live, this is abc7 news. yeah, wet and wild sunday in the bay area. thunder, you just heard, hail, we're seeing quite the mix from our weather today. thank you for joining us i'm eric thomas. i dion lim. abc7 news reporter cornell barnard has been busy out there. he is joining us live from the embarcadero in san francisco. cornell found some downed trees out there. cornell? >> reporter: yeah, dion and eric, found some downed trees and so much more. would you believe, rain, hail, and snow. check it out. lots of dark clouds over the east bay right now, which may have brought some of our wild weather today. check outailrm which totally pelted montclair village in oakland on sunday. loud enough for you? there was so much hail in the oakland hills, it look like a snowy tahoe wonderland.

>> put a scoop in your hand. let's see. is it like snow? >> reporter: there was real snow falling on mount hamilton at the lick observatory. the rain was also back, making driving treacherous. the chp says this car spun out on rain slicked highway 24 near the broadway exit. luckily, the driver wasn't hurt. in san francisco, lots of umbrellas were back on duty. >> it is getting to be a lot. it's been wet every day. >> reporter: this tree fell in oakland overnight blocking traffic at 56th and mccar thur. this tree toppled near 380 in san our soil is saturated past the point, it can't take any more rain. >> reporter: this arborist says homeowners should look for anything unusual at the base of trees on their property. >> if you see any roots that are coming up that's a red flag, warning, this tree is hazardous and needs to be dealt with. >> reporter: many folks admit after a long winter they need a break from the elements. are you ready for spring.

this is the final week for the mavericks surf contest to be held. the window for the event closes this friday. >> in december organizers decided against holding the competition because the waves were actually too big, reaching 50 feet that didn't keep surfers away who decided to take advantage of the giant swells at the legendary half moon bay surf spot. >> yeah. lots of wave there is. >> huge. >> for us it's been some rain. let's see how long it is going to be with us. here's lisa argen. >> it's been with us the bulk of the weekend. that was kind of a washout. we still have a couple more hours where the weather will continue to change.

in the evening hours we will see less shower activity. a live look outside. look at the ho clouds, the higher clouds, the cumulus clouds. with that and the unstable atmosphere the rain continued to come down today. amounts were hefty in the east bay with the hail, the thunder. around mount diablo and livermore picked up .4. just a wum hundredths in the north bay. a quarter inch in the peninsula and redwood city. this is where we are seeing the rain showers continuing to sink to the south. pacifica, and the east bay. and you will see those throughout the evening hours before thing begin to shut down. live doppler 7. you can see the rotation offshore. it is beginning to fill in and sink to theout south. that means a little less dynamic than it has been. noms look at all the green pushing up into the san francisco, in the north bay as well. lighter showers from pen grove through novato, sears point.

well. heavy showers will be decreasing throughout the evening hours. then we have a sunny and milder start to the week on monday. it will be a spring preview throughout the entire week. by the end of the week some of the warmest temperatures we have seen in quite some time. tonight, notice we have showers from voyage. perhaps a couple of heavy downpours, livermore and the south bay. if you are headed out tonight, don't be surprised if you see some of those showers. as the sun sets they go away and we are waking up to chilly numbers, 30s and 40s. no rain for your monday. monday morning ride may be pamp pavement. into tuesday we have a weak weather system that will provide a few clouds and breezy winds buothing else in terms of rainfall. in fact, after tonight, it looks pretty good. look at the 60s. we have seen seen 60s in a long time. 26 in san jose. 58 in richmond. sunny skies. in tomorrow in san jose we will see low 60s a. bit of a drop on tuesday. and numbers into low 70s by next weekend. in a, upper 70s to 60s tomorrow

now, abc 7 sports with mindi bach. >> raiders fans are finally smiling. the nfl's leader in receiving touchdowns from last season is coming to oakland. the raiders have agreed to trade a third and fifth round pick to the steelers in he can change for antonio brown. they also reworked brown's contract increasing his pay roughly $12 million to $51.125 million over the next three years. the win for brown is that $30.125 million of that is guaranteed. he had no more guaranteed money under his three ypittsburgh. the raiders also traded their left guard and a sixth round pick to the jets. in return, oakland will get a fih round pick from new york replacing the one they lost the pittsburgh. assembly missed five games with toe and knee injuries. the a's and giants each had
