that's what residents in one valley neighborhood are experiencing.. an asphalt plant and gravel pit is right across the street from their homes. residents are concerned of a proposed expansion to the wells cargo site.

but the area is working to get county permission to create a bigger site. some residents have called the county air quality department.. when the dust becomes too much: ((steve williamson/resident: "it's not just a thin layer, it's a heavy layer. i've never seen anything like it." "you get a plume coming out of the pits. it'll linger for a while then go away. if they come out in two hours they're not going to see a thing." )) ((kirsten joyce)) >> wells cargo issued a statement about the location that has been operating since 1963...in part saying... e proactive approaches to minimize impact and to ensure that dust and operating emissions are within allowable limits and do not exceed the federal, state and county regulations." they say they've moved the location of the proposed expansion on their property.. which is further away from the homes to minimize impact. the issue goes before the clark county commission next wednesday. /// ((kirsten joyce)) two musicians are showing off their talents right here in studio... this weekend is the roll- n- roll marathon.. it's the world's largest nighttime running event... this year, the finish line will be in front of the mirage volcano... and the run- thru wedding chapel will also be making a comeback. last year, about 45- thousand people took part in the event. /// ((kirsten joyce)) and downtown living keeps getting more convenient. next week..
