>> good morning, everyone. i'm carolyn tyler. let's start with a look at the weather with meteorologist lisa argen >> good morning. deflecting a storm track to the north and looking at temperatures a little warmer. 46 in hayward. good morning, fremont. 45 there. 47 and brings us up around 5 degrees compared to yesterday n mountain view, livermore and by the delta. so we are set for a warmer day today with full sunshine. still the surf is dangerous.
high in the low to mid-60s by noontime but look at the afternoon times. 4:00 we are in the mid-70s near santa rosa, 68 at the cost. we will talk about record warmth coming up, carolyn. >> thank you, lisa. we begin with news out of san francisco where a intersection remains closed following a triple fat talty. three people dead following a police chase. one of the victims tell abc7 news they were heading home from the nfl experience celebrating the super^bowl. police responded to the report of a car doing donuts in the intersection about 9:30 last night. when cph officers arrived, they began the chase but ended it because of the danger to pedestrian. the victim's car ran several red lights and hitting a taxi and bursting into flames.
>> it hit a taxi car and the taxi car driver was on the stretcher and they were putting out a fire in the car. >> two of the victims burned to death. the other was ejected. brandon street remains closed between 7th and 8th streets. this is super^bowl sunday finally. almost all of the parties and concerts are over. all that's left is a massive cleanup and a chance to enjoy some football. this is a live look at super^bowl city from our visa everywhere camera. it will be open again today but it is expected to draw a much smaller crowd than yesterday. abc7 news reporter tiffany wilson joins us live outside super^bowl to city with all the details. good morning, tiffany. >> and good morning to you, carolyn. well, i have to say the months and days and leadup concerts
culminated last night by a performance by alicia keys on city stage. but only the very, very dedicated fans made it inside super^bowl city to see the show. some fans lined up as many as 10 hours early. police shut down access to super^bowl city and then had to close off the northbound lanes of the embarcadero as thousands of additional fans lined the streets. the crowd behave well but multiple children got separated from their families in the chaos. fortunately all were reunited. but it was disappointing for families who arrived almost five hours before and still got to the delay. >> we got here about 4:30, 5:00. and it was chaotic. there was no room to walk. we went straight to the line and we were turned down. >> people in the audience outside of super^bowl city said the sound was a little muffled
but they are so glad they got to experience the show. today super^bowl city reopens at 11:00 a.m. but it will close down for good about a half-hour before kickoff. and there's one last cop certificate you can check out tonight after the super^bowl, rapper t. i. is going to take the stage at 10:15. doors open at 9:00 p.m. tonight. a lot of super^bowl excitement, and it's all wrapping up today. live outside of super^bowl city, tiffany wilson, abc7 news. >> thank you, tiffany. the crazy crowds made for a hectic scene yesterday. a golf cart slammed into a truck yesterday in super^bowl city. a super^bowl volunteer was hurt. no word this morning on his condition. many fans picked up their super^bowl text yesterday. abc7 news was at great america in santa clara where stubhub has turned an amusement park into a fanfare. a few tickets are still
available. the lowest price is nearly $2900. the hottest ticket in town last night was the warriors game against the thunder. celebrities were in town for the super^bowl and were sitting courtside. super^bowl halftime performer beyoncé enjoyed the game. jim said he's looking forward to going back to review stadium to watch the super^bowl. >> it will being great! >> they said they have not seen this kind of demand since the nba finals. all the extra attention, no problem for the dubs. they won their 41st straight regular season home game. the second longest regular season home winning streak in nba history. shu will have all the highlights coming up later in sports. a look at some of the celebrities in up to for the super^bowl. this photo with football legend
brett favre. miss universe is here, and she took quite a nice picture with the golden gate bridge in the background. actor and musician jamie foxx was at the nfl experience yesterday. actress melissa romano was at reunion square and alicia keys took a boat trip when she got into town before her free concert last night at super^bowl city. you can see members of the nation showing their pride inside the moscone center. today is the final day of the envelope experience. it's open until 10:00 this morning until 2:00 this afternoon. abc news was he is civic san francisco when the bay area voted two bay area football legends into the hall of fame.

watch the halftime so but he still remembers his name. >> hi, everybody, i'm brian. >> and i'm dorothy hamel. come on, and field the cold! it's winter magic! >> feel the cold! >> abc7 news. >> reggie made a good dorothy hamel there. the weather today, very nice for everybody who is planning super^bowl parties. >> definitely. in fact with lots of sunshine. we will begin our warmup after the sun comes up. we are looking at temperatures today well above average. we should see about 61 in santa rosa and mountain view. we could be flirting with 70 in some spots. here's a look hat live doppler 7hd with the storm track heading way up into canada. we are looking at not only a ridge of high pressure building in today, it's going to stay centered over the bay area and just begin to move on tuesday. that's why tomorrow and tuesday look to be the warmest to days. so right now 52 in the city. it's 47 in oakland, 46 in san jose.
43 morgan hill. half moon bay is at 48. we've got offshore winds in the upper elevations that are quite gusty. santa rosa 42. 41 napa, and no fog to report of. and we are looking at temperatures a little bit warmer. now those gust at the winds are above 2500 feet. so gusting up to 50 miles an hour from mt. diablo and they are out of the east. we are looking at some fog that's being pushed offshore or doesn't have a chance to form and then the warmth will make it all the with a i to the coast today. spring like warmth looking for records possible tomorrow and tuesday. and cooler and the surprise i spoke of before it's going to be dry. so we are looking at dry weather unfortunately right on through next weekend. took the little chance of rain out. still have a beach hazard statement throughout the afternoon today with swells anywhere from 7 to 10 feet. and the current wave height 7 to 8 feet out there. so still pretty dangerous all the way up and down the coast. so here's the plan today. sunny and warmer. take a look, we've got some low clouds at the coast but they
make zero impact as we are just looking at the clear conditions. so upper 40s today in the northern sierra nevada. unfortunately by tuesday we will be up to 58 degrees in the sierra. looking at 82 in los angeles. so we've got warmth all the way from north to south. and it's going to stick around. the ridge is going to be slow to break down. so here's a look at monday, which will feature the upper 70s. you can see the orange here coming up from the south. that's where we got the warmest condition and the records would be in the mid-and upper 70s for san francisco and oakland. perhaps shy of that but look what happens on tuesday. we are still in the 70s. still temperatures well above average. and by wednesday looking like more of an on shore push but it's going to take all week lock for the temperatures to come down to near normal. in super^bowl city today we are starting out with low 60s at 11:00. 68 degrees 2:00 in the afternoon. and you will notice conditions will be milder by 6:00. in is and around the bay today
look at the numbers. doesn't look like february, looks more lake april. 74 in napa, and in santa clara, 3:30, still looking at low 70s. a warm day. and by about 7:00 we will be in the upper 50s. so the accuweather seven-day forecast featuring sunny, spring-like temperatures right on through the middle of the week. a slow cooling trend with partly cloudy skies and unfortunately if we extended that outlook for ten, twelve days, still looks dry. >> and obviously above average? >> yeah. >> thank you, lisa. up next, bieber fever heading to the bay area. the pop star's trip around san francisco. >> this is our abc7 news 360 camera. give you a press pass to all super^bowl events all weekend long. folks lining up in super^bowl city and san francisco.

sports training in vr. >> this was my graduate project. >> he had seen football simulators before but they all used animated graphics. >> that receiver, lineman, doesn't move like a real person in the real world, sites not going to work. >> for the split second decisions the quarterback makes. stanford research suggested real video would work better. seems it was right. >> coach shaw sat me down the end of the season in 2014 and said you need to give this a shot because it's too good. >> and the goal of virtual practice is to make them smarter. >> before the ball is snapped, if i know here i've eventually won the play. >> he teaches quarterbacks to recognize a defensive play, not from a camera on the sidelines but from where they actually stand on the field. >> come saturday you say wait a second, i've seen this before, i know what's about to happen before it happens. >> they can review the play over and over, practice where to look and coaches can watch. though it started to are quarterbacks, it works for other
players, too. and they can really get into it. we are seeing guys actually getting in their staps, take a draw and actually play the position without having to run and sweat and hit somebody. >> after all, while practicing can help you win, being well rested can do too. >> they don't need to do the physical work as often. and actually research says they should train less during the season when they are competing. abc7 news. >> santa clara university students the will have another chance to get vaccinated against meningitis. they held a clinic yesterday after receiving 2,000 additional doses of the vaccine. 4200 students received shots thursday and friday. santa clara launched the vaccination drive after three students were diagnosed with meningitis. a group of young heart artists is part of make oakland
more beautiful. here's photos of the new mural at mcarthur boulevard off interstate 580. it used to be a target for graffiti at the end of a vacant lot. an oakland school teacher, who is also an artist, recruited local artists to help paint the wall. you are looking at aspiring basketball players renewing a lunar tradition in san francisco. yesterday twelve teams played in the year of the monkey basketball jamboree. players represented san francisco middle schools and community organizations from north beach and chinatown. organizers tell as many former players, volunteer to mentor, today's stars coaches and referees. chinese new year, by the way, begins tomorrow. among the celebrities in town for super bowl 50, singer justin beiber. he posted a series of videos on his instagram yesterday taken all over san francisco. one shows him sword fighting in
chinatown. another has him run being down the middle of the street. he also did a little bit of skateboarding. do you ever get that sinking feeling something is wrong? it happened to more than a dozen drivers at lake geneva, wisconsin. the cars were parked on the frozen lake for the city's annual winter fest when, yeah, they started breaking through the ice. the cars were unoccupied so thankfully no one was hurt. attend december are accustomed to the lake being frozen over for that event. much more than ahead on the abc7 sunday morning news. super bowl activities shift to go the south bay. the super community celebration in anticipation of today's big game at levi's stadium. >> the gop contenders are president fought it south on the debate stage right before the new hampshire primary. i'm abc's kevin in manchester. coming up,

>> welcome back. we are starting this half-hour with a look at the weather with meteorologist lisa argen. >> good morning, carolyn. temperatures in the 40s. this is warmer than we were yesterday. 48 half moon bay. the winds are calm but upper elevations experienced some gusty winds. 44 livermore, 41 napa. it's 2 to 5 degrees warmer from 24 hours ago, and our temperatures today will be about 5 degrees warmer, at least, maybe more in some neighborhoods. with the 40s and low 50s at the coast through 7:00 it's cool. noontime we are looking at 60s around the bay. oakland inland we will see about 62. coastside 59. but by the afternoon how about 75 santa rosa, 73 oakland, 68 in ocean beach, half moon bay? pretty up believable. wait until you see the seven-day

>> in sports we are hours away from the kickoff of super bowl 50. the panthers will battle the broncos at levi's stadium. kickoff at 3:30 p.m.. a couple of big honors for some 49ers before the game. wide receiver antawn boulton was named the man of the year for improving the lives of underprivileged children. this award is given to the player for his outstanding achievements on and off the field. eli manning and benjamin watson were the other nominees. a $55,000 donation will be made to the charity of bolden's choice. earlier eddie debartolo junior was vote into the 2016 class of the pro football hall of fame.
here's mike shumann with the details in this morning's sports. >> good morning. well, eddied debartolo has been inducted into the pro football hall of fame. the former 49er owner brought respectable to the club with 5 football titles and no better place to get it than here in super bowl 50. it's his fourth time at a finalist and took the voters the longest of any finalist debate before they made the call. there's no better opener in sports if you ask anyone whoever played for him, and i fall into that category. he treated everyone like family and made sure his teams had everything they needed to succeed. mr. d was humbled. >> eats unbelievable. it's almost like it was a script that was written. you know, having super bowl 50 here in the bay area after all the years that we, you know, that we battled and played here is something that -- i don't know if anybody could ever write
a better script. >> well, raider quarterback kenny stabler also got elected to the hall. unfortunate news this past week stabler likely suffered from cte before his death this past summer. one of the best quarterbacks of the '70s, the snake helped them win the super bowl. and he had the ghost to the post and the holy roller. they wondered for years what kept the snake from being elected to the hall. they can wonder no more. warriors and thunder meeting for the first time this season and they have been on a tear. the third best record in the western conference. jay-z, beyoncé, and jim harbaugh, big names watching the game. a 9-60 run and 30 points. warriors surge ag head in the second quarter. the shot clock running out. the prayer. and it's answered. everything hitting on all

we are having some beautiful weather around the day today. it will last not only for the second half of the weekend, the super bowl, but for much of the work week. this ridge is going to be slow to break down. it's building into the pacific northwest and deflecting all the cloud cover to the north. it be strongly situated over us tomorrow. and really doesn't want to leave tuesday. we could see records monday and tuesday. and today likely average highs as much as 10 degrees above the norm. so we should see anywhere from upper 50s to low 60s for early february. we will be well above that. 52 san francisco. good morning oakland, 47. it's 49 in mountain view, 46 san jose with low 40s morgan hill and 48 at the coast half moon bay. from peer 15, the exploratorium3 camera, lit up beautifully this morning. low 40s. it's not that chilly out there. we've seen much cooler in the past couple days. 42 santa rosa, low 40s napa, fairfield. no fog to speak of either and we've got a strong offshore flow
developing above about 2500 feet. this is sutro. nice view of the city with spring like warmth today. records possible tomorrow and tuesday. and that ridge slow to leave. keeps us dry all week long into next weekend. we are getting toward the latter part of february and unfortunately the rain is going to be hard to bring back. it's looking like it's growing to be hard to bring back. things could change, but between now and then it's the surf, it's the beach that you are probably thinking about, and it's still dangerous throughout the average. we are looking at swells from 7 to 10 feet. you can see they are will 7, 8 feet from san francisco to half moon bay. all the way down to the central coast strong rip currents are likely. and the warmth, all the way down through san luis obispo and into southern california. check out the fog offshore. that's where it stays. nothing but sunshine from start to finish today. about 10 1/2 hours of day light to enjoy. near 50 today in the northern sierra. low 60s in yosemite.
