waterloo's public courses open for the season on monday. you can tee off as early as 10:00 that morning. monday will mark the earliest start date for the city since the year 2000. that year, the courses opened on march 3rd. the first phase of a road reconstructi on project in cedar falls gets underway next week. construction crews will be at the intersection of university avenue and valley park drive on tuesday. a water main installation there could keep valley park drive south of university closed for about 2 weeks. the project will be putting in roundabouts at several intersections in the college square area. construction on a busy section of road in cedar rapids begins on monday. lanes will be reduced on 1st avenue east between 27th and 29th streets. the city will be working on different sections of 1st avenue through this construction season. cedar rapids capital improvements project manager doug wilson says the city will plan lane
