and to celebrate the day... howard has a treat that will have you rockin' and rollin' for more "can you believe that today the king of rock 'n' roll would have been 81 years old? that's right, it's elvis' birthday and rather than baking the customary birthday cake, we decided to create "birthday cookies" that bring together some of his favorites. all we do is combine some softened butter, a good amount of peanut butter and that can be smooth or chunky, and an equal amount of granulated sugar and brown sugar. once it's smooth, we add in a couple eggs and a splash of vanilla and let it go until it's evenly mixed. now we add our typical dry ingredients, you know.flour, baking soda and salt along with - get this - a package of "banana cream" pudding mix. and since no elvis cookie would be complete without chocolate and bananas. we stir in mini chocolate chips and some dried banana slices to give these crunch. the fun thing about these is you can make them bite-sized or jumbo depending on what size your

chris birk of that's according to an area pilot and a coworker he was flying the cessna 172 when it evening. by performance contractors, company doing construction on the c-f industries expansion. one of birk's a-b-c 9 that chris' family will hold home this week. jessica rae: chris had last stopped in columbia, missouri he ran into the and we now have the last communication chris had with air traffic control before his plane crashed near pender. pilot: "sioux city approach this is cessna n5104 delta; you read me?" jenna: chris birk was nearly at sioux gateway airport when he was denied permission to land because of low visibility. jenna: he was redirected to the airport in wayne, nebraska. controller: "cessna 04 delta - yeah, keep me advised on how the weather is on your way over

was the focus of a manhunt earlier this week... has died. says when police attempted to place him in shot himself, claiming his own life. f-b-i and knox say 25-year-old david transported to a where he died of his self inflicted gunshot wound. law enforcement officers fired their weapons during the encounter and the gun hoffman undergoing ballistics testing. an autopsy has been scheduled for hoffman's body. jessica rae: days after president obama announced executive actions aimed at reducing gun violence... the president took his pitch on the road. he participated in a town hall meeting at george mason university... and argued his reasoning for the increased restrictions. reporter karin caifa has a recap. " (president obama): "the way it is described, is that we are trying to take away everybody's guns." in his first town hall event in 2016, the president debated the second amendment....and the gun violence gripping the nation.

" as i've talked to thousands of south dakotans over the years, their cost of health care has gone up, they've lost their plans, they've lost their doctors, and we're certainly anxious to put in place another health care reform that would actually put them back in charge of their own health care decisions with their doctor." jessica rae: noem says the repeal would create more competition in the market which would help america's economy. jessica rae: presidential candidate rand paul celebrated his birthday in sioux city yesterday. but it didnt get in the way of his campaign for president.

at the sioux city public library downtown. his remarks included his reaction to the president's executive actions to extend gun control laws. he says the president's plan takes the balance away from the branches of the u-s government. "you know i think north korea is one of the few nuclear powers that really has some instability, is putting it lightly, in their leadership and it is a real problem. i think the only way we're going to be able to influence their behavior is through our pressure, sanctions, and international pressure from all the countries that surround them." say presidential candidate rand paul. jessica rae: more than 50 people were in attendance at the meet and greet, voters say paul won them over with his stance on the current issues. on the road in lemars are getting some new company. snowmobiles will soon be legal on city streets and on state highways locals in le mars have pushed city officials to legalize all- terrain vehicles and snowmobiles on city streets with an updated ordinance. the updated ordinance was approved and passed on january 5th. jason vacura, the assistant city administrator... believes the vehicles are popular in the community... but wishes that those that choose to ride in an a-t-v or snowmobile take it seriously and with precaution. "just be safe of them, i mean that comment. i mean vehicle not to screw still have to follow the same rules as anybody driving a vehicle, or a car, or a pick up. you still same stuff so treat it that way," said vacura. jessica rae: the vehicles are only allowed on city streets and are not welcomed on state highways or city lands. drivers will have to be 16 years or older, have a valid
