding to see the report in full particular pain reports from washington d.c.
10:50 am
. it's the investigation u.s. president donald trump has long condemned as a witch hunt until it was released and now the president is cheering the finding there was no collusion with the russian there was no structure. and none whatsoever . and it was a complete and total exoneration that's not completely true the attorney general says there is no evidence the trump campaign coordinated with russian officials but on obstruction of justice the special counsel robert mueller didn't decide if he should be charged the attorney general made that call and in his letter to congress he made clear this report doesn't find the president didn't possibly commit a crime right in the special counsel states that while this report does not conclude that the president committed a crime it also does not exonerate him and that is democrats demanding answers jerry nadler heads the committee in congress that will be investigating turning

general clark. who are different from his role you don't remember in the suggesting that the obstruction investigation was on fungible and that a president and that it was almost impossible for any president who committed the option of just the season ahead of the executive branch made a decision about that evidence in under forty eight hours this inclusions raise more questions than the answer given the fact that muller uncovered evidence that in his own words does not exonerate the president he's promising to call officials to testify and vowing to get the tens of thousands of pages of evidence that have been collected the trump campaign was quick to try and use this to bolster his chances of reelection really see in this video evidence is pretty clear that there was collusion in the president's proclaiming victory but as congress pushes to make all the evidence public and with several other investigations ongoing he may want his supporters to believe it's over it isn't political he al-jazeera washington

live to the white house where his own caster was running us from for any reaction to receive reaction from the president's. that's right of the president has been home now at the white house for about three hours what do you arrived he had only one thing to say to reporters he said quote america is the greatest place in on he is the greatest place on earth he did not take any questions now his press secretary did fill us in a little bit more on how the president handled the evening he was briefed on the contents of this report prior to departing mar a lago and aboard air force one he was feeling very good he made phone calls he watched t.v. he spoke with his staff when pressed by reporters why trump continues to say that he was fully exonerated when in fact that's not what the report states the spokesperson said that the prosecutors don't exonerate they prosecute they don't
10:53 am
prove a negative and the president his team of communicators as well as his campaign have certainly seized on at least the beginning portion of that summary which said that the president did not collude with russia he is declaring a total victory from those words alone apparently not giving merit or value to robert bowler's statement that says the president is not exonerated when it comes to obstruction of justice but here's the thing does this significantly reduce the risk of impeachment the really hovered over trump since he became president. yeah this marks a turning point in his presidency because any attempt now by democrats to impeach the president will meet resistance as far as donald trump exclaiming that this is an exoneration a complete exoneration of his actions and the issue that democrats will face here
10:54 am
is they can at any moment initiate impeachment proceedings and they still might because of those spin off investigations that we've heard about however in order to convince their colleagues in the senate which is dominated by republicans to vote two thirds of which would have to vote to impeach the president that requires a complete change of american opinion and americans are looking at the contents of this report they're looking at donald trump's twitter feed and listening to the message that he is issuing from his bully pulpit which he is saying that he was exonerated and that certainly makes the job of the job of democratic investigators more difficult though they say they will vowing to continue digging heidi thank you for that update from the white house let's not speak to john and nothing or he's a former communications director of the democratic national committee he's joining us live from washington so jeff i suppose that it's a good day for america of the president of the united states has found that he
10:55 am
hasn't colluded with a foreign country. except that hasn't happened yet what we know is basically nothing even the no collusion piece we still don't know the status of that until we see what's in the report what we've figured out so far is that he's not going to be indicted for criminal conspiracy rather the president's entire family was not going to be indicted by robert mueller based on what robert mueller came up with for what he found well i wasn't going to go there with the family but we don't know much more than that criminal conspiracy the bar for that legally is pretty high if you're talking about collusion all you're talking about is acting on the basis of a secret agreement that's what collusion means and there's lots of evidence it's already been reported repeatedly that the trump team not only kept the russian secret that russia was doing this big four became public that they met dozens and dozens of times during the course of the campaign that they signaled repeatedly
10:56 am
that they would be willing to change american policy in approach direction where they to win the white house and then in fact they tried to do that afterwards so all of this doesn't go away because attorney general barr who was handpicked for this is signed it based on a memo that he wrote last summer saying he didn't think obstruction of justice is something the president could do a sort of legal technical argument to help move that away based on his summary of the findings in this report and what does it mean for the democratic side have any idea what's going on here yeah i hear what you're saying about the report but what does this say about the credibility of the democrats because in the past they said that they had full confidence and muller and now they're saying that they want to see all the underlying documents so does that mean that they've lost confidence in most or all for sudden after this summary came out. yeah i don't think so i think there are couple of things to understand about that so number one is that we want to see what muller has to say that's very important that he's had the best
10:57 am
investigators looking into as much as they could find and that's the story that america needs to hear now that's number one be on that the leave it to muller thing it's born understand politically what that was that basically to win the twenty teen midterm elections american public didn't want to hear about russia and trump and his whatever they want to hear about policy that was going to affect them so the best way for candidates on the trail to make the whole russia question go away which is that you know leave it similar leave it similar so now muller's here now we've got to figure out what muller says i mean for one thing we know and it's true i do think that if the russia piece doesn't end up to amount to much if if there are things that for instance that have been reported that mahler contradicts that mahler undermines then i think yeah absolutely the chances of impeachment go down and there could be a political hit you're right the democrats are facing that now but on the other hand because of muller's investigation we know that donald trump spent more than
10:58 am
one hundred thousand dollars to pay off his mistress right before the election that's a crime right so this this is not by no means is an exoneration of the president so who said that there chapter in the spin or and what is the next chapter because from what we understand subpoenas can be issued for the whole reports to be made public that could trigger a series of legal steps are we looking at a long legal legal battle going forward. we could be but i think that the important thing to understand right now is this is a political piece right moeller has said clearly and i think probably appropriately that he's not going to take it upon himself to indict the sitting president or the sitting president's family that this is a matter on his philosophy he's a he's a conservative temperamentally conservative person so this is a political issue right so this is means it's up to congress to look at his findings and they will look at his findings and figure out how to proceed it's not up to him to make these judgments for the country so what that means is that all
10:59 am
the spin that you're hearing right now that no collusion exoneration all of this is part of the larger political battle around how to go forward and whether it's politically advantageous or politically very disadvantageous for democrats in congress to do their job and conduct oversight of this president all right thank you very much for speaking to us from washington good to get your thoughts let's now speak to ask the pratt she's a board member of the republican women for a crime joining us from washington d.c. as well thanks for being with us so if we just look at sort of the headlines that came out of this summary the reports of the summary of the report doesn't conclude that the president committed a crime but it also does not exonerate him what do you read into that someone vague statements. i think it's very vague but at the same time i think it leaves a very very open door here so i don't think republicans should be gloating quite yet as they have been today i've received multiple e-mails from the republican
11:00 am
party stating that this is a win for all americans but this is also you know the witch hunt is over deeming this as a witch hunt seems to be completely inappropriate seeing as this was something that was raised to an investigative level that was you know something that the president was dealing with for goodness the first two and a half years now of his presidency so i think when we when we look at this we do really have to think about the severity of it and recognize that this isn't a win for america today it's sad that this ever even had to have happened with that said i do think that again there is a window open here for there to be further indictments now i know there weren't any in this report but people have been indicted in trump circles so i do think moving forward this will be referred to either congress or to other courtrooms across the country such as the southern district of new york where we know that there's you know pending investigation in litigation against people interim circle where he is named as individual number one.
