has now evaporated largely after romney's strong de late last week. his weekend crowds were among the largest of the campaign rallies today. >> i am not convinced you will have a chance to hear his answers or nonanswers. now of course days later we are hearing his excuses and next january we will be watching him leave the white house for the last time. as you said romney will have the swing state in lexington. in anticipation of that address the obama campaign releasing an ad that attacks his recent trip to europe and israel. >> reckless, amateurish that's what news media and fellow republicans called mitt romney's tour of england israel and

>> yes he was dishonest. when he said he didn't propose 5 million in tax cuts he was dishonest. he said to 70 million americans i will repeal obama care but i will still be able to cover people with preexisting conditions. 10 minutes after the debate he sent someone in he really didn't mean that. he said i want more teachers. i love teachers. it was a few weeks ago he chastised the president saying we don't need more teachers we don't need more government. yes i would say he was dishonest? >> would you go so far as he lied? >> i am saying he was dishonest with his answers. you can take that however you want. >> the romney campaign issuing their own attacks on the performance. gillespie said romney delivered facts the president couldn't.
>> the problem we have is the debate performance wasn't a matter of style it was a matter of substance. romney laid out a plan for turning this economy around and getting things moving again. he had a fact based critique of president obama's failed policies that the president was unable to respond to. and today and since then the obama campaign they remind me a little bit of a 7-year-old losing a checker game instead of being frustrated at the outcome they sweep the board off the table. the fact is if president obama is re-elected as governor romney pulled out we are going to have continued chronically high unemployment and we are going to have continued massive staff instead of moving toward a budget. healthcare premium also continue to rise 20 million americans will lose their employer based health insurance on obama care and rake 716 billion from medicare. governor romney will have a different approach that will
move this country in the right direction. that's what they are frustrated about, george. >> we will preview the vice presidential debate. what should we hear from joe biden? we will all be watching that this thursday. >> time for the first degree weather update with maria molina. >> hi, good morning. good to see you. we are dealing with chilly temperatures across a big chunk of the country across portions of the midwest, the great lakes northeast and even down into texas. temperatures well below average. we had a strong front push on through this entire eastern half of the country leighing behind much colder air. 44 in dallas. well below average. 35 degrees in chicago. 39 in cleveland. 46 degrees in new york city. we can pretty much say we have seen a transition from summer into fall and of course some of us even into winter like weather where we saw snowfall across portions of the planes over t--s over the weekend. the great lakes through interior

disappointing that the economy is improving that that number take down. for the country it was very good news. what it kwdoes is rob governor romney. >> this economy is not doing well. the fact that you have a white house celebrating an unemployment rate of 7.8 percent with 23 million americans you tell out of work or under employed or unemployed tells you a lot about the failure of this administration's policies. >> let's try to put politics aside for just a minute. here's what we want to know. where the j are the jobs number where they should be? are they? >> the government will tell you that. there are two numbers everybody talks about. we pay attention to the household survey number 7.8 percent. that gone by phone calling people. they call 60,000 people and say are you working? if you look at the number a large number of the people who said i am working are working part-time. even the white house would sthais not good. >> do we have any way of knowing
whether or not these people are choose to go powork part-time ty want to work part-time? >> there is a line indicating the people do want to work part-time. if you were to factor in the people who want to work part-time the people who dropped out of the work force to what the real unemployment rate would be it would be 14.7 percent. >> that's the real unemployment rate under employed a. >> we are talking about 23 million americans who want to work or are working part-time or have given up. >> how many jobs should we be creating every month? >> that's the number we should be paying attention to that's reported in the labor department every month. you need more than 200,000 jobs created every month to put people back to work and accounting for people coming out of high school going into college creating the work force. >> we are 100,000 jobs short per months just to get us back to
where we were. >> that's the bottom line. >> i know you talked to a lot of ceo and small business owners what do they say is the hang up. >> first the fiscal clip. hate the term. until congress gets the act together and deals with the fiscal problems businesses are setting out keeping 2 trillion off to the side. that's money they could be using to hire people to expand in what would be a perfect time to capture market share but they are not. they are sticking it out. >> it's really a lack of confidence in the economy and that speaks volumes. the labor force participation rate. the number of americans who are working right now is 63 percent. why is that significant? >> it is significant because 63.6 percent of the actual number is the lowest it has been since 1981. in 81 it was 63.5 percent. this is 30 years we have gone backwards. we need to be putting people to work. the labor participation late at 63.6 percent not good. so bottom line these new jobs numbers even though they
may sound promising, nothing to celebrate. >> nobody is going to say putting people to part-time work is bad but these people needful time jobs. >> you are going to come back again, right? >> yes. >> 26 minutes past the hour. joe biden forced to take a time-out from the campaign trail ahead of the presidential debate. what is the white house so worried about in terms of what he might say. there are permanent reminder of two fallen soldiers but it could cost an army veteran his job. we will explain what this is all about. hey! did you know that honey nut cheerios has oats that can help lower cholesterol? and it tastes good? sure does! wow. it's the honey, it makes it taste so... well, would you look at the time... what's the rush? be happy. be healthy.
