let's go to lindsey matherly with a look at the forecast. high pressure off the west coast will build inland by this weekend and remain centered over the great basin through the middle of next week, keeping dry conditions over the eastern sierra and western nevada. below normal temperatures through friday will be followed by a steady warming trend into next week. &&.short term... the weak shortwave which brought light snow roughly north of susanville-lovelock yesterday evening has exited into eastern nv. we have removed all mention of precip for this morning. low amplitude ridge off the lanes are back open along i-580 by galena bridge after a serious rollover crash overnight. it happened just after midnight near the mt. rose exit. n-h-p tells us two cars were involved. one person was care flighted to the hospital with serious injuries.

caused the crash. we're getting a look at the two men who police believe were involved in a deadly shooting in south lake tahoe. police released these sketches. 40-year-old dennis wright junior was shot saturday night in the parking lot of the beverly lodge. police say wright and his girlfriend were trying to sell a hundred pounds of marijuana to these two men, who then robbed wright. he was shot several times. police believe the suspects drove off in a tan colored chrysler concorde like the one seen here. if you know anything... you're asked to call south lake tahoe police at 530-542-6100. ### the carson city sheriff's office is asking for your help to identify two burglars caught on camera. detectives say a man and woman stole large quantities of food and alcohol from the empire ranch golf course back on january 22nd at 1:30 in the morning. if you have any information, you're asked to call the sheriff's office at 887- 2013. ###

40 years in prison after he was found guilty of driving under the influence in a hit and run that left another man severly injured. investigators say 28- smoked marijuana and drank alcohol before the crash last august. blood tests showed wilson had a blood one-one-seven. he also had five times the legal limit of marijuana in his system. he's expected to be sentenced next month. toda a committee will be meeting later today to discuss the overcrowding problem facing many of the schools in washoe county. kolo 8 news now's matt vaughan has more on what they'll be focusing on at the meeting and how you can get involved in the conversation. at tonight's meeting ... this committee will be looking at different options for raising the money needed to repair older schools and build new ones to relieve overcrowding. at this week's state of education address ... superintendent traci davis made it clear that a solution needs to be found. otherwise ... it's going to have a major impact

"we understand that if we don't build schools, double sessions is going to happen in the next 5 years." as you heard davis mention ... if the funding isn't there ... some schools will have to push two rounds of students through each day. that would mean earlier start times in order to double a school's capacity. and some campuses could be put on year- round scheduling. the public schools overcrowding and repair needs committee will be meeting tonight to try and find a way to avoid these scenarios. the two options they'll be looking at are either sales tax only, or a combination of sales tax and property tax. in an earlier interview ... committee chair shaun carey said that it would take about a half cent increase in our sales tax rate to raise the needed funding. "that equates to about $8 a month for a family of four. $8 a month would provide you greatly improved schools and if you did this on property tax would be about $10 a month." once the committee

likely end up on the 2016 general election ballot. and since this would affect all washoe county residents ... they're hoping for input from the community. info there will be time set aside for public comment at tonight's meeting ... which starts at 6 p-m. it will be in building a of the washoe county administration complex. here at 1001 east ninth street. but keep in mind that this is a big decision and could take some time to sort out. n-v energy could be getting some competition if a new committee gets their way. "nevadans for energy choices" have filed a petition, with the nevada secretary of the state constitution and end the monopoly the measure would also make it easier for other providers to come to the state--- and in theory--lower your electric bill. more than 55-thousand signatures are needed-- to get the measure on the ballot. ###

down on drunk driving. federal officials are proposing lowering the legal blood alcohol limit. but would the proposal really make an impact? here's kolo 8 news now's catherine van. mos: a lot of people drink and drive and it's bad. mos: it's not going to stop people for sure. mos: they're going to drive drunk even if it's 0.00 if slinging back a few cocktails didn't stop you from getting behind the wheel before... a new proposal by the national transportation safety board might do the job. bill: it could possibly bring in more arrests. it's asking states to lower the legal limit by nearly half from .08 to .05. in the u.s... one-third of all highway deaths involved alcohol in the last 15 years. if the states adopt the standard... they could get more funding for highways. bill: if the states don't comply with the requests, then they try to provide incentives and the incentives are usually more traffic funding. nats of blowing

the equivalent to one drink for a woman who weighs less than 120 pounds... and about two drinks for a 160 pound man. or if you look at alcohol servings...a 12 ounce beer, a glass of wine or a shot is about a .02 difference....so having all three can easily put you over the limit and under arrest. individual and the amount of alcohol they drink and how their body metabolizes it, their reaction, how they're following , their vision. but even if the legal limit is lowered... lt. ames doesn't think it will make that much of a difference. bill: .15 which is almost twice the limit of what the state is now is about 70% or more of the fatal accidents are usually that involve alcohol. that was catherine van reporting a new hit-and-run law is handing down stricter penalties for drivers, who leave the scene of the crime. the law changes a hit and run-- with injuries-- from a misdemeanor to a felony. prior to october, hit- and-run drivers who left the scene, could
