morning. this all happened at the coliseum bart station around 9:30 saturday night police say about 40-60 teenagers jumped the gates then robbed and attacked passengers . there were two officers in the coliseum station parking lot, but none on the actual platform of on the train that was targeted. now the transit agency is hoping surveillance video helps catch the group. it's this magnitude seen other

( darya ) a man is behind bars this morning after attempting to kidnap a woman in san francisco. it happened on saturday night on steiner street in the cow hollow neighborhood. a

31-year-old woman says she was walking when the man got out of his car and grabbed her. police say the man tried to put a mesh bag over the woman's head and force her into his car. she screamed and people nearby came to help her... but the man got away. on sunday, the man was spotted in sonoma county. there was a brief police chase before he crashed in petaluma and was arrested. his name has not been released. ( mark ) happening now... the search continues for a one-year-old southern california girl who may be in danger. just after 5:00 last night, lexi segura was abducted from rancho cucamonga. the man who took her is daniel segura... he has several tattoos on his arms and neck and is considered armed and dangerous. an amber alert that was issued has been lifted because the car segura was driving was found abandoned in pomona this morning. (mark) breaking news we are following out of southern california... a police chase ends in gunfire. we brought this to you live in the last hour on the kron 4 morning news. we know that two people in a stolen car lead police on a chase through long beach that ended when the

driver turned into a parking lot. he then tried to get past the road block and that's when cops opened fire. one person climbed out of the car and was taken into custody. another person was then removed by police and officers began performing c-p- r on that person. we are working to gather more information. ( mark ) a judge has decided that the tennessee teacher accused of kidnapping a 15-year-old student will be sent back to tennessee to face federal charges.( darya ) anny hong is here with more on the charges he faces and what the girl's father is saying about her return home. anny? ( anny @ land ) after a nationwide search, authorities captured 50-year-old tad cummins last week in a remote cabin in northern california, northwest of redding. his former student, 15-year-old elizabeth thomas, was with him and rescued. court documents say cummins planned to take the girl to mexico... and he even took a boat from san diego on a test run. prosecutors say during his six weeks on the run, cummins switched license

plates twice, disabled his car's g-p-s, used different names and paid only in cash. the girl's family says she is struggling to get back to normal: ( anny @ land ) if convicted, cummins faces at least 10 years in prison. ( mark ) now to a story you will see only on kron 4... a car is stolen in the east bay and with a family's dog inside. it happened over the weekend at marina square in san leandro. 18-year-old ayashe perez and her boyfriend made a quick stop at the shopping center and left her dog, koda, in the car. thieve's broke in and stole the older-model honda with the 13-year-old black scottish terrier in the

back seat. the dog, koda, has to take medication every 12-hours.

( darya ) two caltrans workers have died after a shooting at a maintenance facility in northern california. investigators say a caltrans worker shot and killed his female supervisor in rio dell yesterday. 61-year-old annette brooks was gunned down after a fight with the employee. 57-year-old terry hayse then shot himself - and died. no other workers were hurt in the ( mark ) rescue crews have suspended their search for a plane that was headed to petaluma from lake tahoe. it went missing last week. two santa rosa residents were on board the small plane that never arrived in petaluma as planned. the pilot, brenda richard and her husband mark left the truckee-tahoe airport 8 days ago. crews have been searching for the couple in a steep and wooded area, 20- miles northwest of truckee in the sierra nevada mountain range. no word if crews will resume their search for the couple. ( darya ) the golden state warriors sweep the portland trail blazers, 4 games to none... the warriors now advance to round 2 of the

n-b-a playoffs.( mark ) let's get to the highlights. kevin durant played... but golden state was without head coach steve kerr last night who's battling health issues. and it was all warriors from the get-go. they scored a franchise playoff record 45 points in the first quarter. durant played just 20 minutes, but scored 10 points. steph curry led the way with 37 points. draymond green scored 21 and klay thompson had 18. the warriors win, 128 to 103. after the game curry talked about what's ahead as the team moves on to the next round. relatively clear and cool outside with temperatures in the low 50s near the water and mid 40s inland. right now, temperatures are generally in the low 50s by the water and cooler inland. by mid morning we'll warm it up to the mid 50s for most folks. around lunchtime we should be in the low 60s with breezy conditions at the bay and coast. then, by 3:00 pm we'll be hitting our peak temperatures for the day, which will range from the low 60s at the coast, to the mid 60s bayside, with upper 60s possible inland. it will be gusty at the coast all day. winds will pick up this evening for inland communities with gusts around 20 mph blowing through the valleys. that's today's forecast. your

(mark) new this morning.... the newly approved gas tax won't actually generate enough money to repair roads in the state. (darya) anny hong is here with the details. (anny) the report was just released yesterday from the san francisco non-profit "next 10". they say while the new state legislation provides billions to improve roads, but the money won't be enough to maintain the state's roads long term. officials say it's a good start... but the state needs nine-point-eight billion dollars more each year. options to generate

more money could be toll roads or charging drivers for the number of miles they drive. the gas tax bill was passed earlier this month... but governor brown has not signed it into law yet. if it becomes law, it will raise five-billion dollars a year for road maintenance. poorly maintained roads costs drivers $844 a year in vehicle repairs. (mark) a bay area civil rights attorney is filing that lawsuit on behalf of a black man who was punched while being arrested for jaywalking in sacramento. this is video of the police officer punching the man repeatedly in the face during his arrest. attorney john burris filed the lawsuit on behalf of nandi cain junior. cain is suing the city of sacramento, the county and the officer who has been identified as anthony figeroa. burris is calling on the officer to be fired.

still alive. and you would think that it was 2017, it would die.">(mark) the sacramento county sheriff's office says it is investigating the case and would not comment on the lawsuit. (darya) two officers are recovering after being attacked in davis over the weekend. it happened at the annual "picnic day" at u-c davis. more than 50-thousand people were expected to show up for the celebration on saturday. two plain-clothes officers were breaking up crowds partying in the streets when they were attacked. police say the crowd started taunting them before several people stared beating them to the ground. the officers were punched and kicked in the head and hit with bottles. they were eventually able to fight off their attackers and call for backup. three men were arrested. ( darya ) if you make a six-figure salary, you are now considered "low-income" in parts of the bay area.( mark ) take a look at these new numbers from the department of housing and urban development. the salaries are for a family of four. in san

frnacisco and san mateo counties the salary is over 105-thousand dollars. santa clara county is about 84- thousand, and contra costa county about 80-thousand. those families are able to apply for public housing through the local housing authority. for people living in the bay area, the numbers are not that surprising:

yesterday saying that cracks in the main spillway may have led to the spillway's failure in february. nearly 200- thousand people had to evacuate after both of the dam's spillways began collapsing. this new report comes after criticism that officals weren't telling the public enough about risks from two damaged spillways. ( darya ) former president george h-w bush is staying at the hospital for a few more days while he recovers from a mild case of pneumonia. that is according to a family spokesman. he says the hospital hopes to discharge the 92-year-old by the end of the week. he has been in the hospital since april 14th. doctors say his pneumonia has been treated. former president bush spent 16 days in the hospital in january for treatment of pneumonia. ( darya ) elton john is recovering from a serious health scare. the colosseum at caesar's palace says elton john's april and may appearances are canceled because the singer has a rare infection. doctors say he contracted an unusual bacterial infection during a

recent tour of south america. he got sick after a trip to chile and spent two nights in a hospital in the u-k. the 70-year-old pop icon is currently resting at home. he is expected to make a full recovery. (mark) actress faye dunaway is speaking out about the best picture fiasco at the oscars. she says she thought co-presenter warren beatty was joking when he paused before showing her the envelope... and was stalling for effect. (darya) dunaway read "la la land" as best picture winner rather than "moonlight". beatty and dunaway were mistakenly handed the back-up envelope for actress in a leading role instead of the envelope for best picture. dunaway says she read the movie's title on the card but didn't notice emma stone's name. she says she feels guilty because she could have done something to prevent the debacle. (mark) a company says they have created a smartphone case to help parents prevent their kids from becoming addicted to their phones. (darya) it's made by the japanese company "momo". the case can only be removed with a special screwdriver, and parents can set time restrictions using an app that pairs with the phone. (mark) if kids try to exceed the limit... the screen automatically turns to sleep mode. motion detectors will also deactivate the phone when walking to prevent accidents. republicans are standing up to their school after it canceled an appearance by conservative commentator ann coulter.( darya ) anny hong is here with how the group is responding to the school. anny? ( anny @ land ) the group filed a lawsuit against the school in federal court yesterday. the lawsuit says cancelling ann coulter's appearance violated her right to free speech. coulter was supposed to speak this thursday but school administrators canceled it citing security concerns. they offered her another date to speak but coulter said it was a day when students were not going to be on campus and she refused. this comes two months after violent protests cancelled a speech by former breit-bart editor milo yiannopoulos.

office and the people who run the police department in berkeley to make sure the people who are in the premises of berkeley california are safe from violent criminals who are trying to suppress the rights of others."> a cal spokesperson released a statement saying the school supports free speech and have been working to re-schedule coulter's appearance.( anny @ land ) coulter says she still plans to speak on thursday even though the school has asked her not to. ( mark ) police are searching for the gunman in a deadly shooting in san francisco. it happened yesterday morning in the area of missouri street and watchman way. that's in the potrero hill neighborhood. the victim was taken to the hospital and died of his injuries. there is no clear descrption of the gunman this morning. ( darya ) a lawyer for the kentucky doctor who was dragged from a united flight...is also representing a woman who was hit by a flight attendant on american airlines. american has suspended this flight

attendant after this video surfaced. the incident started friday at s-f-o after a flight attendant took a stroller away from a mother just before takeoff. witnesses say she tried to put the stroller in the overhead bin. they say the flight attendant took it down, hitting her with it and coming just inches from hitting her baby. american airlines has apologized for the incident. (darya) we are now hearing from the aviation officer seen dragging a man off of an united airlines flight in chicago. he says doctor david dao was physically and verbally combative. in a freedom of information act request...the aviation department revealed the officer's side of the story. it also said the officer's name is james long. long says dao pulled his arms away

when he tried pulling him from his seat. dao fell and hit an arm-rest during the incident...dao's lawyer said he broke his nose and teeth. dao plans to sue. (mark) happening now... deputies in pasadena are still searching for a five-year-old boy who was reported missing over the weekend. the boy was last seen on thursday when he went with his dad to disneyland. he was reported missing when his dad did not bring him back to his mom on saturday. later that day, police found his dad unconscious at a park. it is not clear if aramazd was abducted. his dad is behind bars. investigators are searching his dad's home for clues. ( mark ) it appears that president trump is putting off asking congress for the money to build his proposed border wall. the money for the wall has been a sticking point for many members of congress as they debate a new government spending bill. the president told a group of reporters last night that he would come back to the border wall at a later date. the white house was asking for

more than a billion dollars for a down payment on the wall. if a deal is not reached on the spending bill by the end of the week, the federal government could shut down. ( darya ) president trump says the u.n. security council should be prepared to impose more sanctions on north korea. the president is making a new appeal to the united nations to take action and he's telling north korea's leader to back down. north korea has threatened to sink the u.s. aircraft carrier carl vinson. president trump says he wants the u-n to resolve the problems posed by north korea. ( darya ) a u-s citizen has been detained in north korea. he was taken into custody over the weekend as he boarded a plane. the u.s. state department says it's monitoring the situation.

( mark ) things are back to normal this morning after police found a pipe bomb and a grenade in san francisco's potrero hill neighborhood. it happened last night near the intersection of wisconsin and 22nd streets. after a small explosion, the bomb and the grenade were disposed of. police are trying to figure out where they came from. ( darya ) a san bruno man accused of killing his neighbor and cutting up the body has pleaded not guilty. this is video from an earlier court hearing for 50- year-old david stubblefield investigators say the murder happened last month after stubblefield and 77-year-old benjamin roybal got into a fight over the price of a space heater. they say stubblefield tear-gassed roybal, shot him in the chest, and later tried to cut up the body. the body was discovered earlier this month. bail has been set at 10 million dollars. ( mark ) charges have been filed against two men in hercules accused of kidnapping and beating a 19-year-old. paul marquis and jason harrison were arrested last week. police say the two

(mark) parents in that city are now discussing whether or not female toddlers should be treated the same as the males. gwen buckles says her 3-year-old daughter was playing on the splash pad in her clothes. the mom says her kid got cold and wanted to take off her wet shirt. the mom says she thought nothing of it and took her daughter's shirt off. but a few minutes later, an employee walked up and told her it's park policy and that all girls must wear some sort of top. to repair roads in the state. the report was just released from the san francisco non-profit "next 10". they say while the new state legislation provides billions to improve roads, but the money won't be enough to maintain the state's roads long term. officials say it's a good start... but the state needs nine-point-eight billion dollars more each year. options to generate more money could be toll roads or charging drivers for the number of miles they drive. the gas tax bill was passed earlier this month... but governor brown has not signed it into law yet. if it becomes law, it will raise five-billion dollars a year for road maintenance.

( darya ) state fish and wildlife workers are now confirming that it was a mountain lion that entered the bedroom of a pescadero home and snatched a family's dog. it happened last week. police say a woman and her child were sleeping when the family dog began frantically barking at the foot of the bed. a door to the backyard had been left open to let cool air inside. that's how the mountain lion got in. the woman says she saw the shadow of the mountain lion grab the dog. state workers confirm that a trace of the mountain lion's blood

( mark ) a man who was punched by a police officer in sacramento is now filing a lawsuit against police. a bay area civil rights attorney is filing that lawsuit on behalf of a black man who was punched while being arrested for jaywalking in sacramento. this is video of the police officer punching the man repeatedly in the face during his arrest. attorney john burris filed the lawsuit on behalf of nandi cain junior. cain is suing the city of sacramento, the county and the officer who has been identified as anthony figeroa. burris is calling on the officer to be fired. ( darya ) the newly approved gas tax won't actually generate enough money to repair roads in the state. the report was just released yesterday from the san francisco non-profit "next 10". they say while the new state legislation provides billions to improve roads, but the money won't be enough to maintain the state's roads long term. officials say it's a good start... but the state needs nine-point-eight billion dollars more each year. options to generate more money could be toll roads or charging drivers for the number of miles they drive. the gas tax bill was passed

( darya ) if you make a six-figure salary, you are now considered "low-income" in parts of the bay area.( mark ) take a look at these new numbers from the department of housing and urban development. the salaries are for a family of four. in san frnacisco and san mateo counties the salary is over 105-thousand dollars. santa clara county is about 84- thousand, and contra costa county about 80-thousand. those families are able to apply for public housing through the local housing authority. for people living in the bay area, the numbers are not that surprising:

( darya ) two caltrans workers have died after a shooting at a maintenance facility in northern california. investigators say a caltrans worker shot and killed his female supervisor in rio dell yesterday. 61-year-old annette brooks was gunned down after a fight with the employee. 57-year-old terry hayse then shot himself - and died. no other workers were hurt in the shooting. ( mark ) rescue crews have suspended their search for a plane that was headed to petaluma from lake tahoe. it went missing last week. two santa rosa residents were on board the small plane that never arrived in petaluma as planned. the pilot, brenda richard and her husband mark left the truckee-tahoe airport 8 days ago. crews have been searching for the couple in a steep and wooded area, 20- miles northwest of truckee

we will post updates as we get them on this story ( mark ) we are learning new information into the troubled oroville dam. the department of water resources released a new report yesterday saying that cracks in the main spillway may have led to the spillway's failure in february. nearly 200- thousand people had to evacuate after both of the dam's spillways began collapsing. this new report comes after criticism that officals weren't telling the public enough about risks from two damaged spillways. ( darya ) two officers are recovering after being attacked in davis over the weekend. it happened at the annual "picnic day" at u-c davis. more than 50-thousand people were expected to show up for the celebration on saturday. two plain-clothes officers were breaking up crowds partying in the streets when

they were attacked. police say the crowd started taunting them before several people stared beating them to the ground. the officers were punched and kicked in the head and hit with bottles. they were eventually able to fight off their attackers and call for backup. three men were arrested. ( darya ) quatar airways is adding san francisco to its network of u-s destinations. this comes as the airlines are seeing a drop in passengers flying to the u-s. from muslim countries. the company's c-e-o says this is because muslim passengers are afraid that their visas may be rejected when they get here. the airlines san francisco service is expected to begin in 20-18. ( mark ) former president george h-w bush is staying at the hospital for a few more days while he recovers from a mild case of pneumonia. that is according to a family spokesman. he says the hospital hopes to discharge the 92-year-old by the end of the week. he has been in the hospital since april 14th. doctors say his pneumonia has been treated. former president bush spent 16 days in the hospital in january for treatment of pneumonia.
