shooting of a sioux city police officer. 3 our jetske wauran was at his first court appearance this afternoon. jetske, just what crimes is he accused of? 3 3 isaiah mothershed is believed to have shot and wounded sioux city police officer ryan moritz on sunday...and this afternoon, he made his first court appearance, inside the booking room at the woodbury county law enforcement center. 3 days after he was involved in a police shooting, isaiah mothershed made his first court appearance thursday afternoon."it is believe that you committed these offenses. financial circumstances, i have appointed attorney matt metzgar to represent you."over the last 3 months the 18- year-old has been linked to six violent crimes where he utilized crowbars, pistol whipped a victim, assualted a 19 year old man with special needs, and nearly shot a woman, to the latest incident where he fired a gun at a sioux city police officer on february 7th. "i would advise you now that you now that you are not required to make a

you do make may be used against you during trial."now, are learning more about the violent crimes committed over the last 3 months.. according to court documents,on january 29 mothershed entered a home in the 2200 block of pierce street where he allegedly stole guns and pistol whipped the victim open a safe that contained several guns. that spree continued, on february 5th he he broke into a residence with a crowbar in the 4500 block of polk street where he was confronted by the homeowner and mothershed shot out the back window of the home to escape and fired a shot at a women. february 6th, he lured a victim to valley park apartments, and held her at gunpoint..then on february 7th, he pulled a 40-caliber handgun, shooting officer ryan moritz on the inner thigh of his left leg.mothershed's charges, each a class b felony, carry a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison. "i do have to advise you that if convicted of those charges, mothershed would be required to serve 70-percent

eligible for parole or work release." 3 3 his bond is set 3 at 300- thousand dollars. his next court appearance will be a preliminary hearing... which is scheduled to take place at 9 a-m-. on february 19th. 3 3 a man arrested in 2014 for impersonating a sioux city police officer will spend the next few years behind bars.31- year- old joey alberts of sioux city was sentenced to 7 years in prison. he was accused of impersonating an officer and "patrolling" downtown sioux city for more than a year... patting down young girls between the ages of 11 and 13. as part of a plea agreement... alberts pleaded guilty to charges of enticing a minor, indecent contact with a minor, and impersonating a public official.the 2- year sentences for the indecent contact and impersonating charges will be

will follow a 5- year sentence for enticing a minor. 3 3 traffic is back to normal on highway 20 between iowa and nebraska after a scary afternoon.just after 3 o'clock... a pepsi truck heading west into nebraska lost control on a patch of ice... hitting the outer wall on the bridge that crosses the missouri river... and nearly falling into the water below. traffic was slowed for a time by the accident... which injured the driver of the truck. the truck was towed away and the road reopened at around 4 o'clock. 3 3 briar cliff university's "charger dome" in south sioux city is back in business tonight.the dome was damaged by last week's blizzard... requiring it to be deflated for repairs.those repairs began monday... and were completed yesterday afternoon. it took a little more than two hours to reinflate this morning. 3 "it up then they can do an inspection on the inside and see if they missed something or what happen when we deflated it.// and we'll be able to get it up and hopefully we will be operational by at least by

for briar cliff coaches... who say they've missed out on valuable practice time in the dome this past week. 3 "being in season the panic mood kind of hits us as a coach running your mind on how long this is going to be down, where am i going to go for practice for the next weeks, months, whatever it would have been. it was nice to know its going to be completed here. we have some inside work cleaning and getting some light put up and everything yet. it's a great feeling that we will be in their pretty soon. just to see it come to life."the launchpad children's museum is open every day except monday.there's an 8 dollars entry fee. yearly, family memberships start at 85 dollars. 3 some siouxland elementary students enjoyed a musical field trip today to the orpheum theatre. 3 3 siouxland news reporter jaclyn driscoll got to tag along. she's hear with more on the big event. jaclyn? 3 diana, larry... 25 hundreds students packed into the orpheum theatre today to get a first hand look at the sioux city orchestra. 3 natsfrom beethoven to tchaikovsky(nats) to singing along to the stars and stripes forever(nats) thousands of 4th graders across siouxland got a first hand look at the sioux city orchestra. titled 'the sioux city orchestra's users guide'... this annual event gives students an introduction to instruments and the expression of emotions through

understand more about music than it just being background noise. it has meaning." with many of the students involved in music themselves"i'm in orchestra and i play the violin." the event provided an opportunity to learn more. "you can play a lot more sounds on the violin than i thought. the children also participated in 'orchestras feeding america,' by donating nonperishable food items to benefit the foodbank of siouxland. "i think last year we had about 500 pounds of food that they brought and this year looks like it's even more than that. it was quite impressive as they came in and the pile kept getting higher and higher."the sioux city orchestra celebrates it's 100 year anniversary this year. and with the thousands of excited young children, the orchestra looks to have plenty come. 3 the students got to show off their knowledge in a guided quiz of the different sections of the orchestra and were able to hear different sounds from all of the instruments.

3 3 the iowa senate is taking action to block governor branstad's proposed privatization of medicaid.this afternoon, lawmakers approved a bill to terminate the state's contracts with three managed- care organizations.three republican senators joined all 26 democrats in voting for the bill... which supporters say comes after receiving letters of concern from hundreds of iowans who will be impacted by the switch and not having those questions answered by the administration.leaders in the republican- controlled arrival there. 3 3 the iowa utilities board has wrapped up its *fourth* day of hearings on the proposed bakken oil pipeline. the pipeline would run through 17 iowa counties... including several in northwest iowa. it is opposed by environmentali sts and property rights groups... but has already won state approval already in north and south dakota, and illinois.the company behind the project says it's gotten

association. he finished with a 14-2 record and a 1.80 e-r- a, lowest in the entire league! he finished in the top five in wins, complete games, and shutouts. with the re-signing of zimmerman the x's now have five players back from their record breaking 2015 team! 3 the morningside women's basketball is just collecting all the hardware lately! following last night's win over dakota wesleyan for the outright gpac championship, the woman who led all scorers with 32 points, jessica tietz has just been named to the academic all-district team. it means she's now on the ballot for the national team. the bancroft nebraska native has a 3.64 gpa and is the top scorer and rebounder on the defending champion mustangs this season. 3 it was a tough loss for iowa state last night as they made just three field goals in the final 6 minutes 11 seconds of regulation in an 85-82 overtime loss to texas tech. after the game head coach steve prohm and his players
