( james ) ( james ) breaking overnight... a car crashes into a home... killing two people in bay point.( darya ) kron 4's lydia pantazes is live at the scene. lydia? two people died in the accident. this home is located in the bay point neighborhood, in unincorporate d contra costa county near pittsburg. the crash was reported at 12:51 a.m. at 1 wharf drive, just off of port chicago highway. chp did not say if the victims from the vehicle, the house, or both. investigators are

two fires at two separate strip malls overnight. the most recent happening in dublin.( james ) kron 4's will tran joins us live from the scene of that fire with the details. will? the fire broke out wednesday night at the abandoned strip mall. witnesses reported that homeless people were sleeping inside. sleeping inside. people were sleeping inside.

the hospital in four separate stabbings in san francisco. the stabbings happened on monday and tuesday. the first happened monday night when a shoplifter slashed the person who tried to stop her on stockton street. then about 30 minutes later... a man was stabbed while walking to his car near taylor and ellis streets. in that case there were three attackers. at that same time.... another man was stabbed while trying to stop a robbery at union square. and the last stabbing happened early tuesday morning near mission street and silver avenue. in that case a man was stabbed before having his backpack stolen. all four of the victims are expected to be okay. ( james ) happening now.... san francisco police are looking for the person who attacked a man with a hatchet. it happened in the tenderloin early tuesday morning near u-c hastings

school of law. police say the victim was walking home... when someone started yelling and then attacking. the victim was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. no arrests have been made. ( darya ) in the south bay... police in sunnyvale have arrested this man after they say he exposed himself to children while watching them at gymnastics practice. he is richard salcida. he has prior arrests for similar acts in other cities in santa clara county and was recently released from jail after being convicted of indecent exposure. at that time he was required to register as a sex offender. =( darya ) in the east bay... police are looking for two gunman ... after two people were hurt during a carjacking in oakland. it happened around 6:30 tuesday night near garfield elementary school. police say the two gunmen shot at least one of the victims in the elbow before taking off. the men car-jacked were taken to the hospital. they're in stable condition. jose are looking for the people who stole a truck... and then rammed it into a patrol car. it happened monday night near teatree court and thornton way. the officer was ánot hurt. the truck was later found abandoned near patton avenue and scott street. ( james ) happening today... president trump will discuss school safety with florida state leaders. this comes one day after the white house hosted a listening session on gun safety.( james ) the goal is to make sure no student ever has to go through what those at marjory stoneman douglas in parkland, florida went through last wednesday. a gunman killed 17 people there. president trump did promise change... and suggested the idea of arming teachers. he also

control. the school district says the students walked down to city hall. they also talked to the superintendent and the mayor about their reasons for walking out. larger walk- outs -- across the country -- are planned for next month. ( james ) an 11-year-old boy from santa cruz was removed removed from school after police say he planned to harm 3 other students. the fifth grader lost control tuesday afternoon, and baracaded himself inside a classroom at bay view elementary. he was safely removed by officers and taken to a healthcare facility. police later discovered he planned to harm 3 other students... officers removed a licensed handgun from boy's home out of caution. the school will host a meeting for parents about the incident this afternoon. space x launched a sattellite into low-earth orbit. the launch happened at vandenberg air force base on the central coast of california. yesterday's attempt was scrubbed due to strong upper level winds. the satellite will be deployed approximately eleven minutes after launch. ( james ) four people were injured in two separate robberies in san francisco. both

robberies happened tuesday night... the first incident happened on clay street. three women were walking down the street when a car pulled over. police say a group teens jumped out of the car and beat the women... they also stole their cell phones and wallets. two of those teens were arrested. the second incident happened on stoneyford avenue. a woman was unloading a car when two men pulled up in a car. one of the men grabbed the woman's purse with her tablet inside. she tried to fight back... but they got away. ( james ) a 69- year old military veteran is heartbroken .... after trying to help a homeless woman in fairfield. she invited the woman into her home, as the temperatures dropped. but now says, that homeless woman stole her car. sharon larson says she was larson says she was homeless herself in the late 90's and

eventually got back on her feet. so when she saw a homeless woman outside the fairfield mcdonalds... sharon invited the woman to stay with her. the woman stayed monday night. sharon did her laundry and fed her. when sharon came out of the bathroom tuesday night the homeless woman named lynn was gone and so were sharon's car keys. ( james ) lynn stole sharon's 2011 mazda cx-7... midnight blue in color. it is the only car sharon has ever owned. ( darya ) san francisco's marina district has seen a rise in property crimes...especially car break- ins. and the people who live there are fed up. the marina community

association met with officials to dicuss the issue last night. some people said that they wanted harsher punishment for car-break ins. others said san francisco should follow programs from other cities that have been effective. ( darya ) the marina community association plans to meet twice a month with officials to come up with a solution to this problem. ( darya ) a local high school wrestler -- paralyzed during a match -- is making progress in his recovery. ryan joseph suffered a spinal cord injury last month while competing for college park high school in pleasant hill. he's now at a rehab hospital in denver. we're learning that ryan is expected to return to the bay area in mid-april. his physical therapist says he now has use of his arms... his feeding tube is out... and he's started eating solid foods.

over the weekend-- ryan was able to leave the hospital and attend the colorado state wrestling championships. ( james ) this morning an oakland man is missing after a hiking trip in yosemite. it's been five days since loved ones have heard from alan chow. on saturday he went to yosemite to go hiking by himself. when he didn't show up for work on tuesday, co-workers called his family... and then yosemite officials. ( james ) three ground crews and a helicopter searched for chow in yosemite yesterday but there was no sign of the man. man accused of stealing nearly 250-thousand dollars worth of jewelry from a department store in san francisco. toby kessler is accused of robbing the same jewelry store three different times this year. police have not said which store was targeted... only that it was in the stonestown these are some the items that police recovered. the most recent robbery happened last friday. employees called police and they were able to track kessler down. ( darya ) a bart passenger is assaulted by a group of teenagers trying to steal a cell phone. it happened tuesday at the powell street bart station in downtown san francisco. the bart passenger was confronted on a train by four teens who tried to snatch his phone. when the man refused... when the phone.snatch his tried to snatch his phone. when the man refused... there was a struggle that went onto the bart platform. that's when the victim fell and the teens were able to run off with the phone.

( james ) milpitas police arrest two people after a car chase that ended in a crash. monday morning... officers recognized a stolen honda on vegas avenue near warm springs boulevard. when officers tried to pull the car over... the driver took off. the car drove through a stop sign... lost control and rammed into a tree. police say the two people inside -- michelle rodriguez and rudy cordero -- then got out of the car and ran. they were both tracked down and arrested. rodriguez is facing a string of charges, including possession of stolen property and outstanding warrants. cordero is charged with stolen property and resisting arrest. ( james ) in san francisco... city officials are calling the rash of car break-ins an epidemic. now the district attorney has unveiled a new plan to fight the crime. a new digital

( darya ) police arrest a man accused of stealing nearly 250-thousand dollars worth of jewelry from a department store in san francisco. toby kessler is accused of robbing the same jewelry store three different times this year. police have not said which store was targeted... only that it was in the stonestown mall. these are some the items that police recovered. the most recent robbery happened last friday. employees called police and they were able to track kessler down. ( darya ) a bart passenger is assaulted by a group of teenagers trying to steal a cell phone. it happened tuesday at the powell street bart station in downtown san

francisco. the man was confronted on a train by four teens who tried to snatch his phone. when he refused... there was a struggle that went onto the bart platform. that's when the victim fell and the teens were able to run off with the phone. ( james ) in the east bay... police are looking for two gunman ... after two people were hurt during a carjacking in oakland. it happened around 6:30 tuesday night near garfield elementary school. police say the two gunmen shot at least one of the victims in the elbow before taking off. the men car-jacked were taken to the hospital. they're in stable condition. ( james ) police in san jose are looking for the people who stole a truck... and then rammed it into a patrol car. it happened

surveillance video captured the moment a man climbed into a washington coffee stand and attacked a barista at knife point. the woman was making a drink for a man standing just outside the window... when she wasn't looking... he climbed inside. he then forced her to the ground and held her at knifepoint... then he pulled her outside. police said he led her to an alley nearby...and tried to sexually assault her. the man eventually took off when another customer pulled up and scared him away.

( james ) breaking overnight... a deadly car crash in bay point ... where a car went into a home.( darya ) kron 4's lydia pantazes is live at the scene. lydia? two people died in the accident. this home is located in the bay point neighborhood, in unincorporate d contra costa county near pittsburg. the crash was reported at 12:51 a.m. at 1 wharf drive, just off of port chicago highway. chp did not say if the victims from the vehicle, the house, or both. investigators are still looking into what caused the crash. reporting live in bay point, lydia pantazes kron 4 news.

( james ) now to the east bay ... where there were two fires at two separate strip malls overnight. the most recent happening in dublin ... behind a business at amador plaza. a stack of wooden pallets caught fire ... slightly damaging the outside of the building. officials are investigating the cause. ( james ) now to hayward .. where firefighters are mopping up after a fire broke out at an abandoned strip mall. it happened last night on mission boulevard. this is a picture of the scene tweeted out by hayward firefighters. it took them about 45 minutes to get the fire under control. there were homeless people in the mall when the fire started but nobody was injured. fire crews will be on scene all morning monitoring for hotspots. ( darya ) four people are sent to the hospital in four separate stabbings in san francisco. the stabbings happened on monday and tuesday. the first happened monday night when a shoplifter slashed the person who tried to stop her on stockton street.

then about 30 minutes later... a man was stabbed while walking to his car near taylor and ellis streets. in that case there were three attackers. at that same time.... another man was stabbed while trying to stop a robbery at union square. and the last stabbing happened early tuesday morning near mission street and silver avenue. in that case a man was stabbed before having his backpack stolen. all four of the victims are expected to be okay. ( darya ) happening now.... san francisco police are looking for the person who attacked a man with a hatchet. it happened in the tenderloin early tuesday morning near u-c hastings school of law. police say the victim was walking home... when someone started yelling and then attacking. the victim was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. no arrests have been made. ( darya ) in the south bay... police in sunnyvale have arrested this man after they say he exposed himself to children while watching them at gymnastics practice. he is richard salcida. he has prior

arrests for similar acts in other cities in santa clara county and was recently released from jail after being convicted of indecent exposure. at that time he was required to register as a sex offender. ( james ) happening today... president trump will discuss school safety with florida state leaders. this comes one day after the white house hosted a listening session on gun safety.( james ) the goal is to make sure no student ever has to go through what those at marjory stoneman douglas in parkland, florida went through last wednesday. a gunman killed 17 people there. president trump did promise change... and suggested the idea of arming teachers. he also expressed support for stronger background checks and regulating bump-fire stocks.

( darya ) police arrest a man accused of stealing nearly 250-thousand dollars worth of jewelry from a department store in san francisco. toby kessler is accused of robbing the same jewelry store three different times this year. police have not said which store was targeted... only that it was in the stonestown mall. these are some the items that police recovered. the most recent robbery happened last friday. employees called police and they were able to track kessler down. tuesday at the powell street bart station in downtown san francisco. the man was confronted on a train by four teens who tried to snatch his phone. when he refused... there was a struggle that went onto the bart platform. that's when the victim fell and the teens were able to run off with the phone. ( james ) milpitas police arrest two people after a car chase that ended in a crash. monday morning... officers recognized a stolen honda on vegas avenue near warm springs boulevard. when officers tried to pull the car over... the driver took off. the car drove through a stop sign... lost control and rammed into a tree. police say the two people inside -- michelle rodriguez and rudy cordero -- then got out of the car and ran. they were both tracked down and arrested. rodriguez is facing a string of charges, including possession of stolen property and outstanding warrants. cordero is charged with stolen property and resisting arrest.
