firearm. tameka is one of five people shot early sunday morning. reports say she was visiting her family's fiance's family in austin. the other four women were seriously wounded but will survive. three were in their 30s. we spoke to tameka's brother. he said his sister was the life of the party. >> you never think something like this would happen. she wants to have fun, spend time with her fiance's family and enjoy being young and vibrant. >> keye reports that police issued a murder warrant for endicott mccray sunday night. his bail is set at $2 million. mccray is set dueled to appear in court next month for a marijuana possession charge. the last time his attorney spoke to his client was more than a week ago. a high profile murder trial is set to get underway today.
he is charged with killing sierra lamar. she went missing in 2015. he was identified as a suspect based on dna etched found in his car. lamar's body was never found. the suspect is behind bars in jail. he could face the death penalty if convicted. firefighters in san jose are dosing hot spots after a fire damaged a flower shop in a sprip mall. the fire started around 3:30 near willow at vine street. firefighters believe that the fire may have started in a back room used as a storage space or living unit. one person was rescued but is okay. the fire is under investigation. a big silicon valley merger making news. anne makovec joins us live from fremont on tesla's latest move. >> reporter: this was announced just after 5:00 a.m.

the bay area. no sunshine in the coast. in the 60s. sunshine and refreshing temperatures, 70s and 0s. ' 87 in morgan hills. santa clara and san jose, low to mid-80s. eastbound the same as the santa clara valley. not as hazy as last week. not a spare the air day. we will see temperatures down out of the triple digits and seasonal highs in the mid-80s. we will have 67 in sausalito and tiburon with the clearing of the skies. simpson breach breezy and overcast. mill valley and san rafael and 82 sonoma. ukiah and lakeport the same. winds variable 10 to 0 20 miles per hour. we have a change in the midweek forecast. the election kicks into high gear beginning today with
the 2016 presidential candidates and their running mates crisscrossing the country. this morning donald trump is facing new criticism for his attacks on the parents of a muslim american soldier that died in iraq. he is gaining help from his running mate mike pence as he tries to diffuse the situation. in a statement, pence said that he and trump believe that khan is an american hero but the comment did little to extinguish the criticism. >> if you look at his wife, she was standing there. she had nothing to say. she probably maybe wasn't allowed to have anything to say. >> hillary clinton responding to this speaking at a church in cleveland. she called out trump directly. >> mr. khan paid the ultimate sacrifice in his family. and what has he heard from donald trump, nothing but
insults. >> clinton holds a slight lead over trump in 11 key battleground states. trump campaigns in two battleground states. clinton heads to nebraska. another incident and another apology from golden state warriors star draymond green. this time it's for posting a photo of his genitalia on snapchat. he initially explained on twitter can't wine right now. later he admitted that he was responsible for the mistake. he said it was intended to be sent as a private message but hit the wrong message. earlier this month he struck a man in the face in michigan. firefighters are keeping watch on a grass fire in the east san jose foothills. the fire burned more than 120 acres off sierra road. investigators say it was initially sparked by a lawn mower. >> a mower striking an object.
i don't know if that is a rock or piece of cement. one spark ignited the grass and the mower. >> the only damage was to a building under construction. crews will stay there a couple more days to make sure that hot spots don't get out of hand. firefighters say that people should mow their lawns in the morning when humidity tends to be higher and strong winds less likely. firefighters in fresno county are dealing with a wildfire. the so-called goose fire has burned 1800 acres and is 5% contained. there is an unknown number of homes damaged. 300 homes have been evacuated. 300 extra firefighters are helping battle the fire in moneterey county this morning. the fire charred about 40,000 acres since it broke out more than a week ago. it's 18% contained and is threatening 2,000 structures and several communities were evacuated because of it. they don't expect it to be
fully contained until the end of august. they are investigating what started the blaze. this fire in montana continues to grow. it started yesterday afternoon and is spreading across hundreds of acres near hamilton. 500 homes have been evacuated. only local fire crews have been able to get to the scene. forest service crews are set to arrive shortly to get a handle on the flames. three california powerball winners are bound to have mixed feelings. >> believes they can feel hundreds of thousands riverrer or many millions shy of clinching the entire jackpot. >> the powerball jackpot clocked in at 478 million. somebody from new jersey won every penny. ticket buyers from sunnyvale, long beach patched five numbers, about 780,000 per winner. we don't know the lucky californians name yet but

a separate brand. we will find out more about a possible january tear's strike -- janitor's strike in san francisco. this is the scene this past thursday when union members and supporters staged a protest and blocked rush hour traffic at first and market street. they want better salaries and benefits. with no deal on the table as of last night, they are set to meet today to discuss the next move. the workers will strike if it comes to that. police are investigating a hit and run crash that left a pedestrian dead in unincorporated santa cruz county. a car hit a 47-year-old woman on lakeview road north of meredith way. police are not releasing the victim's name. anyone with information should call chp. a bay area woman walking down the street in austin when a man approaches and shoots everybody in sight. jackie ward is live in our newsroom on the san carlos

san mateo bridge, there is cars piling up there but not too bad. about 18 minutes westbound. moving slowly but moving. back to you guys. >> all right, thank you. in san francisco, a core republican near identified the man that fell to his death this weekend. vincent holland of merced fell off the nearby cliff saturday afternoon. he dropped 100 feet into rough surf. u.s. park police say holland and a female friend were off trail before the deadly fall. >> life flight company released the names of three people killed when an oakland bound plane crashed. larry mills, deborah croon and michelle tarwater. a patient was killed but that patient's name has not been made public. the ground crew responsible for chasing the hot air balloon that crashed in texas will be interviewed by the national transportation safety board.
16 people were killed in saturday's accident. the deadliest hot air balloon disaster in u.s. history. it's too early to determine what went wrong. it appears it hit power lines before plummeting to the ground. cell phone video and maintenance history will be critical includes in the investigation. >> we look at three things, human, the machine and environment. >> the area is being treated like a crime scene as investigators work to learn the identities of the victims. investigators recovered 14 electronic devices but some were destroyed. the bay area is a hot spot for balloon trips, especially in sonoma county. one pilot said he took 50,000 people over his career without an incident but there is an element of unpredictability. >> is ballooning safe? >> i have flown 6,000 or more

door handing out kits and information. with the rio olympics starting friday, brazilian health officials are saying don't be concerned about the zika virus. the virus won't be a problem at all for anyone attending the games. zika has been linked to multiple birth defects including babies born with unusually small heads and undersized brains. the summer olympics are four days away. there is concern about the water in and around rio. a study commissioned by the associated press shows the waterways are filthy. in some cases it's contaminated about raw human sewage, viruses and bacteria. some are wearing plastic suits and gloves to summit contact with the water. u.s. and korean leaders cut the ribbon on a war memorial in san francisco at 10:00 at the

over. the can dates no longer need to use presumptive nominee. >> a mouthful. melissa caen is back. >> amazing a privilege to see both of the historic events but good to be back in the foggy bay area after sweating it out in cleveland and philadelphia. listen, what was important was what was going on on the floor. i was glad to report that to you all, what was happening there. now, i talked to dozens of delegates and they had some things to tell me that you might be surprised about. people watching different conventions might think they are two different countries. delegates told me economy, local and national security were the main concerns. at both con descriptions there were problems. republicans ted cruz' failure
to endorse the nominee and playing gear rised melania speech and democrats the bernie supporters and the e-mails. for the average delegate, none of this happened. they were dancing and hopeful for their candidates. despite lots of problems, inside the conventions, i can tell you that the mood was positive. >> i got a kick out of all the balloons. that was my favorite part. >> i told my husband, new rule, every birthday, anniversary, i want balloon drop. >> you didn't grab one for a souvenir. >> they don't hold up well. >> there were so many speakers. what stood out to you. >> again, similarities at both conventions. we had the parents of children who died in the line of duty give very moving speeches. for the republicans, patricia
smith whose son was killed in the attack in benghazi. she spoke and was moving. at the democratic convention, khizr khan gave a speech that many are talking about. he waved that copy of the constitution around. then aside from the obvious big name speeches like barack obama, at the republican convention chris christie's indictment of clinton and laid out the case against her and asking the audience guilty or not guilty and the entire arena shouted guilty and lock her up. that was an effective speech with the crowd. on the democratic side i would say that michael bloomberg, might be surprising, he came out and said i'm a new yorker and businessman and i can tell you trump is a con artist. bloom burke is not necessarily known for being an effective speaker, kind of surprising but he had a lot of zingers in his speech and the crowd ate it up. those would be two that i would
recommend. >> bloomberg, many considered he would run for president. which party do you think had the better convention? >> well, you know, it's hard to say. there are ways to measure the conventions. one way is to say who had the most viewers. according to nielson ratings, trump's big acceptance speech had more viewers than clinton's acceptance speech. about a million viewers more. over four days of the convention, democrats had about 17 million more total viewers. the so, depending on how you want to look at it, either convention won. the second way is to look at the post convention polls. we know donald trump got a small boost in the polls after the republican convention. i have to say, though, i think hillary will get a larger boost than trump did. she went after independents and moderate republicans and she had sanders there to help win over the progressives. i think she is poised for a much larger post convention,
