((dave courvoisier)) she's live at the results counting center downtown. karen? ((karen castro)) there were a few hiccups here at meet las vegas. the nevada democratic website crashed so results were coming in a bit slower. we're told the website was just overwhelmend with the high volume of traffic. hillary clinton has given her victory speech but results are still being counted. at last check, 87-percent of the precincts have reported... with clinton at 53-percent and bernie sanders at 47-percent. this is the biggest lead for clinton. through out the day as results started coming in, the race was dead heat. a number of times it was split right the middle. in fact, we're told at least of handful of deck of cards were handed out to break up ties. one was actually used in pahrump.

participated in today's democratic caucuses. (( )) ((karen castro)) the nevada democratic party says 31- thousand nevadans pre- registered for the causes. that number is expected to be a lot higher with polling places doing on-site registration. in all, there are 17-hundred precincts in nevada. about 12- hundred of them are in the southern part of the state. senator harry reid is holding a press conference to talk about it at 6-30 at the container park in downtown las vegas. reporting live, karen castro, 8 news now. investigators say 27 year old melissa yvette mendoza and 27 year old jennifer margarita chicas were shot and killed -- just outside the cosmopolitan hotel. the violence started inside the miracle mile parking garage.. across the street. it escalated to a report of shot fired near the panaroma towers. one victim was found shot inside a car at the cosmo's valet -- and a woman's body found lying in the street. metro is looking for a dark gray 2015 toyota camry driven by a black male in his early 20's connected to this incident./// ((denise valdez)) > metro police

shooting on the east side. officers responded to reports of gunshots in the area of lake mead and marion drive. an adult male was found with a gunshot wound. he was taken to u-m-c where he later died. detectives believe the shooting stemmed from a robbery. police have not made an arrest. if you have any information you're asked to call crimestoppers./// ((dave courvoisier)) > two people are behind bars... in two separate child abuse cases in north las vegas. cynthia lavender is accused of murder. police say she was watching a good friend's five month old boy....and admitted to throwing the baby and later dropping the baby...the infant did not survive. alejandra robles is accused of child abuse and neglect. police say she was working at an unlicensed daycare and admitted to throwing a seven month old child who will have injuries for the rest of his life. north las vegas police want to remind parents to call authorities if you see anything that is cause for concern./// ((dave courvoisier)) > supreme court justice antonin scalia was laid to rest today.

---------------------- in the short term...through monday night -- a ridge of high pressure is expected to develop over the area during the next 48 hours keeping well above normal temperatures along with light winds over most areas. winds down the colorado river will generally be in the 10-15 mph range saturday with an increase into the 15-25 mph range sunday. the models indicate the ridge strengthening monday off the west coast with a piece of energy diving southeast along the front side of the ridge. this energy is expected to remain far enough north and east of the cwa as is pushes through monday...but we could see a few lower clouds across lincoln county...but most areas will continue to see periods of high clouds. the main concern with this feature will be an increase in north to northeast winds monday afternoon across the eastern half of the area and especially the colorado river.
