silver state. pundits say clinton is the more pragmatic candidate... but sanders' bold stances give hope to the middle class here in nevada. he's known to be a crusader of the middle class... hoping to shift the value of wall street in his presidential campaign. nats: we will take on the billionaire class and bring on change for the working families in this couny. one way bernie sanders plans on creating jobs for those working families is with renewable energy... a direction nevada... he says is going backwards. bernie: the idea that the puc in nevada would make it harder for people to move to solar, the idea that they would make a decision that resulted in laying off hundreds and hundreds of workers in solar workers, is to me basically insane. and resurrecting yucca mountain is not even an option in his presidency. bernie: we've got to phase out nuclear power in america. everything i've read says yucca mountain is not a effective or safe depository for nuclear waste and i don't think we should relook that.

percent of nevada's land is public... sanders says there needs to be better cooperation from the federal and state governments along with local communities to make sure that land can be best utilized by all. bernie: federal lands all over this country belong to all of the people in the united states. including the illegal immigrants according to sanders. nevada has one of the largest proportions of undocumented immigrants in the country and he promises to not break up families but to unite them. bernie: i'm not into deportations, i'm into comprehensive immigration reform and a path toward citizenship for 11 million undocumented people in this country. the nevada democratic caucus is this saturday. sanders says he will make several stops through nevada starting in vegas on thursday and then heading up p orth to elko on friday... for a public rally at elko high school starting at 10 a- m. bernie sanders is running neck-and-neck with hillary clinton here in nevada. a new c-n-n/o-r-c poll

split almost evenly between the two presidential candidates. 48-percent say they support clinton...with 47-percent backing sanders. the racial divide among likely caucus-goers in nevada, is not nearly as big as in south carolina. both white and minority voters, are about evenly divided between the two candidates. ### "for the 1st time in many months, there's a new national frontrunner on the republican side." a new n-b-c/wall street jounral poll shows senator ted cruz pulling ahead of donald trump. the national poll shows 28-percnt of respondents support cruz; two points ahead of trump. a significant shift from last month when trump held a 13-point lead. rubio comes in third in this new poll at 17 percent.###

marco rubio today. south carolina governor nikki haley announced her official endorsement for the g-o-p candidate, just three days before the state's republican primary. haley got national attention last month when she delivered the rebuttal to president obama's state of the union address. governor haley will be on the campaign trail with rubio through saturday's primary. ### an investigation is underway with the national right to work committee. montana officials say the group worked illegally with republican candidates in 2010 in a voter mailing program. officials are pursuing litigation against nine candidates who participated. right-to-work's "custom-letter program" was also made availble to candidates in four other states including nevada. ### the oregon standoff, left the malheur wildlife refugee in rough shape. since the occupiers have left, federal officials say they have found firearms, explosives, and rotten food throughout the refuge. there are also fears of booby traps. occupiers also dug trenches-- around sacred native american

six more than they won all of last year and they've got some good wins too, including over wyoming and fresno state,... they're a young team that has three freshman in the staring lineup... and their best player is junior frank rogers, who is averaging 12.5 points and nearly 7 rebounds per game... musselman: "they're much improved. they're well- coached. they have four freshman that are playing really well. rogers is a guy who creates matchup problems because he can shoot the three as well as post up. and he puts it on the floor pretty well. they've got good 3-point shooting at the four spot and the three spot, so 3,4 and 5 thdey can hit the 3-ball. and they can score in transition a little bit as well." tip off tonight is at 7pm... the wolf pack is a four point favorite at the sports books carson high school's peter garrett has been named the gatorade state soccer player of the year the junior led the senators to a 17-3-1 overall record and both the northern and the state title last

the defender scored five goals and had two assists... but was part of a defense that pitched eight shutouts... he was also named first team all-state... and he was also pretty good in the classroom, with a 3.54 gpa the wolf pack baseball team begins their season this friday it's a double-header against northwestern, which means kaleb foster will make his first start at catcher... he's a freshman from douglas high school... foster was the northern defensive player of the year two years in a row... he was also named all- league.... he says it's always been a dream to stay home and play for the wolf pack, the same team his dad played for in the 1990s foster: "it's a great unit up here. i love the coaches, i love the staff. it worked out well for me. close to home, i love the area. i mean i love the ballpark, i love the team. so i'm really excited to play here. i have great competition, i've got another catcher ahead of me; justin hazard. he's going to be a great teacher for me and i'm really excited to learn the game

" northwestern won just 18 games last season... 23 less than the wolf pack. the wolf pack football team has dropped oregon state from next year's schedule they were supposed to play on the road against the beavers as part of a home-and-home series.... the pack will now look to fill that game with one against another power-five school.... nevada will still host oregon state in 2018 they have also switched dates on two of the other non-conference games.... they host idaho in the season opener, then toledo the following week... they'll fill that september 16th road game... then wrap up the non- confernece schedule at washington state.
