the south bay, tonight. hours after a tesla caught not once but twice. we're following breaking news in the south bay. tonight, hours after a tesla caught fire and firefighters put it out, the electric car reignited once again. good evening. thanks for joining us. this all started when the driver went in to fax flat tire. he came out with his car on

fire. jean elle joins us. in the past hour it caught fire again. >> reporter: the first fire was in los gatos. this fire is in campbell. this is the tesla that is keeping firefighters so busy tonight. it burst into flames in los gatos and was towed their campbell around 8:00 tonight. less than two hours later, it was in flames again. we have video of the car burning at dick's automotive transport. the car was engulfed in flames when crews got here. the crews are once again pouring water on it, hoping to keep the battery cool and prevent a third fire in this tesla. the first happened around 2:00 this afternoon. sxhoek then flames poured out of the tesla. minutes after a tow truck driver dropped the car and its owner off with a flat tire. the owner took this video of his electric car on fire.

>> there's smoke coming out of the bonnet, right? so we tried to open the door. the guy said don't do anything. we'll call the fire department. >> reporter: they put the flames out with foam and water with bu stayed for hours. >> occasionally we'll notice some gas will come out and notice an increase in the heat and we'll start the cooling process. >> reporter: the owner didn't want to share his name but said he's had it since september. >> it is a brand new car. it only has 1,200 miles on it. >> reporter: no one knows why it went up in flames and after back and forth, the owner arranged to have it towed. he said the lack of customer service and safety centers steering him from replacing the car. >> no more teslas. this could have been in the house and we were on vacation, if this caught fire in the

garage, the whole house could have caught fire. >> reporter: the santa clara firefighters say it looks like they'll be out here for several hours, once again baby sitting the tesla, hoping to put out the flames if the batteries reignite before it bursts into flames once again. they tone think a representative will come out don't. the company issued a statement saying they are investigating the fire in this car and they're reheaved to know no one was hurt. i don't know what they're going to say about this car bursting into flames, first in los gatos and now in campbell. reporting live. >> a busy night for firefighters and tesla. well, tesla's reigniting, that's not unheard of. on march 23rd, a tesla caught fire on southbound 101. the driver in this crash was killed. the car was taken on a tow yard where the battery reignited two

more times within 24 hours and then again six days later. new at 11:00, a scary situation in a south bay neighborhood. a car crashed into a house. this is near flint avenue. you see a pg&e truck outside the home. the car apparently heard is sheared a gas meter. it could be a dangerous drive to work or school tomorrow. a live look over san francisco. pretty clear tonight but that's all about to change. >> it looks like we could see some lower visibility over marin, napa, and then as we head into 5:00 in the morning, we see it reduced from concord to oakland.

the boy is at ucsf in oakland on life support. president trump's travel ban had prevented the mother from flying here until today. a visa was granted. nbc bay area's cheryl hurd has the details. this is such a heart breaking story. >> reporter: it is. it has been so emotional for this family. the father is upstairs right now with his son along with his support system. they are all waiting for the little boy's mother to arrive here tomorrow night. ali is in the hospital lobby after taking a dinner break from his place upstairs which isch has been at the bed side of his 2-year-old son abdullah hasan who is clinging to life on a vent lator. if all goes as planned, the boy's mother will arrive tomorrow night with visa in hand granted by the u.s. state department. >> it was the best day ever. i'm glad my wife got her visa. >> reporter: getting that visa

has been a fight because his wife is from yemen. one of seven countries under president trump's travel ban. the congressman has been working the family for a month to get her here. he along with barbara lee and another representative from california sent this letter to secretary of state michael pompeo, urging him to give the mother a waiver. >> the policies that caused this are the problem. we need on attack those. for now, the urgency was to get this woman to had country so she could be with her son. >> reporter: doctors say he may only have days to live. he was born with a brain condition. that's why his father, who is a u.s. citizen, brought him here for treatment. even though things look grim for his son, hasan is thankful. >> happiness. she is going to see her son. >> reporter: hasan's wife's visa is a spousal visa which means she can stay here in the u.s. permanently. allowing her to join her family for what little time they have

left. >> okay. wishing them comfort during this difficult time. police released the surveillance video hoping someone would recognize the driver of the car. now they believe they know make-up of the car. it has front end damage. the driver plowed into 58-year-old killing the driver, killing her, the pedestrian. you saw the driver. she got out of the vehicle for a few seconds and then drove off. five years later in the shooting death of a teenager is still raw in santa rosa. today the sheriff's department said they will faye family $3 million. a deputy spotted lopez with what he thought was an assault rifle. he ordered the boy to drop the gun. as he turned around, the deputy fired eight times. it turned out it was a bb gun.

the only difference is the waves. they're still rough. once we hit thursday, the waves will improve and call down quite a bit. 68 lake the mission. more for 50s and low 60s right here through marin, nappa, sonoma counties. we'll get you through this. tomorrow, the ground fog developing. nothing major that will linger into friday morning. by saturday, king tides return. the highest of high tides. we could get some beach erosion then. and once we hit sunday night, another chance of some showers move in. that will push into monday.

tonight... in minneapolis. san jose taking on the minnesota the sharks playing their last road game before christmas in minneapolis. taking on the minnesota wild. plenty of shark fans to cheer the team on. the game was all sharks.

logan couture got the game started with a nice goal. then did it again in the third period. the sharks cruised to a 4-0 win. they played winnipeg at home on thursday. we now know which football players made the pro bowl despite the raiders and 49ers' struggles, both teams are represented. the 49ers will send two players, the tight end george kittle. the raiders have three pro bowl alternates, the tight end jarod cook and rodney hudson. they'll go to pro bowl if someone in their position drops out. it will be january 27th in orlando which is the sunday before the super bowl. a long line at a south bay mall and they're not buying gifts. we'll show what you all the fuss is about. i am a family man. i am a techie dad.
