>> vicki : at eight. in just a few hours. a major stretch of highway 101 will be shut down in burlingame as p-g- &-e crews work on a damaged power line. this-- after a construction crew crashed into a transmission pole using a crane friday night. good evening i'm vicki liviakis. kron 4's scott rates is live in burlingame tonight. scott. how long will the highway be closed for? >> scott :ec behind me that highway patrol this year and then in the distance and the p g n e crews they're getting ready for tonight's work, they tell me that there will be stringing about 1,500 ft. of power lines across the freeway and that is what they need to close it

legionella bacteria can grow in water so officials are taking as many precautions as possible. symptoms of the disease are typically high fever, chills, and coughing. an alarming crime in one pleasant hill neighborhood tonight. an armed violent robber is on the loose after attacking a clerk at a gas station. it's a story you'll only see on kron 4. emily turner joins us live from the scene. emily, what can you tell us about the manhunt? >> emily : the man hunt is in full effect right now in fact i just saw police officers go to search more yards around the gas station. here is a video from around 6:00 this evening and just before that is when police say that a man walked into the gas station in pleasant hill and he held the gas station owner up for money and put the gun in

the owner's mouth after taking the money he only got around $500, and the owner only had a small scratch on his mouth but has gone to the hospital and is expecting to heal but it has left the community on edge as a man has not been found yet and still wandering around life in pleasant hill --live in pleasant hill >> vicki : police are investigating an indecent exposure incident that occurred in downtown palo alto on friday evening. a man followed a female victim to her car. when she stopped to check her g- p-s.she heard a knock on her window.and looked up to see the suspect standing directly next to her door. he then pulled down his pants and exposed himself. the victim called the police when she got home. the suspect is described as a white male in his mid- twenties.about 5-foot-eight.with medium-length brown hair. a teenage eager to be a part of

bay area fashion week is accusing a model recruiter of sexually assaulting him. that boy remains in the hospital tonight. kron 4's alecia reid spoke with the teen's mother, who believes there are more victims out there. >> alecia :directing a photo shoot as models prepare for bay area fashion week, roger francisco is accused of sexually assaulting a male model that showed up to his office on friday. he's donning shades with a busted lip, and bruises on his face. i sat down with the alleged victim's mother who didn't want to show her face on camera in order to protect her son's identityshe says after fighting off his attacker, the teenager called police then her. >> : he said mom he touched mei didn't know how to react because i didn't know where he was. >> alecia :the victim's mother rushed to the modeling office on west santa clara street, where she found police and the suspect in cuffs. >> : he was in cuffs on the corner.

>> : water was pouring out of the hose shooting out almost all the way to the street here for about 8 hours a day how many days i think about 2 or three days >> stanley :that was the complaint from neighbors regarding this house in the five thousand block of maxwelton street in the oakland hill according to neighbors this is what it looked like for a few days water spraying uninterrupted until >>:one of our water conservation tech called the customer ad as well called the person that reported the water waste spoke with them/ someone went to the home and determined the water was still spraying so what we did was shut off the irrigation valves it appeared the owner didn't know the sprinklers were spraying as much as they were. could this simply be a case of the home owners not being home at the time? >> stanley :a note like this was left on the door, but all that remains is a sliver of paper, neighbors say they were home they simply refused to curtail their water usage

survivor and not a shark attack survivor says she's going to do her best to live the rest of and at --rest of her life >> vicki : the waters at morro strand state beach are closed for 72 hours.and shark warning signs are posted. several thousand people gathered today to honor the three u-s forest service firefighters who died battling wildfires in washington state. more than eighty vehicles took part in the procession leading to the memorial service where more than 100 firefighters stood at attention. forest chief tom tidwell stated the three dedicated their lives to protect the forests and communities around them.and for that.everyone should be grateful. along with the procession dozens of civilians lined the streets holding signs honoring the heros. the firefighters passed away august 19th when their vehicle crashed and was taken over by flames. a community in houston is coming together in honor of a texas sheriff's deputy who was shot and killed friday.

mourners gathered at the gas station where officials say deputy darren goforth was murdered. they laid flowers.balloons.and other mementos at the pump where authorities say he was ambushed. authorities have arrested 30- year-old shannon miles in the shooting death of deputy goforth. miles is now facing a capital murder charge. a virginia family is looking for answers in their son's death. 24-year-old jay-michael mitchell had been held in jail since april.after stealing a few dollars worth of snacks from a convenience store. he had not been brought to trial because of mental issues. and last week he was found dead in his cell. the judge later said he was incompetent to stand trial.and must be transferred to eastern state hospital in williamsburg. a general district court clerk explained that there were no beds available. >>:the third deal with the situation adequately at the jail or for the person up to the appropriate place than to my mind, the hospital was not

adequate as it was not a bad available --a bed available >> vicki : krudys said the family believes mitchell was not taking his medicine.and therefore not eating. according to family - he had gone through dramatic weightloss. the superintendent of the jail is set to release a statement on the incident monday. smoke-free devices like "e cigarettes" have become a popular way to break the nicotine addiction. vapor pens, for example, allow smokers to control the amount of nicotine they receive. but the devices are also being used to smoke synthetic drugs, which can be dangerous, as well as hard for police to detect. c-n-n's investigative correspondent sara ganim > >sara :on any given afternoon-- broward county deputies come across this -- >> : "he told me he paid 5 bucks for that little bag, and the high that you get will last several hours." > >sara : this is flakka - just one of the inexpensive synthetic drugs ravaging south florida -- and there's a new twist that's making fighting these drugs even harder. e-cigarettes or vape pens.

>> : "it's just a huge challenge. it's affecting our entire communities from prevention to rehabilitation." > >sara : lt. ozzy tianga.says vaping drugs.is so discreet, teens can do it right in school. >> : "there is no scent. they can sit in the back of the room and they think it's funny. they are vaping and what they are vaping, again i cannot determine." >> : "it used to be that if you would try to get high, it would smell." >> : "exactly, all of it has changed." > >sara : and that same secrecy makes it tough for police to know what's inside that vape pen -- they have to get it tested by a lab. >> : "you can't determine what's in it right away?" >> : "not at all. in fact these individuals can smoke it right in front of you." > > sara : a recent cdc study found e-cigarette use more than tripled among middle and high schoolers in 2014. it's not known how much of that is drug-related, but young vape users are posting videos of themselves getting high on youtube.

e-r. >> : "i think that these devices do have a role in helping people get off of actual cigarettes and that they may be proven safer in that case, but in the hands of teenagers and drug abusers, they are definitely very dangerous thing to have." >> vicki : vaping devices aren't classified as drug paraphernalia so there's no federal age limit on who can buy them. and shops that sell them are popping up everywhere, on the street and online. the family of a woman who was rescued after being stranded in the sierra nevada for nine days. says she is recovering from surgery. miyuki harwood's family says in a statement sunday that she is asking for "uninterrupted rest and quiet." the 62-year-old harwood was found saturday morning in a remote area of the sierra national forest after she used a whistle to get the attention of a search and rescue team looking for her. authorities have released the identity of the fan who plunged to his death from the upper deck at a yankee - braves game last night. 60-year old gregory murrey of

>> vicki : dominica has declared disaster status after tropical storm erika killed twenty people. the storm whipped threw the island for 5 hours on wednesday bringing strong winds and intense rain.

erika started flooding and landslides and destroyed hundreds of homes. rescue teams are working to reopen roads to remote areas on the island as well as the main airport where debris and mud have taken over. the country is now appealing for international aid. brian, what can we expect for tomorrow? >> brian :it looks like the system is just going to stay north of the whole line items-- --hawaiian islands this storm right here to the east of hawaii is hurricane 8 nuncio--ignacio winds up to 150 m.p.h.

this is a major sybolic gesture to alaska natives on the eve of the president's historic visit to alaska. by renaming the peak denali.and athabascan word meaning "the high one".obama waded into a sensitive and decades ols conflict between residents of alakska and ohio. alaskans have informally called the mountain denali for years. egypt's recent expansion of the suez canal may bring some unintended consequences. marine biologists say an invasive species of jellyfish is making its way through the suez and into the mediterranean. where they've been stinging beach-goers in israel -- and elsewhere. cnn's oren liebermann has more. > >oren : swarms of stinging jellyfish. filling the waters of the eastern mediterranean sea. but they're not supposed to be here. these nomad jellyfish are from the indian ocean. thousands of miles away. marine biologist bella galil says they came here through the suez canal. a symptom of a much larger problem that could get worse with the canal's expansion.
