a tip that nobody followed up on. kron four's spencer blake joins us live in the newsroom, looking at what people had been telling law enforcement about nikolas cruz. this latest revelation makes your stomach drop.i spoke with a former f-b-i agent here in san francisco....about how something like this could have possible happened. some funerals are already underway for those shot and killed at marjory stoneman douglas high school in south florida.emotions were still raw friday when the f-b-i announced someone called in a tip about the confessed shooter on january fifth.the caller gave specific information, explained that he owned a gun, and made online statements that he wanted to kill people."that protocol was not followed. the information was not provided to the miami field office, and not further investigation was conducted at that time."former f-b-i agent rick smith says this failure falls squarely on the shoulders of the bureau."ya know sometimes you get a call that can't be acted upon. here you have a suspect's name, what he's going to do, a little bit about him, and nothing's done?"what's more...the broward county, florida sheriff says his office had also heard a lot about cruz before the shooting. (grant) california senator dianne california senator dianne feinstein continues to be a very strong voice in the gun control debate. it was her assault weapons ban that was allowed to expire in 2004. now she is adressing an age limit to buy guns. today she tweeted "i plan to introduce a bill to require all firearms purchases from gun dealers be restricted to individuals at least 21 years old. if you cant buy a hangun or a bottle of beer, you shouldn't be able to buy an ar- 15."

local gun shop owners are explaining what warning signs they look for when a customer is making a purchase. in california... at the time of purchase buyers must submit their drivers license and then are asked a series of questions, all of which are then transmitted by computer to the california department of justice for a background check 10 days later a person can pick up their firearm if they pass, or will be refunded their money if they don't. but gun shop owners also have the discretion to refuse to sell someone a gun if you have someone come in and they are reaking of alcohol or marijuana, we're not going to sell you a firearm. if you come in and you just don't seem right, we have the right to refuse service and we do. (steve) a middle school teacher in san jose is behind bars...accused of possessing child pornography. this is the teacher...47-year-old clifford pappadakis. he was a physical education teacher and a track and field coach at willow glen middle school. an investigation began last september when parents saw him taking pictures of female students. pappadakis was placed on administrative leave once police got involved. detectives searched his seized computer and found numerous inappropriate images. officers issued a warrant and arrested him wednesday.

kron4's maureen kelly reports ... the surprise move came after a friend of victims unearthed social media posts ... made by the accused. these are very very special people who devoted their lives not only to their art but hoping hundreds of people sara maurer is a friend of the victims who were killed in the dui collision in san jose back 2012.you can see them here in this photo, carmel artist mark bava, his brother la photographer chris bava and his wife catherine ash. the woman wearing the yellow scarf is the mother of the two brothers..brannum pleaded no contest to the three counts of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated charged in the crash that ended the vicitm's lives. she has been under house arrest for four years while wearing an ankle monitor.during that time the victim's friend checked out her facebook posts and was shocked by what brannum was posting.shortly there after on her facebook page. she put posted a picture of a white van going off a cliff and the text and the text under it better watch out you better watch out i've killed for less not only that, the retired attorney says brannan appeared to be living a very full life. pictures of her at restaurants, smiling with her
