hatch done it again. late tonight, they eliminated the washington nationals. a wild scene at the ballpark. after the game, a wild scene in the clubhouse. pure joy and assortment of speeches. drinks and cigars. of course the giants now advance to the national league championship series where they'll take on the cardinals in st. louis beginning saturday evening. we have team coverage tonight. first things first. the party continues in san francisco. jean elle at the ballpark. covering celebrations for the past five years. >> has it been that long, raj. i will tell you always a good time. but boy is it stressful getting here. fans right now are still celebrating. but they were on pins and needles tonight. from the first pitch to the last pitch. tonight. players and fans delivered for a win. i feel amazing right now. i could explode. an explosion of giants pride

this. the seven game series, begins in st. louis on saturday. the series shifts to san francisco. next to tuesday, wednesday, thursday. giants coverage also on our nbc bay area twitter page. we post multiple in game updates. >> breaking news out of san francisco. police are investigating an officer involved shooting. we don't know a lot. we do know it happened near 2nd and bryant. blocks from at & t park. san francisco police are there. at this point though it is unclear who was shot or why an officer fired at that person. but of course we will continue to look into it. other breaking news, deadly crash of a cal fire tanker near yosemite park. within the last hour we received confirmation the pilot has died. he crashed while helping battle a new wildfire. one that started earlier today. nbc bay area's terry mcsweeney is in mariposa county with more on the crash site and efforts to get to it. >> reporter: yeah, that fire, dog rock fire.

still burning tonight. you can look up there and see the flames. we have a full moon tonight. despite that you can see the flames up against the night sky. still burning on the mountain behind me. again we are west of the western entrance of yosemite national park. take a look at the map. where all this is happening. the fire, about a mile west of the entrance to yosemite. and, now the plane that crashed, an s 2,000. tanker, carries fire retardant. that's what it was sent up to do. shortly after the fire broke out at 2:30 this afternoon. we are told, 4:30, 2. 30. after the fire broke out. two hours after the plane crashed into the mountainside. killing the pilot. one person on board. the pilot. crews had to battle through rough ter ran to get to that site to confirm that he was dead. and they say the plane pretty much disintegrated. famently asking his name is not released. the fire by the way in its first two hours, burned 135 acres.

a $17 million budget surplus. $17 million. city councilman, pro posed taking $2 million from that surplus, to combat the recent surge in home burglaries. he wants to subsidize city residents for buying items, alarm systems and security cameras. the council mixed the idea. members plan to use sur flus hire additional police officers. take a look what is happening in free mont. a string of weekend thefts. caught on surveillance video. three tech businesses were hit. here is the video. police believe the same men were involved in all three crimes. close to $2 million worth of computers and video production equipment were stolen. >> we are all terrified of being here late at night now. >> not like the people went door to door. just happened to get this. they were definitely. >> workers say criminals cased it out the week before. by claiming to be building inspectors. they also say burglars cut phone lines and network cables before they entered.

>> now to our on going coverage of the ebola virus. santa clara county health leaders say they're getting ready in case. there is only one confirmed case in texas. but the health department is working closely with local hospitals and doctors to make sure they clearly understand what to look for and what questions to ask. especially important. checking travel histories. asking patients whether they have been to the ebola hot zone of liberia, guinea, sierra lee yoen. they're watching closely and learning from other hospitals, treating ebola patients. >> one is the crucial, crucial importance of identifying a person infected with ebola early. to do that that means education awareness among health care providers. >> health oi officials say there is gaps in their plans. they need to identify a company trained to remove and transport infectious waste and find place for people who may have been

transplant heart. america's longest living pediatric heart transplant recipient. the heart she got as a baby has proven strong as an adult. nbc bay area's cheryl hurd is live in palo alto. you met her at the hospital there for a reunion of sorts? >> she was a wonderful woman. in fact i got a chance to meet her parents. i actually met the doctor who place herd new heart in her body, 30 years ago. and i met her new husband. all made possible because 30 years ago some one gave lizzy the gift of life. this t-shirt is proof shes ren'tly ran a half marathon in san jose. this baby picture showing her scar is proof she is a survivor. >> they told my parents, life expectancy with a new transplant was five years. and here i am today, hitting 30 years. >> 30 years with the same heart. a heart she received when she

was 2 years old. >> i let people find out on their own. growing up my mom would tell me. and i feel look people would always be like, oh, is she going to need an oxygen tank. is she okay going to be able to walk. >> she is walking, running marathons and living her life as america's longest surviving pediatric heart transplant recipient to live with an original donor heart. >> the time, you know, one of the big questions, will that heart grow? lizzy was within of the patients who pioneered this. so that we could actually do the studies that showed that in fact hearts, hearts would grow if you put them into young children. >> doctors here at lucille children's hospital stanford have done countless heart transplants like this one since 1984. but bringing together lizzy, her parents, stanford medical family from 30 years ago and her new husband made this anniversary special. >> how did she say? >> why do i have to take all these pills? i said, because -- you're dying

and you were taking all these pills. they weren't helping you. so now you have a heart transplant and you are going to grow. you are going to be well. >> lizzy is doing well. is strong. and looking ahead to the future. >> now, lizzy's parents know what it is look to lose children to heart disease. in fact, they lost three children to the same genetic heart defect that lizzy has. they also have a son who has had two heart transplants, but he is surviving. not sure how lizzy will celebrate her 30th birthday tomorrow. reporting live, i'm cheryl hurd, nbc bay area news. >> incredible story. thank you, cheryl. >> a new twist for facebook. soon you will be able to use facebook anonymously under a specifically designed app. social networking site is working on an app that allows users to interact without using their real names or even a name at all. it is still not ser ton if that app will work in concert with

>> yes, the san francisco giants heading to the nlcs, of course. and in awesome style tonight. we had a little fog around the stadium. you could still see the bay bridge, rather back here behind us. but right down into the city. again. plenty of fog at the current moment. the fog. helped drop temperatures. check out the north bay. 55 degrees. 57 in san francisco. it hasn't been 67p in the east bay at 11:00 at night here. in all of october. so, you are starting to feel at least a little bit of relief. down here in the south bay right now. 60 degrees. the clear sky we have got in the south bay, probably, some incredible weather we think here to got a view of the lunar eclipse. happening from 2:14 to 4:24. set the clock for a couple hours. want to see that. should have a fantastic view. get back on over here. and get you into the morning forecast. with temperatures this cool in the mid 50s in the north bay. we are going to be close to the 40s in the north bay.
