tonight on kolo-eight- news-now, chris buckley is live on the scene. breaking down the details as police learn them. and new tonight-- a lyon county man accused of killing a 2-year-old boy, is finally getting his day in court-- after he spent 5-years in jail. ?but why did it take so long? thanks for joining us tonight. i'm noah bond. after a nice warm break from the rain and snow--- it's back. it started falling on our studio in reno in the last hour. to learn more about the scope of this storm lets turn to chief meteorologist jeff thompson in the weather center. jeff-- we can use all of this we can get. high wind warning in effect for the sierra front until 10 pm. sustained wind to 55 mph is expected with gusts to 65+. blowing dust and debris, tree and fence damage, and power outages are all possible. winter storm warning in effect for the sierra crest and west slope until 4 pm thursday, and for the lake tahoe basin until noon thursday. more than a foot of snow is expected above 7000', with 4-8" possible down to lake tahoe level. expect winter driving conditions and road controls. winter weather advisory in effect for lassen, plumas, and

revive him.. but he died on scene. the trailer park has been closed since the shooting... for several hours only residents were let in... with a police escort. members of the gang unit have been on scene... but it's too early to tell if this is gang related. "anytime there's a major incident the gang guys are on, they come and help us out with a scene regardless of whether it's gang related or not but yeah that's something we will look into, at this point it's too early to determine" police are not naming any possible suspects at this time. the roads around the park remained open... live at the ponderosa trailer park chris buckley kolo 8 news now. a nevada man has waited nearly 5-years in jail for his day in court. and, this week it's finally happening. cody wallace is accused of killed a 2-

fourth. it was november 23rd 2010-- when the boy was county for half-an- hour. the boy died of blunt force trauma, but according to court consistently child. several mistakes made in the courtroom--- including the late disclosure of material to the jury-- led to several delays. and this week, a new trial is taking place. listen close to a conversation with wallace about the child's injuries. "he said basically, he wasn't breathing. i said, 'what happened?' he said, 'either the baby was i don't recall' i remember dropping the phone." the courtroom video is hard to hear. to clarify-- she said she was told the child was not breathing and cody wallace said he didn't know why. then she dropped the phone.

the carson city sheriff's office released new renderings-- of a body found in a shallow grave, back in march. the body of a woman was found on lone mountain and roop street. detectives still don't know who she is. take a look at these photos. they believe she had reddish or blond hair, and was between 4-feet 6-inches tall and 5-3. she may have been buried-- anywhere between one month, to a year. her d-n-a was entered into a national database. contact the carson city sheriff's office if you know who she was or how she died. ### south lake tahoe police arrested two men in connection with a murder.and more arrests could be coming. police arrested 18- year-old tristan batten, and 20-year-old harvest davidson. both are charged with one count of murder. detectives are investigating the murder of 40-year-old dennis wright junior, at the beverly lodge on january 30th. police say the two men are not the suspects shown in police

police say more arrests are likely, and the suspects are considered armed and dangerous. ### nevada rancher cliven bundy was indicted by a federal grand jury today. bundy and four others were indicted on 16 charges, related to an armed standoff near his ranch in 20-14, over unpaid grazing fees. the charges include conspiracy to commit an offense against the u-s, conspiracy to impede or injure a federal officer, and several other charges. bundy was arrested last week in portland oregon-- where his sons were accused of organizing an occupation of a wildlife refuge. bundy will remain in jail, because prosecutors called him "lawless and violent." ### three republican candidates are tackling questions from voters. the latest responses from ben carson, marco rubio and ted cruz--- to win votes. we're getting closer to the nevada caucus. and one group of voters--- could be the

hall in south carolina -- ben carson evoked hillary clinton, and sided with president obama. marco rubio agreed with donald trump and called ted cruz a liar. and ted cruz -- broke- out in song. mary moloney explains. struggling to keep his campaign afloat -- ben carson resurrected a line from hillary clinton's 2008 presidential campaign. "it's 3 am, who do you want answering the phone?" presidential candidate : "i can guarantee you i've had anybody else all the rest of them put together, had to make life or death decisions." carson broke party were in president obama's shoes -- he would nominate a supreme court justice in

something the president vows to do and republicans promise to block. presidential candidate :"i probably would take the opportunity to nominate someone." marco rubio slammed president obama's plan to visit cuba presidential candidate : "they're a repressive regime." he boasted about his campaign's diverse endorsements. presidential candidate : "i got the endorsement of a governor of indian descent, who endorsed a presidential candidate of cuban descent, and tomorrow we'll be campaigning alongside an african-american republican senator," but rubio called out fellow cuban-american -- ted cruz. presidential candidate : "i've said he's been lying because if you say something that isn't true and you say it over and over again and you know that it's not true, there's no other word for it." cruz focused on someone else -- donald trump. saying trump's attempts to sue him aren't serious. presidential candidate : "i confess, i laughed out loud." he softened his stance by breaking out into song. presidential candidate : "i just called to say i love you." donald trump participating in his own town hall on msnbc lashed out against the latest nbc news/ wall street journal poll that gives cruz the edge. presidential candidate :"i have never done well in the wall street journal poll. i think someone at the wall street journal doesn't like me." i'm mary moloney reporting. nevada's senior senator harry reid was in reno today-- to bring awareness to the

caucuses on saturday. reid talked to volunteers at democratic headquarters on terminal way, and answered questions from the media. the senator says the caucuses--- success, will be dependent on the turnout this saturday. reid is getting credit... with nevada's first in the west status. there are concerns--- it'll go away, when reid leaves office. senator harry reid/senate minority leader: i hope that is not the case, it would be a very unwise decsion, for the country, and the state of nevada." reid says he'll attend the caucuses in las vegas, and will remain undecided. he says he will not ensorse a democratic presidential candidate, until after the nevada caucuses are complete. ### in nevada, every vote counts-- and latino voters are expected to make a big impact during this election. 62-point-6-percent of latinos are projected to be registered voters in nevada this year, that's according to a study conducted by c- n-n and the city university of new york.

make-up nearly 20- percent, of the ballots cast. "nevada is a key state here in the u.s. because it's a swing state. it's not red, and it's not blue. it's purple. if you can get the latino vote here in nevada, you can get the latino vote in the entire united states." both the democrats and the g-o-p are trying to influence this growing and important group of voters. but latino voters in nevada say what will really matters to them on election day is who will offer the best policy on immigration. according to the latest c-n-n, o-r-c poll, sanders and hillary clinton are practically tied in nevada. clinton holds a small edge, leading 48-percent to sanders' 47-percent. on the republican side, donald trump is in the lead with 45 percent. senator marco rubio comes in second, with 19 percent. cruz is in third place, with 17 percent. this poll--- was a random sample, of 1- thousand nevadans. ###
