i'm kenny choi. >> and i'm michelle griego. another warm and sunny day. >> that's right. if it was a little too hot yesterday we will cool things down beginning today through the rest of the week into the weekend. take a look at the treasure island camera under clear skies. temperatures in the low to mid 50s and upper 50s in some spots. is what to expect. mostly sunny and normally highs in the 60s and low 70s. those are the average highs. we will be warmer compared to what we should normally see. upper 60s in san francisco low 70s in oakland and mid 80s in san josi. what we are forecasting today is anywhere from 5 to 14 degrees above average.
i will let you know how cool it will get heading through the rest of the week. starting off on the roadways one accident at the san mateo bridge passed the toll plaza. you can't see this but it doesn't look like it is affecting the traffic because there is not quite the volume we have normally but keep that in mind. we also have an accident on 24 eastbound on gateway boulevard. it is a big rig versus a big rig. hopefully it won't affect anything in the westbound direction. we will keep an eye on this. speeds are slow due to construction past 6 am this morning. give yourself extra time. it has been stacked up all week. the same thing in the city. fremont construction.

act of terrorism. these two men were both on their bikes when the car came barreling through. it sped up and plowed into them and six others. victims lay on the ground and the driver emerged from his damaged car and started acting very odd. >> he was facing the floor and he said i love you. when the police officers arrived he said you guys are amazing. thank you. >> the question is why he drove his car into the crowd. the suspect's brother believes he has the answer. >> it is ptsd from when he was in the army. that's the only reason he would do this. >> he's very religious. he thinks satan is trying to attack him. >> they are still investigating
the motive. his mental health may be called into question. six out of eight victims are still in the hospital. the youngest is in critical condition. the fbi is involved in the investigation and we spoke to the server security, security analyst. he said the key is the suspect himself. >> it is a win to have someone in custody who didn't get killed in the accident or shooting after the accident. they will be looking at mental health issues. was this present stable? under the influence? these factors will come into play. >> we will have more details on kpix.com. this morning lafayette police are increasing patrols after suspicious activity near an elementary school.
a student was walking home tuesday afternoon when a vehicle pulled up and the driver asked if she needed a ride. the student said no and ran to an adult nearby. the vehicle was a black suv with front tinted windows, possibly a dodge. it was an adult male with short brown spiky hair. anyone with additional information is asked to call police. bart is tasting, testing new safety measures. they are testing call boxes into cameras. this is a test. >> police, what are you reporting? >> that is a dispatcher answering a test call set up for kpix5. as soon as a rider pushes the button it activates the camera. this is part of their security

of course, we will be cooler along the coast today as well due to light onshore flow. the forecast what to expect, warning clouds and fog along the coast and sunny to partly sunny skies. along the coast in the mid 60s. upper 60s to low 70s mostly sunny and mild and warm with mostly sunny skies inland with temperatures in the 80s. the bridge of high pressure is in place and it will continue to slide south. with it we will see stronger onshore flows. today mostly sunny skies heading through friday mostly sunny to partly sunny. we will watch this low pressure system for the weekend that will cool us down for the weekend into early next week. the pollen count is medium high today. also friday through sunday. daytime highs, looking at 68 in san francisco, 73 in oakland.

lanes shut down due to an injury accident. it doesn't seem to be affecting your drive time but you should expect delays. folks are getting around the accident there on the westbound span. we have a new crash southbound 101 at 280 it is slowing things down on the map. another slow and go is the altamont pass making your way to the 500 8680 interchange. another accident in the clearing stages at gateway. a big rig. it has moved over to the right shoulder and they are clearing it out. it is in the opposite of the commune direction. so far it is not affecting anything on 24 westbound, the commute direction. look at the bottom left-hand corner you can see a chp vehicle and some cones as they
