expected with daytime temperatures well above normal by next week. &&.short term... despite the continued melting of snow yesterday followed by cooling after sunset, we have not seen much fog develop a hit and run accident turned deadly in carson city last night... .after police say the suspect led them on a high speed chase in a stolen truck. it happened just before 8 o'clock in the area of college parkway and airport road. the sheriff's office says they tracked down the truck involved in the hit and run. when they approached the driver, they say he rammed their s-u-v then took off speeding. the suspect then lost control and crashed at the carson city airport. the driver was thrown from the truck and killed. we're told the truck was reported stolen earlier in the day. the washoe county district attorney has

september of 2014 was justified. james luke bowman had an outstanding warrant from the u-s marshals office. when detectives caught up with him near the intersection of fourth and spokane...they told him to put his hands up. bowman unleashed a string of profanities and pulled a gun from his waistband. that's when the detectives shot him. district attorney--chris hicks-- says the killing was justified because officers were protecting themselves and people nearby. ### the d-a is trying to increase the ansparency of officer involved shootings like reports public. his hope is that by providing the details-- the community will understand his reasoning behind his ruling. "it is easy to reach a conclusion that might not be accurate, if you are misinformed, and that is the importance of this report. anybody can read it and i am confident that once you do, just about anybody would reach the same conclusion that i did." to read the full report

kolo t-v dot com and click on hot topics. ### the reno man who hit a police officer with his car last august has been sentenced to ten years in prison. 25-year old russell roberts appeared in court yesterday. the judge saying roberts is a threat to the community. it all started in the parking lot of the imperial in which russell was reportedly threatening people with a gun. when an officer tried to talk to him, russell got in his car, hit him, then drove off. in court, he told the judge he didn't know the man was an officer. sattler: ":"you want me to believe that person who's pointing a flashlight at you with one hand and pointing a weapon at you with the other hand and giving you verbal commands and identifying himself as law enforcement and im sure in a full reno police deparment uniform, you just didnt know that he was a cop? roberts: "no, i didn't, you didn't? i didn't sir." butt with johnson: "all i wanted to do was talk. someone had told me that you had pointed a gun at somebody." roberts will have to

elgible for parole. he was also sentenced separately to four years on an unrelated drug trafficking charge. reno police are looking for this man in connection with a shooting in downtown reno back on january 3rd. he's described as white or hispanic and in his twenties with some facial hair. the shooting happened on west commercial row near west street. two people were treated for non-life threatening injuries. if you recognize this man, call secret witness at 322-4900. a decision on a proposal to tackle overcrowding in washoe county schools has been postponed for at least another week. last night, a committe in charge of fixing the issue discussed the best way to build new schools and fix the old ones. one option is a ballot question that would raise 781-million dollars over the next nine years... either by raising just the sales tax or by raising a combination of sales and property taxes. the discussion revolved around which fudning strategy would work best. "this is a defining moment for our community things will not

pathways, either repair existing schools and build new ones or we will go on double sessions year round two choices." if new schools aren't built, the superintendent says we'll have to go to double sessions. the committe will most likely vote on the issue at a meeting scheduled for next friday. things got heated on the debate stage last night-- as democratic presidental hopefuls hillary clinton and bernie sanders faced off in new hampshire. both on the defense when it comes to their attack lines on the campaign trail. abc's bazi kanani has a look at the fireworks. the top two democrats face-to-face for the last time before the new hampshire primary i think it is time for you to end the very artful smear that you and your campaign have been carrying out. the candidates clashing over charges of not standing up to wall street. i helped lead the effort again deregulation.

abc. the republican battle for new hampshire is heating up. the latest poll has donald trump ahead of his two closest competitors.. marco rubio and ted cruz. jeb bush got some help from his mom-- former first lady barbara bush making an appearance in new hampshire. meantime trump took a jab at his rivals, saying only an outsider can fix america's problems. "no politician's gonna solve it. these people- i like to use really foul language, i won't do it, i was going to say they are full of s but i won't say that. it's true." as for cruz... he's now trailing rubio in a new, new hampshire poll. the florida senator is now in second place

former students at the marinello school of beauty are searching for answers after the

locations across the country, including here in reno. the u-s department of education says it will no longer provide student loans to marinello beacause the school was providing federal aid to students without valid high school diplomas. other complaints include marinellos under-awarded title- four-aid, and charged students for excessive overtime. the closure leaves more than 100-students scrambling for a place to finish their training. beauty school paul mitchell says it has talked to 25 marinello students and are willing to take even more. doug christensen/paul mitchell the school reno owner: "so i could feel their pain. i know they are going through a lot of questions, some hardship. i hope they stick with it because the cosmetology industry is the best industry in my opinion. i've done it for 15 years and i love it." nevada's cosmetology board will receive student hours from marinello and distrubute them to students. that will help with placement at local beauty schools taking

a bizarre story out of west palm beach. police say an 8 year old boy tried to rob a grocery store with a gun he stole from his mother's purse. as ted white shows us, the incident was all caught on camera. he say he wanted to go to the park. i told him go ahead. he gave me a hug. eboni alls would later learn that her son was up to no good. wednesday night her 8- year old boy rode his bicycle to the king foods grocery store on 36th street in west palm beach. he enters the store wearing a bike helmet and baggy clothes. but what you don't see is the loaded handgun he's concealing. he walks inside and around the front of the store for about a minute.he then heads towards the checkout counter and approaches the cashier. i see the boy take the gun. he says give me the money. at the moment i didn't know if it was a real gun or fake but i took it seriously. several employees saw the commotion and reacted quickly. as soon as i moved i reached over to him, twisted his wrist, took the gun away an employee attempts to take the child to the office.

called police.the boys mother was at home when she realized something was wrong. when i grabbed my purse, i'm like it was so light. i'm like i knew i was missing something. i said where's my gun? the first thing i thought was i hope jaden don't have my gun. but he did. police took the child into custody. investigators say he's getting a mental evaluation after he made comments about hurting himself. is there anything you would have done differently? yes. what's that? had the gun locked up in a safe somewhere. he is known as the bad boy of the pharmaceutical industry after hiking the price of a life saving drug. why lawmakers on capital hill are so frustrated and furious with martin shkreli after yesterday's hearing. the zika vrus now causing a stateef emergency in florida and having a huge impact
