((michael stevens)) >> kirsten, listen to this... about 8-hundred million bucks is up for grabs... and it's all from unclaimed property from people like you and me. the treasures office just released their 30-page annual ad in the review journal. they're required to do it by law. in the ad it lists everyone's name with some sort unclaimed property here in the state and the treasures office wants you to take back. last week the ran a similar ad in reno... as a result they paid out nearly 2-million dollars in claims this week. the treasurers office says they expect to pay back even more after today: (( we've had people submit claims for a penny. and we've had people submit claims for over 500 thousand dollars. so really you never know what's out there. )) ((michael stevens)) >> the treaseurs office says the unclaimed property ranges from old paychecks...

((kirsten joyce)) two people were hit and killed on valley roadways in a matter of hours overnight. the second happened around 5:30 this morning near sahara and eastern on burham avenue. a construction worker arriving on the scene found the man dead and called police. eventually returned to the scene an hour later.. and told police he left because he was scared. metro says the driver was not impaired. the driver will be charged with felony hit and run./// ((kirsten joyce)) hours before that... another man was killed while crossing the street and boulder highway and nellis. police say the man was crossing the street against the signal. they say it appears the driver was not impaired or speeding. those two make 64 pedestrians killed in metro's jurisdictions so far this year: ((sgt. richard strader // metro police:

a major rock fall has closed a highway that leads into zion national park in utah. you can see the picture of the boulder in the road here behind me. it was caused by a major thunderstorm. the park itself.. open. but the a flash flood warning means most of the slot canyons are closed. the zion-mount carmel highway leads into the park the arizona side... but you can still acess it by taking highway 59 from hurricane utah./// ((kirsten joyce)) ((sherry swensk))
this afternoon. ...................... i think we'll reach just above 100 again today at 101. we had 70s around the valley this morning and we should do that again tomorrow morning. ................ nights are getting longer and so the early morning temps should be cooler, but that will be hard to do when we heat up again this weekend. ............... skies should stay clear tonight... and that will be great for viewing meteors! the perseids will peak tonight and if you get far away from the bright city lights - you may see up to 200 per hour. ................ we will stay dry and breezy... and then a big heat up this weekend again. .................. the perseids shoot to their peak tonight and could see 200 per hour! ... we wound up making it above 100 degrees yesterday afterall. all the way to 103 again with the help of the winds. but because the air is so dry, it didn't feel all that hot. ............. winds will be lighter today and we'll stay dry...
