today's dew point 63. low to moderate level of humidity at least for the time being. our current temperatures, all of eastern iowa back in the 80s as well -- as warm as 80 in iowa city, 85 cedar rapids. normal readings this time you should be 73 to 74 so we are way above that. the high temperatures from around iowa, check out the west. 90 in sioux city, back towards omaha, is trying to knows his way into eastern iowa. you will not go to much further to the north and eventually on the northern end of that is where we expect showers and storms to develop later tonight. look at the dew points in iowa. 46 in mason city, dry air up in the north and northeast but then you get into the southwest and the dew point is at 75 degrees. very sharp contrast between a dry hermas to the north in a very moist onto the south and that is the type of situation that can often times get heavy

have a warm front stretched out across iowa. you can see with that is doing to temperatures in moisture levels. just north of the warm front were we think thunderstorms will develop tonight and those are expected to work their way southeast and should clip northern iowan southern minnesota. you will notice during the next 24 hours that warm front does not move very much. still tomorrow afternoon is setting over northeastern iowa so that will be the focus for showers and thunderstorms for as a result of that where the ground is saturated up your northern iowa there is a flash flood watches the fact that is until 7:00 on thursday. could be several rounds of showers and storms between now and then with the potential of several inches of rain especially up in the northern two or three tiers of our counties. for the moment nothing happening in northeastern iowa. if you showers earlier but later on tonight the air is expected to light up with additional storms and you can see some tropical moisture coming up from the southwest.
