it is decision day in iowa. the 2016 presidential nomination process is kicking off today. the candidates are spending the night criss- crossing the state. hoping to win the first-in-the-nation caucuses. abc's lana zak has the latest. " jessica rae: the last republican to win the iowa caucus and later the presidency... was george w. bush in the 2000 election. lukas a local non-profit is getting a huge boost thanks to a recent event donald trump held to help veterans. at his event... trump presented a check for 100- thousand dollars to support siouxland soldiers. the group was nominated by a local suporter when trump announced he'd hold an event to benefit veterans last week in des moines. more than six million dollars were raised total. sarah petersen, support siouxland soldiers says, "well support siouxland soliders started as a care package program about 10 years ago, just right across the street, sending boxes of candy and snacks to the troops overseas and then over the last 10 years we've grown significantly thanks to this wonderful community. very patriotic community." support siouxland soldiers says they're a non- partisan organization, but they're thankful

even after they survived the deadly disease .. take a look nats: group workout ... vo: what does this group have in commen? yes ... they work out together ... but they are also survivors ... cancer survivors .... and they come together at the ymca to be part of the livestrong program ... designed to help post cancer patients to get back into an active routine ... it does much more than just helping them with their workout. sot: "i enjoy being with other cancer survives so we can share our journeys. you take so much away from it not just the physical part but a lot of the emotional part." experts train with the survivors and focus on improving muscle strenght including lower body workouts and some upper body exercise ... and there is a clear advantage ... sot: "it helps with your fatique it really helps increase your stamina gives you engery and helps your body regain that strenghts ... some of that strenght however might not be gained through your classic workout .... sot: "we'll take them through a trx strap it's hanging from the ceiling and it's like you want me to do what."

just for the contractors and volunteers that helped remodel the restaurant. the quick turn around happened just after 20 days of being closed for smoke repair. the building needed a lot of work, including all new duct work. the vice president of c-w suter... said their team was determined to get things done as quickly as possible. "all the trades cam together, and really uh got this thing put together quickly and it was pretty awesome to see all the trades come together, get this done and up for dave and the sneaky's family." owner dave ferris was also grateful for his family and staff for their dedication to the restaurant.
