plans coming up. >> a little girl was hospitalized tonight after being hurt when bullets started whizzing through her neighborhood. it happened near the oakland coliseum near 82nd avenue and a street in east oakland. nick smith is live at children's hospital oakland. nick, she's okay, right? >> dan, that is the good news. nala is her name and she is 10 years old and she is fine. she is expected to survive. she and her eight-year-old sister were playing in the front yard when bullets started to fly nearby. >> it just happened so fast. >> just before 5:00 p.m., witnesses say shots were fired near 82nd avenue and a street in east oakland. sky 7hd was above where bullet casings littered the ground below. sharon dawson heard the gunfire and feared the worst. i. >> i heard it and came out and the first thing i thought of was my children. >> she found her 10-year-old granddaughter, nalah running

to her for help and frightened and complaining of a burning feeling. >> she was grazed on the shoulder on the right side. >> nalah and her sister were playing in the yard. >> we were here on our own property. they were not outside the gate. they were right here where they were supposed to be. >> she said a bullet or something the bullet hit grazed her granddaughter. police will only say multiple shots were fired and identified what hit nalah is part of the investigation. >> from there it is like, trying to comfort her and anything and was there anybody out there that saw it? >> sharon shared this video. paramedics arrived shortly after she called thine-1-1. 9-1-1. you can see the girl's skin is broken and irritated by whatever it was that hit her. >> i did take precautions precautions and made sure it is nothing fractured. >> nalah was taken to children's hospital in oakland for further examination. >> i hate that innocent people get hurt. >> all of this is on the heels

of a one-year-old boy in richmond being hit in the neck by a bullet. both are expected to survive their injuries. police tell me that the entire situation is still under investigation. at children's hospital in oakland, nick smith, abc7 news. >> nick, thank you. and i do have more on the one-year-old boy who was shot in the neck in richmond. he is back home tonight. the child was on the couch of his grandparents' home when bullets went through the window. one struck the baby and is the family told us they are moving out of richmond's iron triangle. the inend it -- intended target was a man on a bicycle who was also shot, but expected to survive. the people killed in the fiery crash on interstate 80 in davis were from petaluma. a big rig driver said he choked on his food and passed out and then hit three cars with deadly consequences. the couple was remembered tonight by a north bay buddhist community where they were very involved. cornell bernard is live from the santa rosa temple tonight with the story. it sounds like they were

remarkable people, cornell. >> yes, indeed, dan. the buddhist community in santa rosa is in mourning. at this temple they are grieving the loss of two beloved members. dozens of mourners are gathering at the buddhist temple where the 76-year-old and his 74 creerld creerld ---year-old wife worshiped daily. they were more than parishioners here. they founded the temple 11 years ago and their loss is unimaginable. >> i feel like his work is not done here. there is much more. he needs to be with us to help us. >> the couple was killed in a fiery crash near davis when a big rig lost control on interstate 80 and crashed through the center guardrail hitting the bmw. the chp says the big rig driver claims he choked on some food and passed out at the wheel.

a small flower and card was left at the couple's home in petaluma. neighbors say they were kind and loving. >> they loved their church. they looked after the homeless. very lovely people. >> pang and his wife came to california 30 years ago and would help others navigate the immigration system. >> he knows how the system worked and helped us. >> she remembers a conversation just last week as they were preparing to mourn a temple member who had just passed away. >> he was kidding with me. he was saying oh i want you to help me. i said sure. but he said it is not going to come anytime soon. >> according to buddhist tradition the funeral will last seven days. the big rig driver who hit them is from fresno, and we just learned that the dmv says

during a parachuting exercise in arizona. another sailor survived and is hospitalized. they say the man who died was a member of seal team 6, but not clear if he took part in the raid personally that killed bin laden. a 22-year veteran of the santa clara county transportation authority has died after being hit by a bus in a manet thence yard. 62-year-old raul was hit late tuesday and died last night. they waited to reveal the accident saying it was isolated and didn't involve the traveling public. the employee driving the bus has been placed on leave. 10 bulldogs were saved after a house on concord. they found a small fire, a bunch of smoke and several bulldogs. the flames came from a pot on the kitchen stove and quickly put out. no one was hurt, and as you can see the dogs are fine. a 19-year-old giant fan from millbrae was arrested last night after witnesses say

they saw him stomp on a man's head during a fight in willie may's plaza. this happened after after the a-giants game at at&t park. he was booked on suspicion of assault and other violations. sometime during the game this scuffle broke out as the two men grappled a woman came and got her shots in. we are learning more about how a college student who lied about being raped suffered beating injuries. 20-year-old morgan claimed she was raped last month in this area on a campus. she placed an ad on craigs list for somebody to shoot her in the arm. then she posted another ad looking for somebody to punch her in exchange for sex. she pleaded not guilty for faking a false police report. she was ordered to continue mental health counseling. a small girl and young mother are alive and well tonight thanks to special training by the california

highway patrol. you may not know that every chp officer is certified as a medical technician. officer rick murray used his emt skills to save two lives in the past two months. in february, the motorcycle officer helped dislodge an object stuck in the throat of a child. and he revived a woman who stopped breathing after a minor car accident. >> everybody knows what to do. that stops a lot of people from acting. almost everybody wants to act. i suspect anybody taking a cpr class because it could be their family member. >> murray is an 18-year veteran and his emt training has never been more important than in the last two months. and surely it was bad. >> the threats from north korea are escalating. a new and pro problem vive move -- a new and provocative move against the united states. and a half billion bees unleashed. what it took to capture the insects and keep neighbors

strong words and an intriguing photo from an increasingly aggressive north korea. 100,000 troops in the capital marched shouting death to the u.s. imperialists. and this picture from north korea's state-run media, kim gung u.n. seated with a war plan and words that say strategic forces plan to hit the u.s. and there there was a new propaganda video showing north korea hitting a bomber. that after the u.s. flew the bomber over the area to show force. they say the north may be preparing for another missal test. and good news for people with type 2 diabetes.

the food and drug administration has approved a first in a new class of drugs to help the condition. they use the method to lower blood sugar in adults by flushing it out in the patient's urine. the medication prevents the kidneys from reabsorbing sugar. and new at 11:00, a highway rescue unlike any you might imagine. in central oregon last weekend, a flat bed truck rolled on its side with an over sized load of bee hives. an estimated half a billion honey bees were spread out on highway 97. most of them were still in one of the 200 boxes housing colonies. local bee keepers responded to help with the rescue. it took about 12 hours to clean up all of the bees. each hive had to be checked to make sure it had a queen. the driver of the truck was not injured, but he was given a ticket. well, facebook is coming out with its own smart phone. it will announce it to the media next week. insiders say the phone will be made by htc using a version of google's android technology.

the home page will automatically pop up when the facebook phone is turned on. it is designed to direct users to rely on facebook over competing absent services. things like easter egg hunts and treasure hunts are for kids, right? not so fast. the discovery in san francisco has kids of all ages looking for a hidden gem. a door leading to a world of wonder. >> this curious little door in golden gate park has them running wild. the miniature door sits at the base of a tree in the concourse of the park near the young museum and the academy of sciences. >> my mom found a picture on facebook and she thought it would be sweet to look for it. >> a lot of people have been looking for it after giving their best guess as to who or what built it. that's the spirit. how about an elf. we all know what elves look like, right? >> they look like -- they look

on the subject of dry, our see yarr yaw snow back -- our sierra snowpack is running low. the higher elevations above 7,000 feet may see a couple of inches by sunday night. santa rosa 56 degrees. livermore is at 63. pretty mild there still. 61 in los gatos. we are looking at clouds and fog overnight tonight. a shower chance on saturday night now. and it is going to be wet on easter sunday. so here is a look at the system. this is the storm that will be responsible for bringing us the rain and the showers, if you will, on easter sunday. here is what will happen. the stormcenter is moving toward the bay area. but it is a slow move system. so now we are going to get another day before we start to see some real rain moving in through the bay area. clouds around 6:00 a.m. could see a few sprinkles off the coast, but nothing reaching the ground until 9:00 p.m. on saturday when we start to see a little bit of moisture moving in .

by 11:00 p.m., could see scattered showers around and by sunday morning it is looking wet. light to moderate rainfall as you will notice at 5:00 a.m. noontime on easter sunday, widespread rainfall is expected. and then it is more scattered in nature and ends by sunday night. rainfall totals by sunday night, half an inch to an inch in the wettest north bay locations. central bay and the south bay, first thing in the morning if you have early plans fog will be around. it is around right now. be careful out there. temperatures upper 40s to the low 50s. at least the easter egg hunts are looking fine. for the afternoon 70 degrees in san jose. the temperatures are coming down, but not quite as cool -- or warm as today. 69 in sunnyvale. on the paw nips law, 67 san mateo and 64 in half moon bay. downtown san francisco, 65 degrees and in the north bay you are going to see 69 in santa rosa and 66 for san rafael. heading out toward the east bay? oakland, san leandro, 68. 72 in livermore and 71 in
