((nia wong)) >> 31 year-old kenneth robinson now faces a charge of open murder.... police say they believe the 7 year old died sunday from >> investigators say the boy was with his mother...robinson and four other children at the seigel suites on boulder highway near flamingo... when he was hurt. the child's name and official cause of death has yet to be released by the coroners office. but police say the boy had ligature marks and signs that point to child abuse. robinson is not a family member of the child and was booked into the clark county detention center. neighbors we spoke with say police activity is a common

underway .. after an nhp trooper shot and killed a suspect in carson city. this happened yesterday morning ... when police received calls about gunshots in the office of an apartment complex. the department says the trooper gave the suspect multiple warnings to put the shotgun down, but he did not obey commands .... so the trooper was forced to open fire. the trooper was not injured... the douglas county sheriff's office is now investigating./// ((brian loftus)) new report out this morning airliners final moments.. shot of the suspect-- scott michael green. we've learned metro has also been informed about the suspect and vehicle description and are currently monitoring the situation. now .. this all happened a few hours ago ... when investigators responded to reports of shots fired .. and found the officer shot in his vehicle. then, while searching for a suspect and evidence .. police found another officer shot about 20 minutes later in an intersection about 2 miles away ... while describing the shooting during a press conference a short time ago, police became of their own: (( des moines police sgt. paul parizek: in all appearances, it looks just like that.. that these officers were ambushed. on the surface right now, we're just a few hours into this.. it doesn't look like there was any interaction between these officers and whoever the coward is that shot them while they sat in their cars gets emotional that's the best we got right now, that both of them were in their cars. ))

officers in the area are in danger right now and the department has doubled up patrols for their safety./// ((kirsten joyce)) a new report out this morning ... detailing the final moments of the malaysia airlines plane that crashed into the sea in 2014. the plane was out of control and spiraling towards the sea when it made its last satellite communication. this new report is from the australian transport safety bureau, which leads the search. the report suggests no one was controlling the plane when it rat it gives the clearest picture yet of the missing jet's final moments as it descended at up to 25-thousand feet per minute. the plane went down in a remote part of the indian ocean off western australia with 239 people on board./// ((brian loftus)) a local volunteer .. gets an a- plus for her good work ... students, this week's acts of kindness recipient...goes to one of those individuals at roger bryan elementary school. ((kirsten joyce)) as a third grade teacher joslyn calaway is always multi-tasking, and she finds there are never enough hours in the day.... . we're always battling time, and balancing different priorities for kids. ((kirsten joyce)) she couldn't get it all done without the help of megan swartz... " wash them out with hot water... "if you could double side copy one of these." ((kirsten joyce)) running errands, doing what many consider.. the monotonous work of copying, and... stapling,. but it's important work... i can't even count the hours that she's saved me this year... it frees us up to do things like spend one on one, small groups, working with kids that need extra help... she's really blessed my life this year, for sure . ((kirsten joyce)) the majority of volunteers in classrooms have a child in the class. miss megan does not. yet she's here every day, five days a week, all day long.
