tapes, we'll continue to attack bill clinton. >> more polls show trump could be in serious trouble after release of the tape where trump bragged about his ability to grab a woman's generitals and g away with it because he is famous. a new nbc poll shows hillary clinton with an 11--point lead. this tape came to light after the tape was released, but before the debate. overnight, trump was in pennsylvania. a state could be tougher and tougher for him. cnn's sunlen serfaty is there. >> reporter: good morning, john and christine. donald trump as he campaigned throughout pennsylvania is keeping up his defiant tone as he tries to rehabilitate his campaign lashing back at house speaker paul ryan. paul ryan telling republicans he would no longer campaign for

issues. that resonates in that area. let's talk about donald trump. donald trump has been on the trail. he continues to talk about the fact he will bring up bill clinton if he has to and he continues to talk about the fact that he would appoint a special prosecutor if elected. >> wikileaks. i love wikileaks. we are going to get a special prosecutor to figure this deal out. i have never been so ashamed of this country as what's gone on with hillary clinton. >> now this is clearly something, donald trump brought up in the debate and brought up at both rallies. i assume we will hear it for the next 28 days. >> will get a special prosecutor if he wins, but he has to win. this doesn't seem like this is an approach that will get undecided voters and independents off the bubble to getting on him.

mocked people withdrawing support. he mocked paul ryan yesterday via twitter. this really is an existential crisis for the party. >> i cover politics in arizona. what john mccain is echoing is the concerns of the conservative voters there. it is not just arizona. it is across the country. i think what the trump campaign will have to do is try to convince voters not to follow their local lawmakers and stay on board the trump train. i don't know if he will be able to do that. i don't know if this is the approach with the attacks to convince them to do that. >> the big story in the last 24 hours is the backlash against the backlash. you had house members angry at paul ryan. a new york times story with quotes from arizona. trump voters angry at john mccain saying they will vote for the democrat because john mccain turned his back on trump. it is a tough place to be. it is unclear who benefits and

enthusiastic as it should be, that may be a susceptible audience. >> not just younger voters, but the part of the conversation forgotten is we talked about how women voters respond to this. there are men voters who do not like this. that is why we saw athletes who come out publicly and say that's not what happens in our locker rooms. hillary clinton will take the opportunity to reach out and connect with them. >> we are glad to know locker rooms are not like that. >> the old man wallace thing from stephen colbert is completely true. >> thanks, guys. if donald trump wins the election, the stock market will tank according to analysis from macro economic advisers. it predicting an 8% drop by the end of the year. if clinton wins, the forecast is a 2% gain. s&p is up 5.8% this year. the model predicts the drop because of three issues with

the flood waters rising in north carolina. this in the aftermath of hurricane matthew. the governor says the flooding

will extend through the end of the week. so much of the state inundated by record flooding which washed away roads. 18 inches of rain fell in areas over the weekend. hundreds of people stranded had to be rescued by boat. in fayetteville. >> you go in a room and there is nothing. it is all in pieces or in another room. i don't understand it. there's a few things that can be cleaned and saved, but just about everything's gone. >> there have been 27 storm related deaths in the southeast. 12 in north carolina alone. so when can north carolina expect the flood waters to recede? meteorologist karen maginnis has the latest. >> for the better part of a week, john and christine, we saw hurricane matthew just menace the coast of florida, georgia and into the carolinas and portions of virginia. staggering amounts of rainfall.

that rain has to go some place. in the rivers and tributaries and in cities and towns. all over. but especially hit hard is the central north carolina corridor along i-95 and toward the east. so many water rescues this many days later. people rescued from homes or businesses. it has really been devastating. the water will take time to recede. perhaps not another four or five days at or above record setting crests. you can see how devastating this is. this is an optical illusion out of lumberton, north carolina. look what lies on the horizon. cooler air across the midwest. temperatures in the 50s by thursday. john and christine. karen, thank you. let's see what is coming up on "new day."
