( darya ) the d-m-v near the oakland coliseum will stay closed until at least monday because of flooding. d-m-v workers came in to the

east oakland location wednesday morning to find the building flooded. thieves stole copper pipes from the heating and a-c units on the roof...which caused the massive flooding. we spoke to a man who lives in sight of that d-m-v, and asked if he heard anything overnight. ( darya ) c-h-p says that theives stole less than 50-dollars worth of copper pipes... causing thousands of dollars worth of damage. ( darya ) police in fairfield have arrested this man... he's accused of buglarizing five businesses in the city. his name is john scharff in each crime - police say he used a pellet gun to shoot out a window of the business. detectives identified scharrf... using surveillance video from each

of the businesses. police are now trying to determine if scharrf is connected to similar burglaries in west scaramento. ( james ) new this morning... a san francisco police officer was allegedly assaulted during a pursuit in the tenderloin. it happened wednesday night on seventh and market streets... police say they saw a wanted man in that neighborhood and began to chase him. during the pursuit... dante oliver allegedly knocked an officer to the ground... injuring her. oliver was arrested on suspicion of multiple offenses... including aggravated assault on an officer. the officer was taken to the hospital where she was treated and later released. ( james ) in the north bay... hundreds of people gathered in santa rosa to vent over firestorm recovery progress... or lack there of. two main points of wednesday night's meeting were water contamination and debris cleanup. more than four months after the devastating fires... many north bay residents have yet to start rebuilding. people that showed up said that they were told fema would remove the foundation... but are now

( james ) 13 homes in the fountain grove neighborhood also have water contamination... people have been told not to drink the water even after boiling because of a toxic substance found in the water system. ( james ) it's going to be a warm thursday in the bay area... but we need rain. rainfall across the region is barely áhalf of what it should be. and we may not catch up. there is little runoff into santa clara valley reservoirs... which are just 26 percent full. one local expert says the odds of this being a normal rainfall year are slim to none.

( james ) in the south bay... the number of flu cases is on the rise. health officials say the south bay is putting northern california high on the list for flu severity. the bay area ranked number 11 nation wide with the most severe cases of one strain of the flu. ( james ) a warning about a hepatitis outbreak in monterey. city officials announced the outbreak affecting their homeless population. this comes as santa cruz county announced the end of its hepatitis-a outbreak that began in april of last year. there were 76 cases there.. and at least one death. in monterey county... nine people with a history of homelessness have been diagnosed with hepatitis- a since october. ( darya ) a big story we're tracking.. a former san mateo county baseball coach... pleads no contest to molestation and sexual assault charges. julio edgardo ortiz is facing 50 years in prison when he returns to court for sentencing in march. ortiz was arrested in september 20-16... after a c-h- p officer spotted him on interstate 280. prosecutors say when that officer checked inside the car... he found ortiz sexually assaulting a teenage boy. ortiz met the teen when he was coaching baseball at a redwood city elementary school. ( darya ) a convicted murderer at san quentin state prison was turned into a sex slave and is now being rewarded because of it. a jury is giving william cordoba 65-thousand dollars after he sued vocational instructor silvia pulido. cordoba says pulido pressured him into trading sex acts after promising him a lawyer to help

him get out of prison. cordoba says the abuse began in 2010 when he became her clerk. and when he tried to end the agreement... pulido accused him of disciplinary violations that put him in solitary confinement for nine months. ( james ) scientists say there is a 72-percent chance of a 6-point-7 or greater earthquake hitting the bay area in the next 30 years... and people need to prepare. for many, the loma prieta earthquake was the catastrophe of a lifetime. but a new study found the impacts of the next big one, could be much worse. the association of bay area governments looked at 16 different earthquake scenarios to find the impact on housing. the worst of the those studied... a 7 point 8 earthquake on the san andreas fault. a young san jose mother was gunned down.. and police are searching for her killer. kron 4 sat down with the father of elizabeth garcia's children. san jose police say the garcia was being chased by a unknown driver while she was driving in west san jose. she then crashed into a tree. that is when the gunman walked up to the crash site and opened fire. garcia was taken to the hospital where she died.
