another storm is on the way. >> let's say good morning on this monday morning. we dealt with rain all weekend. >> it was a wet weekend for sure. isolated thunderstorms yesterday and today we catch a break before the next storm system roles in bringing the return of the rain. it has been storm after storm. this is a live luck from the san jose. 45 in santa rosa and temperatures in the low 50s from concorde and oakland and san francisco this morning. going through the afternoon, partly sunny skies and a nice welcome to break for sure. mid-fifties along the coast for the bay in the upper 50s to low 60s and inland, made to upper 60s later today. we will time it out when the rain returns and will show you on futurecast. is not too many problems but they are out there.

it is a monday, after all. let's take a look at the map. we have some trouble spots zooming in on the first of them, that's coming into san francisco. this is northbound 280 passing daly city and onto northbound 280 through bill bright. two accidents don't seem to be backing anything up at this hour. further south, we have a fog advisory in effect where 92 meets 280. it is slowing things down just a little bit on 92 westbound. give yourself some extra time thanks to the conditions over there. onto the altamont pass where we see slowdowns to 26 miles per hour. up to the regular running speed, and accident at 580 at livermore. it doesn't seem to be backing anything up but once you get to the dublin interchange, you are good to go. still early, but all travel times are in the green. we are at the live news break, a breaking news out of burbank where an armed suspect

was arrested after an 8 1/2 hour standoff. the man attacked someone with a sickle which is a sharp edged tool and around 5:00 last night and the person will be okay, but this was at parker and dana and when police went to arrest the suspect, he barricaded himself in his house and they eventually broke into the house at 2:30 this morning and pulled him out of the crawlspace. the suspect is in jail. hundreds of teachers in union city and hayward are set to go on strike. contract talks broke apart and the two sides appear to be far apart. teachers from a dozen schools want a 10% pay raise over the next two and half years. it is reportedly offering 1% next year and slightly more in state funding increase. they said last night instead of paying teachers a professional salary, the school board and superintendent shift priorities to overpaying administrators and

socking money into reserves. this district has unfortunately made clear that students are not the top priority. classes will go on today with substitutes and administrative staff. a deadly weekend crash is shedding light on a dangerous stretch of land in concorde. a woman died when her career, her car careened and hit a pole. the stretch of road claimed the lives of six people over the past 4 years. her grandfather said she was a manager at a walnut creek retail store and she was the sparkle of his eye. julie vasquez has a daughter that died just 4 years ago. >> there was so much i know she wanted to do in this life and she was cheated. we were cheated. >> since 2015, several people

were killed including a 5-year- old who was killed when the car lost control and went down an embankment. yesterday, two witnesses at the hillsdale shopping center reported seeing a firearm in a man's waistband. he was arrested later outside the laurelwood shopping center, that is about one mile away. police plan to release more details about the suspect in just a few hours. in texas, an 8-year-old girl is safe with her family after she was kidnapped in broad daylight over the weekend. >> reporter: >> thank you, jeff king. >> reporter: pastor jeff king is one of two people who helped find 8-year-old salem early saturday morning. >> i can't thank you enough that she is alive and she is here with us still and she has a wonderful life to live ahead of her, father.

>> reporter: they were told to search parks and apartments and hotels in the area around fort worth. >> we were checking parks and this was the second hotel we checked. >> they spotted the suspect car in a parking lot and called the police at 2:00 the morning. they busted down the hotel room door and took 51-year-old michael webb into custody. >> there is a smile on my face, i'm here to report that salem has been found safe. the kidnapped episode was caught on the door camp. he grabbed the girl as her mother tried to fight him off. >> so much so that she was able to grab a piece of jewelry off of the mail and was basically thrown from a vehicle that drove off with her daughter inside.; parties quickly issued an amber alert. king said having two children of his own was his biggest motivation to go out and

search. >> i would've wanted as many eyes looking out for my boys. >> he faces charges of aggravated kidnapping. salem is back home with her family. >> police expect to file more charges against webb. he was charged last year with aggravated sexual assault, but those were dropped when a witness refused to cooperate. dozens of abortion rights activists are preparing a national protest tomorrow after recently passed state bills that banned most abortions. john morris has the latest. >> demonstrations throughout alabama this weekend. this is days after the state enacted the strictest antiabortion law in the country. the alabama law prohibits all abortions except when the woman life is at risk or the presence of a lethal fetal anomaly but not exceptions for ince rape. dozens of states have

considered bills to stop abortion. mike parson is expected to sign and antiabortion bill into law. >> i believe in the pro-life side of the bill and i will sign it into law. spend guy in pro loss, i am pro- life, there ought to be exceptions for rape and incest. >> president trump said his stance is similar to the one taken by former president ronald reagan. >> 53% of republicans do not want roe v wade to be overturned. but this is a matter of a small minority that is deeply passionate about this and has very strong belief that abortion should be illegal. >> the aclu which supports abortion rights says it will suit to make sure none of those laws ever go into effect. louisiana is expected to see the final bill on the so- called heartbeat bill.

more than 1000 people expected to rally in sacrament as part of the 23rd annual immigrant day of action as ice looks into opening new detention centers in california. they recently put out a request for information amidst potential detention facilities to hold criminal aliensan other immigration violators. >> the system is full, we have been clear about that. so what we want to do is plan to be able to manage the capacity safely. to bring them where we can process them efficiently. >> they want to set up places to house roughly 5000 to 6000 people. it could be in the bay area as well as los angeles and san diego. california will do whatever it can to push back. >> there are limits to our power given the federal government has its own power, but we will do everything within our power to stop them from doing that. more a document that immigrants are airlifted from

texas this weekend and similar flights will happen three times per week. proposed rent protections in el cerrito were on the verge of becoming law. the city council has already given initial approval to two ordinances and one would require just cause before the landlords can evict someone. the other creates a registry where property owners must provide data and other details. a final vote on those measures is set for tomorrow night at the city hall. the american academy of pediatrics wants to change the game when it comes to organized sports for children. >> we explain why it shouldn't be all about winning. >> the 8-year-old takes the baseball field under the watchful eye of mom who is also coach. >> multiple sports are good for kids. >> i've played basketball and i played football and i love soccer and baseball. updates

recommendations urging an emphasis on enjoyment of sports for children instead of winning. the aap says most kids are ready to play organized sports around age 6. >> at younger ages, we should encourage free play, let them run and jump and climb and kick things so they can learn the skills they need to to participate in sports later. >> organized sports provides more than just physical activity, they also help children build essential life skills. >> teamwork and self reflection, organization helps kids develop social skills and improves self-esteem and it can decrease feelings of stress and depression. >> he co-authored the new report that suggests finding ways to include all kids in organized sports no matter their skill level. middle and high school should offer multiple levels to keep athletes engaged don't want to

out of the weird weather, in san jose, they were scraping hail off of cars. the weekend right before memorial day. in contra costa county, this car ended up on an embankment. >> a driver lost control near orinda and the driver was okay. cal state east bay gratz had the shovel plans. it was pushed back seven hours because of rain. the university invited students from the concorde campus to join the commandments, the commencement after theirs was canceled about 800 graduates and thousands of family and friends attended, many of them wearing ponchos. spent my dad flew in from the midwest. we had a celebration planned for this evening. we were doing a barbecue after the ceremony and we had to scramble and read organize it. >> we understand that family and friends of graduates plan to be here in advance and they come from all over the country to be here and they make plans

you got plenty of company, but not too many brake lights. eastbound direction, everything looked good. the bay bridge, meteor lights not on yet, but it is backing up at the toll plaza especially in cash lanes in the opposite direction. mobile 5 is on the road ready to give you a first-hand look and he looks like he doesn't have a lot of company in the eastbound direction of the bay bridge. take a look at the maps, not too many troubled spots. let's start here, there is a stall on 280 passing to daly city, there was an accident 280 to 380, that was blocking lanes, further south, there's a fog advisory in effect as you come across the san mateo bridge the 280, give yourself some extra time and you may have some visibility and really the only slow-growing part with got this morning is down to 18 triangle and once you get out of there, you look good despite the fact that there is an accident at 580 at livermore, it doesn't seem to be backing anything up. once you get to the dublin
