fourth and spokane. they told him to put his hands up... but bowman unleashed a string of profanities... and pulled a gun from his waistband. that's when he was shot. the d-a says the killing was justified... because officers were protecting their own lives. ### for the first time... a 27-page report detailing the shooting... and why it was ruled justified... is available to the public. kolo 8 news now's colin lygren shows us how the d-a's office is trying to increase the transparency-- of officer involved shootings. they're some of the most rigorously investigated scenes... officer involved shootings. involved shootings that details his reasoning... behind a justifiable homicide ruling. "it is easy to reach a conclusion that might not be accurate, if you are misinformed, and that is the importance of this report. anybody can read it and i am confident that once you do, just about anybody would reach the same conclusion that i did." this first report is extremely detailed. in addition to pages of testimony from those involved... it has pictures of the suspect's. his holster... and dashcam stills... of him drawing on officers. "i leave it up to the public to review it or not. i would hope that they would because it is knowledgeable and it give accurate information as to what is going on and what happened at this particular case. i don't want everyone just to accept my word as fact, take a look at it yourself. and i am confident that people will have agreements in the decision making and the reporting process." in washoe county... colin lygren... kolo 8

50s. with snow still on the ground and light wind, patchy beauty have shut their doors to students and the public. that includes the school here in reno, which made the announcement today. the school is in hot water with the u-s department of education. that agency says marinello knowingly took student-aid for those who had no high school diploma. marinello also allegedly submitted false job placement rates of students-- to the department of ed. students in various stages of completing their education-- are forced to look at other schools. paul mitchell-- the school in reno, says its already talked to more than 25 marinello students, who don't want to let this set- back, stop them from reaching their goals. " doug christensen/paul mitchell the school reno owner: there are some logistics they have to do. but we want them to be assured, they have a home at paul mitchell the school. that we welcome them with open arms. and they don't need to worry about it."
