( marty ) our top story this morning... a desperate search underway for a child, who police say, was kidnapped by her mother who does not have custody of that child. now authorities are combing through bart surveillance cameras hoping to get a clue about where the two may be headed. it happened this yesterday afternoon on

(hermela aregawi)tonight - five year old mayalyia booker is still missing.around 3:15 this afternoon - her grandmother called police to report that her mother, 34 year old laquita davis ran off with the litle girl.police say davis has diminished capacity. tasha slaughter/neighbor:i really hope that it is that the child is found perfectly safe and unharmed and also the mother that she can get whatever help that she may need that this doesn't happen again.police say davis doesn't drive - and the evidence suggests she fled on foot. sgt andrew frankel/berkeley pd spokesman: right now it appears as though two of the three dogs that potentially that ms. davis got on bart with the little girl. so we're working with bart pd to review video and we are asking members of the community to keep their eyes peeled for ms. davis and ms. booker.until about 9 this evening, more than a half a dozen police cruisers were at the family's

an oakland street in a crosswalk. the street is notorious for collisions and now one local lawmaker is demanding something be done to keep people safe. grant lodes has the details. we do want to warn youthe video is graphic. it's hard to watch. jacquelyn velasquez:"i thought i was dead when i was on the floor i thought i was gone." two teenage girls, waiting for an opening so they can cross the street... they start walking...then bam. a car slams into them...sending the girls flying...and pinning the young boy under the car."everything was dark because i was trying to sarh to keep my eyes open but i couldn't." jacquelyn velasquez was walking with her two cousins around 9:30 at night on july 5th...this was on fruitvale avenue near brookdale ave. jacquelyn has broken ribs, a lacerated kidney, bruising all over, and has already had surgery on her her heart...her aorta artery. year old cousin broke her leg injured her back. and they're the lucky ones...both out of the hosptial. the little boy they we're helping cross...4 or 5 years old...is still in children's hospital oakland with spinal injuries. it really is a nightmare. ( marty ) a massive high rise fire in hawaii has claimed the lives of three people. the fire began on the 26th -floor of the marco polo apartments. it quickly spread to a number of other floors. it's unclear what may have started the fire. but authorities said the apartment house was built

here is a look at some of the new medical findings released this week: ( marty ) serving your child macaroni and cheese could be harmful to their health. the problem is with the cheese powder that comes in the boxes. scientists have found that the powder in ten different boxes of mac n' cheese contain toxic industrial chemicals. those chemicals can affect brain development and thyroid function. the scientists behind the new study are urging the makers of macaroni

( marty ) we are learning new details about the man who died in a plane crash in sonoma county. 38-year-old william sachs goldman was part of a well- known philanthropic family in san francisco. his grandmother was a descendent of levi strauss, and along with his grandfather were known to donate millions of dollars to charities nationwide. friends say goldman followed in his families footsteps. he was with his two children and nanny on the private plane when it took off from the sonoma skypark airport and crashed on wednesday. investigators are still working on finding the what caused the crash. ( marty ) the search is on for whoever left a sick dog áabandoned outside of an aminal shelter in martinez. kron 4's ella sogomonian has the details. (nats: scratching)this neglected pup has a severely itchy rash all over her body because of a contagious disease caused by burrowing

mites.as she scratches her sensitive skin bleeds a pool of blood.sot: beverley penzine, contra costa veterinarian// "a reasonable, caring, knowledgeable owner would take one look at this dog and realize this dog needs medical treatment."instead - surveillence video caught a glimpse of a man leaving the months-old dog in a crate outside the contra costa county animal services shelter thursday night around 10:30. right where a sign reads "animal abandonment is a crime".the dog nicknamed rosie because of her skin rash - was forced to wait there until employees found her in the morning.sot: steve burdo, contra costa animal services// "we're putting out a call to the public to see if anybody identifies this man or the dog. we'd like to know as much about the dog as we can and work our best to find a good placement for her."burdo says because information is so crucial for adoption - a person has to come in during office hours if they can't keep their pet anymore. ( marty ) in the south bay... a man who admitted to stealing and killing more than a dozen

cats in a san jose neighborhood - has been sentenced to nearly two - decades behind bars. the judge gave robert farmer the maxium sentence saying farmer's victims were vulnerable, and called him a danger to the community. back in the fall of 2015 farmer killed as many as 16 cats from the cambrian park neighborhood. last october the 25-year-old pleaded guilty to 20- counts of animal cruelty. ( marty ) in gilroy... a mother is speaking out after a pellet gun shattered her window, and struck her 7-year-old daughter. julie oxley was traveling on highway 101 with her daughter earlier this week. while crossing the intersection of santa teresa boulevard and fitzgerald avenue someone fired a shot. her daughter was nicked by the pellet on the ear. now oxley is concerned about safety while driving in rural areas.

oxley has found other victims on facebook. now santa clara county sheriff deputies say they will increase their patrols in the area. ( marty ) in the south bay... san jose police are investigating a package theft caught on camera. san jose resident heidi burrows was driving up to her house wednesday evening when she discovered a couple attempting to steal a package that was left on her porch. burrows confronted the couple, and the pair threw the package out of their car. now police surveillance video from burrows to catch the suspects. no arrest have been made at this time. inspectors are still investigating what caused the fire at the commercial building in lafayette wednesday night.. the contra costa county fire marshall says the building that housed nine different businesses is a complete loss. the conditions were still so hazardous on thursday that crews were ánotá able to go into the site.. the fire caused a little over one million dollars in damages. ( marty ) the wall fire that has been burning in butte county for over a week is now 96-percent contained.. the fire has destroyed more than 40 homes and 50 other buildings. it also burned through more than six thousand acres.. all of the evacuation orders and road closures have been lifted.. no injuries were reported. ( marty @ landing) those who have lost their homes in the wall fire are now being warned about scammers.. these signs are now up around the county.. contractors

with the state license board say that some un-licensed contractors may try to take advantage of people needing their home rebuilt.. state law says any contracting work with a non licensed person must be under 500 dollars... which is clearly not enough for a home rebuild. any legitimate services are required to have a license number which can be verified on the boards website. < rick lopes, cslb: "the last thing we want is to have these unlicensed our unscrupulous contractors to hit upon them and take advantage of their low emotional state right now.> ( marty ) crews expect to have the wall fire 100-percent contained by today. dispensery in san francisco's sunset district has been given the green light to open. it is called the apothecarium.. the dispensary will be located on noriega street and 32nd avenue. it was approved by the planning commission on thursday ... by a five- to- one vote. the opening of this dispensary caused heated debate between residents in the sunset district. it will be operated by the former mayor of oakland - jean quan and her husband. it is set to be ready for business in 20- 18.. ( marty ) in the north bay... police have arrested a man on suspicion of choking a child at a park it happened in petaluma thursday night. police say two kids were near walnut park when a man....identified as 49-year-old eric conroy.... walked up to them...placed a strap around one of their necks and began to tighten it.. the victim was able to escape and did ánotá lose

looking for several thieves who stole a car and went speeding through a neighborhood... the car ended up crashing into a tree and rolling into a homeowner's front yard and it was all

( marty ) in alameda county, law enforcement agencies have confiscated three times as many illegal fireworks this year than they did in 2016. kron four's spencer blake shows us just how much they confiscated.and how dangerous some of those fireworks are. ( marty ) as the french celebrated bastille day on friday, they also marked the first anniversary of the bastille day truck attack in france. on july 14th, 20-16, a man used a 20-ton truck to plow down hundreds of people celebrating bastille day in nice. 84 people were killed and hundreds were injured. the driver was shot to death by police after barreling down a crowded promenade filled with people who were about to watch a fireworks show. police say the driver was born in tunisia, but had a permit to live and work in france. isis claimed responsibility for the attack. coming up.. we'll explain how the opiod epidemic is not only impacting people, but animals too. it can also be effective for a person who is going through an opioid overdose. ( marty ) take look at this... a truck hauling over 75-hundred pounds of live hagfish also known as slime eels overturned and turned the whole area into a slimy mess. it happened in oregon. police say the flat bed detached from the truck and flew across the highway causing a chain reaction crash. you can see the damaged cars covered in the gooey mess. the fire department had to use a bulldozer to clear the eels from from the highway. police say when the hagfish become stressed, they secrete a slime which turns into foam. the slime eels were going to be shipped to korea. turning up the heat this weekend, with a heat advisory in place for much of the bay...your forecast is next !

( marty ) we are learning new details about the man who died in a plane crash in sonoma county. 38-year-old william sachs goldman was part of a well- known philanthropic family in san francisco. his grandmother was a descendent of levi strauss, and along with his grandfather were known to donate millions of dollars to charities nationwide. friends say goldman followed in his families footsteps. he was with his two children and nanny on the private plane when it took off from the sonoma skypark airport and crashed on wednesday. investigators are still working on finding the what caused the crash. ( marty ) the search is on for whoever left a sick dog áabandoned outside of an aminal shelter in martinez.

( marty ) in the south bay... a man who admitted to stealing and killing more than a dozen cats in a san jose neighborhood - has been sentenced to nearly two - decades behind bars. the judge gave robert farmer the maxium sentence saying farmer's victims were vulnerable, and called him a danger to the community. back in the fall of 2015 farmer killed as many as 16 cats from the cambrian park neighborhood. last october the 25-year-old pleaded guilty to 20- counts of animal cruelty. ( marty ) in gilroy... a mother is speaking out after a pellet gun shattered her window, and struck her 7-year-old daughter. julie oxley was traveling on highway 101 with her daughter earlier this week. while crossing the intersection of santa teresa boulevard and fitzgerald avenue someone fired a shot. her daughter was nicked by the

( marty ) fire crews and inspectors are still investigating what caused the fire at the commercial building in lafayette wednesday night.. the contra costa county fire marshall says the building that housed nine different businesses is a complete loss. the conditions were still so hazardous on thursday that crews were ánotá able to go into the site.. the fire caused a little over one million dollars in damages. ( marty ) the wall fire that has been burning in butte county for over a week is now 96-percent contained.. the fire has destroyed more than 40 homes and 50 other buildings. it also burned

take look at this... a truck hauling over 75-hundred pounds of live hagfish also known as slime eels overturned and turned the whole area into a slimy mess. it happened in oregon. police say the flat bed detached from the truck and flew across the highway causing a chain reaction crash. you can see the damaged cars covered in the gooey mess. the fire department had to use a bulldozer to clear the eels from from the highway.
