of san francisco. katie marzullo. >> new information about the gunman tonight? >> reporter: i do. first i want to show you a memorial here that continues to grow for the victims of this shooting. not long ago a group came and lit these candles here. union official does say the victims in morning meeting and earlier tonight at shooter's san francisco apartment. his neighbors are shocked. >> it's too close to home. and such a tragedy. >> reporter: judy lives on 4th avenue across the street from the man identified as ups shooter, jimmy lam. >> he seemed normal, not like irritated or agitated. >> reporter: neighbors didn't know lam by name but stood outs but of ups uniform. smoking cigarettes, talking on the phone or hanging out by car,

black sports car. hours after the shooting saw police at house. >> multiple officers with boxes and bringing out a lot of stuff. >> male named jimmy lam. >> teamster's official said lam filed a grievance in march saying working excessive overtime and asked for relieved but source said he was in the angry. sources tell abc7 he had mental problems and estranged from his wife. others said he had children. >> kept to himself. didn't associate with other drivers. >> reporter: worked with lam for over ten years. >> never heard anything about him other than had friction with management. >> reporter: investigators not sure if targeted victims or shooting at random. abc7 news. started at 9 this morning in

potrero hill, ended with police having fired no shots. >> about seven shots. >> marvin was getting ready for the morning meeting at facility when the gunman opened fire. >> right behind me. six or seven shots inside and at least five to six outside. i was just running. >> sky 7 shows employees evacuated as police went inside. >> team located suspect, still armed with assault pistol. put the gun to his head and discharged a weapon. >> shot five people. three died, two treated and released from the hospital. mayor believes would have been more victims if not for quick response by police. >> these are things they train for and want to continue giving them support to prevent these kinds of tragedies from happening. >> city will provide health and trauma counsels to employees.

>> the three victims being mourned tonight, at ups facility, friends and loved ones bringing flowers, notes and candles to a growing memorial. melanie. >> reporter: it's difficult to imagine what it will be like for employees returning to work following this tragedy. some have sat down candles and flowers. tonight one of the victims is being remembered as a gentle giant with a tremendous heart. 46-year-old mike lefiti was a father who just celebrated his wedding anniversary yesterday. >> i don't want to -- >> reporter: cousin watched as first responders attempted to resuscitate him this morning. at ups to pick up cousin from work. told him he loved him. >> i got to touch him, couldn't hug him. pushed me away.

we have developing news out of london where an apartment complex is still burning more than 24 hours after it started. so far 12 people confirmed dead. projected to rise the toll once they get inside. >> two members of my family live in there. by the time we got out, less than five minutes, half the building on fire. could see people waving and screaming from the windows. >> video shows people using bed sheets to try to climb out of 24 story window. and one amazing report says a woman dropped baby ten stories. bystander ran over and caught the baby below. >> after the shootings, you can imagine the tension of this, false report of shots fired sent base into lockdown in active shooter drill. warned everyone to shelter in
