afternoon.tim, can you introdode us to marek here?- what is choroid plexus carcinoma? - how does blood donations help those, inlcuding marek, suffering from the condition?- why is it so important to donate blood this time of year?- what is the goal of this drive?- what do people need to know before they donate?- where can people go to find more information? marek biomarek was diagnosed with choroid plexus carcinoma, an extremely rare brain and spspal cord cancer, when he was one and a half years old after an accidental fall from our living room couch. in the following weeks he underwent 30+ hours of intense brain surgery, during which surgeons were able to remove most of the tumor in his brain. during surgeries, he received three times his body's blood volume in donated bloododfter the surgeries, marek went through chemotherapy treatment at st. jude's children's hospital in memphis, due to side effects from the chemotherapy treatments, he received platelet and whole blood transfusions about once a month. due to the generous donations of many, our son's life was saved! prior to this, i had nevedonated blood. i always me excuses as to why i couldn't donate. however, i vowewethat i would at leasas try to donate. it was the e least i could do to need of it. i donated for the first time in september 2014 and it was a great experience! i have donated twice since then, and i plan to continue donating in the future. i want people to know that just ten minutes of your time and one pint of your ious.hacayod-
