later today. these are sustained at 12. and about 10 for antioche this morning. many locations will be in the upper 50s for this christmas day across the bay area. winter storm warnings still in effect through 7:00 a.m. we'll see 2' of snow. we're going to time it out for you when the skies will clear where you are and what you can expect for the rest of the week coming up on future cast. public transit agencies are offering limited service today for the holiday. bart will have what is normally the sunday schedule. plus cal train and ac transit. as for ferries will not be running. and looking ahead bart is going to have expanded service on new year's eve.
partly geared toward moving large crowds efficiently to the midnight firework show. on this christmas morning organizations across the bay area are preparing meals for those in need. devon feelly is live this morning getting ready to deliver thousands of meals to seniors. >> it is the true spirit of christmas. going to be arriving here at the kitchen at the salvation army. you can see a few people here early but it is going to be a beehive in just a little bit of time. more than 500 volunteers will sacrifice sleep in order to prepare more than 4,000 meals this morning. they will then hand deliver those meals to people home bound hobbled by age or illness.
from people who might not otherwise might not have a hot meal. make no mistake this is an herculeyen effort. but the organizers and the volunteers arriving here shortly say in the end it is definitely worth the payoff being able to give that gift of christmas to people who otherwise might not have it. kpix 5. >> thanks. also in san francisco glide memorial church will hold its annual christmas celebration and meal. that is happening at their location on 330 ellis street. and special christmas dinner with all the fixins will be served at 10:00 a.m. . pope francis has asked for prayers. meanwhile millions are celebrating this christmas with traditional song and holiday
cheer. >> from bethlehem to sidney, australia and all corners of the world. millions of christians are welcoming christmas. at the vatican pope francis celebrated at the evening mass. the pope's message. shun materialism. instead focus on the message of holiday simplicity of love. >> tourism officials say bethlehem is enjoying its busiest christmas season on record. the tiny christian community attended mass. in britain queen elizabeth extolled good will and a christmas message to the nation. >> even with the most deeply held differences treating the other person with respect and as a fellow human being is always a good first step. >> while in indonesia church
goers prayed for victims. in washington, president trump and the first lady attended mass at the washington national cathedral. >> the first couple would of likely gone to services. but the president decide today stay in the kapt -- decided to stay in the capital. tom hanson cbs news. during the shut down national park visitor centers, parking lots and restrooms are closed and that includes mirror woods and marin county. public access does continue for portions of national parks including i don't semitea and the golden gate national recreational area. and in san francisco the privately funded trust is taking over some of the work to keep the presidio open.
of course the stock market is closed for the holiday today and there's not much to celebrate there. the dow dropped more than 650 points. the s&p down 500 making it the worst market since the 1930s. they say it's most likely due to the turmoil in the white house. just last week the fed announced it would hike interest rates for the fourth time this year. >> growth continuing at healthy levels. >> wall street's nose dive officially took us into the a bear market where a 50% decline or more. the stock market plunge is making some bay area businesses step back a little delaying new projects and hiring people while waiting for the market to bounce back. for 27 years a family. >> this year they considered
turning off the lights. kpix 5's tells us how the family came together to keep the long held tradition alive. it's a christmas lights display unlike any other in california. >> for 27 years edmundo rivera spent half the year getting ready for his favorite time of the year. a sight to be hold but wait until you walk inside. the train room is santa rumbero. he has roughly 40,000 visitors walking through his house every year an idea rumbero's wife wasn't keen on at first. >>elht was crazy. >> the rumberos continue

5:12 this morning. in our health watch a new drug to treat pete i can't think trick leukemia could be on the pediatric could be on the horizon. the next step will be to test the super drug on humans. a new study finding that tall people are less likely to die in a hospital. researchers are reviewing data for the critically ill patients admitted to hospitals. they say there's no one thing to explain why short people are more at risk. they point to equipment like breathing tubes designed with the average sized male in mind. and fast food restaurants according to the british medical journal. a meal at a fast food restaurant has 268 fewer calories on average even comparing individual food items at both

shower on sunday. kenny. 5:16 right now the san jose police department is investigating an early morning shooting involving several of its officers that happened around 2:30 this morning in the willow glenn area. about a half dozen patrol cars on the scene. multiple officers discharged their weapons. and we'll keep you updated on this story as we get more information. 5:17. and ongoing governor jerry brown has turned down a request from san francisco's mayor. asking him to commute the sentence of her brother napolean. he's been in jail for 18 years while serving a 44-year sentence. breed said his punishment was excessive and that he's since turned his life around. governor brown did continue his christmas tradition by giving
second chances to other convicted felons. in one of his last acts as governor he issued 143 pardons and 131 commutations over the last eight years. that is the most of any governor in modern state history. kpix 5's don ford shows us a frequent trouble spot in mill valley. >> every year, several times a year the king tides flood the 101 valley. with all the cones and all the traffic control people there just seems to be always someone who doesn't get with the program. >> flooded and closed a foot deeper more in some places.

it was an emotional night at the coliseum last night. fans may have watched their final raiders game in oakland. if that was the case the silver and black delivered a fitting farewell. running back marshawn lynch the oakland native lit the al davis torch before the game. it's courts free and picked up s gone. since 2011. 99 yards for harris gives the raiders a 7-0 lead.

58 in mountain view. 59 for a high in san jose, santa clara at 60 as well as for campbell. walnut creek. berkley, alameda and oakland you'll see a high of 59. 58 in san francisco. and looking at 58 in navado and daytime highs around 57 for yucaia. here's that 7-day forecast in which you can expect. clearing out. drier, sunnier weather with breezy conditions for today. partly sunny for tomorrow and check out all of that sunshine for thursday, friday, and for saturday. so not a lot of change in our 7-day forecast. there is a chance to see a few showers on sunday. the weather model's not in great agreement on that. one is dry. another one does bring showers in the forecast as we get closer to the weekend with dry conditions on monday. developing this morning the san jose police department is
investigating a shooting involving several of its own officers. it happened at around 2:30 this morning on fruitdale and lee avenues. it's in the willow glenn area and about a half a dozen patrol officers arrived on scene but it's still unclear what led up to that shooting. it's believed that several officers discharged their weapons during this confrontation. we're going to keep you updated on this story. >> gunshots rang out during last minute christmas eve shopping in two separate malls. the first shooting happened in a florida mall parking lot. to two suspects accused of murder. the deputies, the two suspects then took off running. the shootout started when one suspect shot a police k-9 and then at deputies. >> the deputies returned fire and was able to render him down on the ground. he is at the hospital. he's not deceased yet.
he's pretty well wounded. >> both suspects were taken into custody and a third person is being questioned. the k-9 dog died from his gunshot wounds from the surgery. the second shooting happened in louisiana where one person was shot there in louisiana. at last check that person was in stable condition. that mall employee described what she sglau and we heard the loud noise like shots fired we didn't know exactly what happened until we saw everyone screaming and running through the food court. >> the mall was closed after the shooting but it will re-open tomorrow actor kevin spacey. is facing a sexual abuse charge. that incident happened at a bar in nantucket in 2016. the man spacey allegedly
assaulted was her then 18-year-old son. >> kevin spacey bought him drink after drink after drink and when my son was drunk, spacey made his move. spacey stuck his hand inside my son's pants and grabbed his genitals. >> the charges were announced yesterday right about the time spacey released this bizarre video on social media. >> i know what you want, you want me back. >> the seemingly in character as frank underwood from his former series "house of cards". spacey was released from that show because of multiple charges of abuse. san francisco'so her brothe. london breed wrote to the governor back in november. he's been in jail for 18 years while serving a 44-year sentence
for involuntary manslaughter and armed robbery. his girlfriend died during the crime spree. breed said his punishment was excessive and he has since turned his life around but yesterday the governor denied the request for clemency. he did continue his christmas tradition by giving a second chance to some other convicted felons. and 131 commutations yesterday. to date 1300 pardons and 283 commutations during the last 8 years and according to the san francisco chronicle that's the most in a government agency. and toiletries and make up are a lot of items that wee fo granted. let'sd go t break a live look richm rafari istyutreneed t g ts
we're looking at 40 in santa rosa. so high def doppler just con so the last of those showers now moving out of here. i'll let you know what we'll see clearing for all of us with that christmas day forecast in just a few minutes. 5:53 right now. some wet weather caught holiday drivers by surprise on bay area roadways. this is the most severe flooding we've seen on christmas eve. it shut down northbound 101 at the 80 split. traffic was backed up for a couple of miles even causing a fender bender in the backup. caltrans workers say at one point there was about 8" of water at this spot. they pumped that water off the freeway and more flooding caused problems on the same freeway just a quarter of a mile ahead. the problem wasn't too much rain caltrans believes that trash and
clogs in the drainage system in both locates was the issue. well a british charity group is spreading some holiday cheer in a unique way. >> do nations are flooding in. >> sandra coaly came to london two years ago after fleeing violence in the congo. >> i couldn't take care of myself. >> she arrived with just the clothes on her back and couldn't afford soap or shampoo. but a few miles away these women were about to intervene. >> we could match them up. and there are millions of people who desperately need them. >> they created beauty banks a group run by volunteers with donations providing free hygiene and beauty products. >> we need to stay clean for our
