nimitz freeway, we have the-car accident. i am updating this near whipple road as you head out of fremont and hayward. you have four cars involved and one is a big rig that might stay in lanes. two cars in the center and on the right. we have slowing for everybody. it's a good alternate if you can get over there. just stick it out and it will be clearing. clear towards 92. livermore snowing an unusual pattern and we had slowing. speeds below 50 towards livermore, but suddenly it cleared up over 15 minutes. livermore and pleasant and dublin. back to you. >> struck him out! for the first time since 1954, the giants are the world champions. >> that's the strike out that sparked an all night celebration. some fans are still out there.

6:06 am
parade and you were lucky enough to get close, perhaps you could get them to sign it. >> a nice ball with tim lincecum's name on it would be great. >> more thing that was interesting. you guys had the mugs and you were saying that once the giants started to get up in the series, you started seeing stuff like this. >> after two, we had the mugs and the pint glasses in the back room ready to go in case they won. the rest of the stuff didn't get printed until less than 12 hours ago. >> quickly, the black shirt we mentioned is popular, they only have three of them. i was speaking with the manager who told me they are going to take a ride at about 10:00 this morning and pick up more. they should have more in here today. that's the latest from here reporting live in san francisco. >> is that your phone? >> my phone is ringing. again. we will go ahead and answer that next order for you.

6:08 am
what made this team champions? >> i can't breathe. besides the fact that we are just this unified group, this is not a guy here who had a personal idea on the side. we were pulling on the same rope at the same time. special every way about it. >> it's a journey. sloo life is a journey. >> one of the greatest rides i will ever be on in my life. i'm so proud to have this jerzo and be a part of this team. every one of us without a single person pulling on that rope, we wouldn't be champions. san francisco champions for you guys. >> thank you so much. congratulations. >> pretty exciting. >> that are is pretty cool. >> i am scurrying around to get to the airport. i will stop by the ballpark one last time and set the scene. everyone will remember the ballpark at arlington before they have the first interleague game.
6:09 am
now you will never forget this one. >> no doubt. have a safe flight. >> go wash your hair and brush your teeth. we will see you coming up at 6:45. >> will do it. >> we are celebrating the championship parade. it will take place tomorrow at montgomery and washington in the financial district at 11:00 a.m. and work down montgomery to market at the civic center. it was the same route the team took when they came to the city from new york in 1958. get there early if you want a good spot, but the best seat in the house will be here as we carry it live. >> we will have live reports from the city and the answer to the question everybody wants to know. what happens now to brian wilson's beard? >> go to see interviews and find everything you need to know about the upcoming celebrations.

she got caught in insider deals at goldman sachs. she changed her story about physically abusing an employee. she campaigned as tough as nails on immigration knowing her housekeeper of 9 years was undocumented. her tv ads have been condemned as false and misleading. and even her hometown newspaper said meg whitman has demonstrated "a loose relationship with the truth"

around 45 minutes from now, the gubernatorial race has been hotly debate and contentious. today in the bay joins us live with more on the race for governor. chris? >> in the polls, the race for governor was neck and neck for a long time and in the last couple of weeks see saw a gap open up. jerry brown was out on the campaign trail enjoying a 10-point lead in the polls yesterday and celebrating the san francisco giants world series win. he said he sell be out trying to persuade voters today. he is going to vote in oakland today. whitman said it's not over until it's over and her internal polls give her the edge and she is no throwing in the towel soon. she won't vote today. she did early voting last week. you listened up on that one.
6:16 am
rank choice voting is in effect today for the first time. you want to put your candidates in order of choice. a, b, and c. don't put the same candidate for all three because it only counts as the first choice and you have no second and third choice. there is another curiosity for treasurer of san pablo today. there is a chance voters could elect a candidate who passed away a month ago. charles nicholas still appears on the ballot. if elected, the council can appoint somebody or call an election. there write in candidates trying to vie for that one. we will talk about one of the other high profile races in california. we will talk about the boxer and

upset, i think it would be fiorina winning the race. >> let's talk about voter turn out and i know from the democratic side, you see a push to get as many people to the polls as possible. president obama was here and the first lady was here to get out the vote. what do you think is going to happen? >> i think voter turn out will be pretty low. you will see a figure talked about in the 50%, 54 or 55 or something like that. people say that sounds good. that's only a small part of the story. there a little more than 17 million registered voters, but 23.5 million californians who are adult citizens and non-felons eligible to vote. if we get 9 million people voting, that's more than 60% of folk who is are eligible to vote in california not voting. that's really the message of this election. it's this message that in state

elections like this one, the majority of california adults don't think their vote matters. this is a deeper conversation, but there is arguments that they're at least partly right. many of the things, particular low legislative races that we don't talk about have been decided for they get to the polls. >> that's the big thing. this might be one of the years of change where people want to change. maybe they will show up. that's the way it's gone in history. >> thank you very much for joining us early this morn. can check out joe's writing on prop zero on and search prop zero. >> the united states supreme court will talk video gyms and at issue, the california law that is talking about the violent video games off lips to kids. >> we are following the loss in 2005.
6:20 am
>> they never ever enforced it and struck down the law in the circuit of appeals. california keeps defending it and it's before the united states supreme court. at question is whether the law the way it's written is constitutional. is it constitutional to take one media, video games and make a special case not protected by free speech? who gets to decide that? i want to point out something. we are showing video of a violent video gayle here, but the california law addresses games far more violent than this, the kind we wouldn't dare show on television. >> this is about protecting kids. there is ample evidence that demonstrates these video games are harmful to our children. that's why we are here. >> they spent at least a quarter million dollars defending the laws. the opponents have to pay every time california loses.
6:21 am
that doesn't include the california fees and the legal fees that california has racked up in the process. >> you brought up an interesting point. that was why are you regulating just video games when you can have violent content in books and movies? >> absolutely. if it's okay in a poem to talk about a violent death, why is it not okay in a video game? that's a critical question. >> it gets back to the freedom of speech. >> exactly. >> in the meantime, san francisco giants we have been talking about. that's the big story besides the election. they are the world champions of major league baseball. a lot of fans are thinking about next year's roster. a lot of fans have been wanting to know what's going to happen with barry zito with three years left on his $126 million contract. the team general manager said zito will stay put. he told the l.a. times he is not going to trade zito. he was left off of the postseason roster.

6:23 am
is that all the grown men turn into little boys. i love it. >> i love his reaction. what? shave the beard? >> i think you guys should all start growing them. >> fair enough. if we start now, maybe by august or so? >> i told you guys, i have been growing my beard. >> i don't see it yet. >> shave this? no. we have the accident update for the cars that are involved in the earlier accident in union city. all off to the side of the road. the right hand shoulder and that's why traffic is moving. slow past union landing and targeted on the other side approaching whipple. that is the extent of the slowing. you are okay towards the dumbarton bridge and okay by the time you reach the san mateo bridge. a nice easy drive for the freeway, but the heat metering lights have been turned on, queueing the build up of traffic towards the area. traffic management watches the amount of traffic and gauge when
