>> pam: now for a look at our top stories. a deadly shooting at the jewelry mart at the corner of 8th and brannan in the south of market district in san francisco. streets around the area are beginning to reopen after two women were killed. a suspect is now in custody. we have another live report from the scene - coming up. >> day three in the search for 21-month old daphne viola webb. the toddler allegedly taken from her father's car outside a supermarket in east oakland on wednesday. police are conducting a dual investigation daphne's father -- john webb -- who was arrested on a child endangerment charge yesterday -- is set to be released tonight. we are also learning that daphene's mother has a criminal record. >> a third victim in the asiana flight 214 crash at s-f-o. has died. a spokesperson at san francisco general hospital says, the victim. a young girl. died this morning. also, the san francisco fire department confirms, one of the the teenage girls killed in the crash, was hit by a fire truck that heading
to the scene. she was covered by fire fighting foam at the time. runway 2-8-left. where the crash occurred. has now reopened. crews had been working to clear and repair the runway since wednesday. >> the public is waiting for a verdict in the george zimmerman murder trial. zimmerman is the neighborhood watch volunteer, who shot and killed unarmed, 17-year-old trayvon martin last year. as kron 4's catherine heenan reports. there will not be a verdict tonight -- the jury has called it a day. and will resume deliberations saturday morning. >> catherine: february of last year. a confrontation between neighborhood watch volunteer george zimmerman and 17-year-old trayvon martin ends - when the unarmed teenager is shot and killed. zimmerman says it was self- defense.saying the teenager attacked him. prosecutors say it's second degree murder.and the teenager was racially profiled. both sides had a final chance to persuade the jury.
>> saying that this is not 2nd degree murder if there's even a little reasonable doubt. >> catherine: andin rebuttal.the prosecution tried to tug at heart strings. repeatedly referring to martin as a 'child.' >> every child's worst nightmare.to be followed in the dark.trayvon martin's last emotion >> catherine: trayvon martin's parents have been in court. george zimmerman's parents and his wife were here. in closing arguments.the defense used cardboard cut- outs to show the height difference between the two men. saying zimmerman is anything but the power- hungry assailant the prosecution tried to paint him as.

county clerks to deny marriage licenses to same - sex couples. the group which sponsored the 2008 ballot measure banning gay marriage. filed a petition today that makes a two- pronged legal attack against same- sex marriages. first, the group says, state officials ordering county clerks to issue the licenses. have no legal authority to do so. the group also says, proposition- 8 actually remains in force, because the u.s. supreme court tossed out the case on a legal technicality. rather than ruling directly on the constitutionality of the marriage ban. >> a milestone reached in the construction of the new eastern span of the bay bridge. the road that drivers will soon travel. now being paved with asphalt on both spans of the seismic retrofit project. now that the roadway of the self - anchored suspension span is near complete. cal-trans lays out the final steps before the new span can be opened. >> there is still some

pam. we are near the. webrannan near the intersection of brannan and 7th the suspect is in custody. he is being held at a san francisco general hospital with none-life threatening injuries. this is an active homicide investigation. there is still, a decent amount of police presence. earlier today, however, there was a swarm of police at this intersection they called a they406 meaning shots fired and they need help. when they encountered him walking out of the cold storage at the jewelry mart he opened
police on the fire and they encountered him walking out of a gold store --. at the jewelry store and here is what the police chief had to say. >> the building that contains hundreds of people has been cleared. just out of an abundance of caution and there are about 75 people left to be interviewed. and working to be identified and to everyone else has been methodically processed. throughout the entire street. >> reporter: the police chief basically talking how the innocent bystanders, and witnesses that would have potentially been injured in this chaotic shooting. right in broad daylight. they could have really-been injured in broad daylight.
