to his ship. we have a video of the rescue crews. here they are, scaling the cruise ship, divers calling in from underwater trying to find the 24 missing people from this cruise ship disaster. 11th people are now confirmed dead in his or her iran. we have to pictures showing bull holds that the divers made into the side of the ship. fish are trying to find any more bodies and hopefully to find more survivors inside. soft they're trying to avoid a potential environmental disaster with a half- million gallons of fuel barrels. look at this video,

it is infrared video showing the dramatic rushed to get off the ship. many people are pointing their finger at the ship's captain and crew for what they're calling a chaotic evacuation. >>justine: the capital on the lifeboat and said he did not want to return to the ship even as passengers were being evacuated. while he walked away, hailed a taxi cab and fled the scene.

>>george: we are tracking a hot spot, 680 southbound leading walnut creek and headed alamo, it is more than just a typical slowing, there is an accident. take a look at the traffic maps at stone valley road. they did manage to clear the lanes and a move the vehicles to the shoulder. it has managed to slow the ride on 680 in the southbound direction. speeds have dropped down into the teens. an easy ride for the rest of the trip as you head south on interstate 680 towards dublin. >>james: a quick check on whether for game day on sunday, everyone is watching and waiting to see what

block lanes for a while. even though it has been cleared, it has still managed to back up this right. all in all, a much better commute for the dublin interchange want to get past the scene of that crash. here is a quick bridge check. the westbound ride is slowing from about west grand ave. the bay bridge is back. we are seeing a return to heavy traffic for the westbound right. the westbound commute is still a 40 minute drive time.

>>mark: a shocking are deal emerging from the captain of the cruise ship, a coastguard ordered him to return to the ship. another incredible piece of video showing the frantic rush. hundreds of passengers are standing on the side of the ship and going down a single file to get on to the rescue boats. thank for testing on new information of the audio recordings from the captain and coast guard. the coast guard officers repeatedly ordered to get back onto the ship. here is a picture of the cruise ship captain. the

theft announcer: live, this is the kron4 news at 8:00 p.m.. >>mark: in a developing story, the death toll is rising as the search for survivors continues of of the coast of italy. on the right hand side, you see video of the search crews looking for survivors carried on the left, a brief explosion, divers are blowing holes in the side of the ship trying to find new ways into the ship to search for survivors. the death toll is now at 11. 24 people remain missing. all of these are people standing on the side of the ship going down a single file to the life raft waiting down below. many passengers are pointing the finger at the ship's captain and crew for what

they call it chaotic evacuation. there is new audio from the coast guard telling a captain to get back on board to assess the damage. more on that as soon as it comes in. >>darya: it is freezing is below freezing in some spots. it looks nice and sunny out, but very cold.

look at the bay bridge. we are waiting for details about the planned closure of the bridge for presidents' day weekend so that they can do some repair work. jackie sissel is live taking a look at the bridge. >>jackie: this is the area right here that will be under construction on the president's day holiday, as long as weather cooperates. that information was provided to us by caltrans. it will reconfigure everything west of the toll plaza, basically up to the incline. it's the plan is also restrikes erode. if the weather does not cooperate, they will have to reschedule. they picked that

not our only hot spot. on interstate 80 westbound, things have begun to slow down from pinole. the drive time is up to 36 minutes as you head down the east shore freeway from hercules to berkeley. at the bay bridge we have a backup this morning. it is not that between last grand and 880. this and detail bridge is heavy on the approach getting out to the toll plaza. on the golden gate bridge, your drive through marin county is 32 minutes from highway 37 down to the toll plaza. let's get news about a bart delay. >>justine: this story is just getting our attention. bart trains are running behind schedule this morning because of earlier police activity at the coliseum oakland station. this information is coming to us from a bart employee. the

video from last september. prosecutors and public defenders have been arguing about the ground rules for the murder trial which is scheduled to begin in october. >>darya: the livermore teacher charged with having a sexual relationship with a 14 year-old boy is expected to be arraigned today. she was arrested last wednesday and charged with having sex with a former student at granada high school. police say the relationship began after he finished taking a class from her in 2010. >>darya: another bay area teacher is facing similar charges. he is accused of having sex with a 16 year old student. he is arrested and facing a variety of charges including statutory rates. he was an art teacher at james logan high school.

>>mark: we will learn more about the president's day weekend closure of the bay bridge coming up later this morning. caltrans is unveiling a plan for a closer that weekend. italian naval divers have used explosives to blow holes inside of the cruise ship to try and get into the cruise ship to search for any more survivors. five more bodies were found inside the wreckage, they were all wearing a life vests. the death toll stands at 11 with

24 missing. a cold morning around the bay area. freezing temperatures and a freeze warning in effect as we get close to record lows. more on the forecasts in a moment. >>george: we are continuing to attract major delays on interstate 680 south balance. look at the ride out of walnut creek in the southbound direction. there was an earlier occurring accident southbound at stone valley road. traffic is slowed from the 240 to merge down to walnut creek and then continuing south from the creek and through alamo, heading to danville. speeds are much slower than usual. the northbound ride is also backed up coming out of the san ramon valley towards in danville. the back of is improving a bit. take a look at our live camera and walnut creek. this is how slow the traffic is for the southbound ride. the delays

arrive by thursday. more on that coming up in my next update. >>darya: our developing story, we have new video that shows how the italian naval divers used explosives to create openings in the whole of that wrecked ship off of the tuscany coast. five more bodies were found today bringing the total debt to 11 and 24 people are still missing as crews are continuing to search the wreckage of this morning. let's take a look at the pictures that show you the damage done to the bottom of the ship off when it hit the ground by. you can see the underwater images that they have given us of the coast. it sustained major damage. the holes were torn in the ship when it slammed into the rocks friday night just all of italy's western coast. the search for survivors and their ids continues. the cruise line has avoided becoming a potential environmental crisis as well. the crews

are going to be extracting fuel from the ship tomorrow. that operation will be done within 2-4 weeks. we also have new information from the audio recordings from the cruise ship's captain and the coast guard. the captain is heard making excuses as the italian coast guard officials repeatedly ordered him to get back on to his crippled ship. in a telephone conversation, the official yells at the captain who is on a lifeboat and repeatedly says he does not want to return to the ship, even as passengers are still being an evacuated. the officer tells the captain to get back on board and assess the needs of the passengers saying that it is in order and not to make any more excuses. >>mark: in the bay area, a developing story out of cobb acosta, fire crews have contained a huge house fire in martinez. look at the huge flames. there is video coming in from this home on walnut street. will tran was

live on the scene and gives us information about the homeowner and the cause of the fire. >>will: here is the side of the home. completely destroyed, as well as the front. at one point, the fire was so hot that a part of the roof collapsed and firefighters had to stay outside for fear that they would be injured. investigators, it did not take them long to figure out the cause of the fire. i spoke with a homeowner who says the cold weather forced him to use a wood burning stove. was his only source of heat. he said sparks from the wood burning stove or perhaps why the fire started overnight. there were five people inside of the home of the time. we and the smoke detectors went off allowing the family enough time to run out. only one person suffered minor injuries. his older son, he suffered a

>>george: we are continuing to discuss a drive on interstate 680 as a hot spot. it is continuing into the san ramon valley from walnut creek. the accident on stone valley road has been cleared of the damage is done. drive times are running 20 minutes from concord to stone valley road. those are bigger delays in the usual. the ride to dublin will also be extended. bart is suffering from earlier problems at the coliseum station. there was police action that is affecting trains on the fremont mind. that includes fremont to richmond. that means delays to daly city and sfo. >>darya: new this morning, if you want to go to the 49ers game, the team owner will treat you if he chooses

morning. the latest in rescuers searched for survivors of of the tuscany coast. you can see smoke rising from an explosion as the divers were blowing holes in the side of the whole to try to find new ways to get into the ships. this morning, they found five more bodies, all of them were adults wearing life jackets. we have the videos of rescue crews scaling this side of the vessel entering cabin after captioned. they have surged dry areas of the ships and are still searching submerged areas. the ship's captain will remain jailed depending on a decision whether to release him while authorities investigated his role in the disaster. amazing infrared video from a helicopter showing the escape from the ship. this is thousands of passengers
