got a call early yesterday morning from analy high school ... about graffitti with a threatening message found in the boys bathroom. police say in the wake of the deadly high school shooting in florida ... no one is taking any chances. they are now investigating surveillance footage near the bathrooms.

a spokesperson for dicks sporting good made the announcement this morning.they will no longer sell high capacity magazines.they will not sell any gun to anyone under 21 regardless of local laws. (take vo)the announcement was made two weeks after the school shooting in parkland, florida that killed 17 students and staff members.dick's sporting goods stopped selling assault weapons in their stores after the newtown, connecticut school shooting in 2012, but the company was still selling them at its field & stream locations, which specialize in hunting and outdoors products. the closest one to the bay area is in oregon.the company spokesman and ceo edward stack acknowledged the parkland school shooter, nikolas cruz,had purchased a shotgun

at one of the company's stores in november but he did not use the gun in the school shooting. the gun was purchased even though all existing rules were followed. edward stack says that the system that's in place won't stop sales to dangerous people and said lawmakers must do something.in a recent interview he was he felt he had to do something after he saw the loss and grief suffered by parents and students.stack says dick's is prepared for any potential backlash, but will not change its policies on gun sales.last week, after coming under attack on social media for their ties to the national rifle association, a number of major companies severed ties with the nra ( darya ) thanks lydia. ( james ) happening now... students at marjory stoneman douglas high school in florida are back in school for the first time since 17 people were killed in a mass shooting. this is video of them returning to class this morning with police officers escourting them in. it has been two weeks since the school massacre in parkland, florida. students say returning to class is an important step towards beginning the healing process.

showing a police shooting that happened in san francisco's panhandle neighborhood. ( darya ) police say police say joel armstrong shot and killed a 28-year-old man and injured another... after getting into an argument. this happened earlier this month. police found armstrong in an r-v. s-f-p-d says seven officers fired approximatelty 65 rounds at armstrong. he was ánot hit. police say they opened fire after hearing shots coming from that r-v. armstrong was eventually arrested. ( darya ) oakland mayor libby schaaf said they were going to happen and they did. but now she's facing major backlash. ice agents have made 150 arrests throughout northern california in their latest immigration sweeps. mayor schaaf warned residents over the weekend of large-scale raids by immigration agents. she

says it's her duty and moral obligation to warn families. but critics say her warning likely has caused panic. ice told kron 4 that the mayor's actions put the agency in danger. immigration attorneys say the mayor did nothing wrong and these rumors had been circulating for awhile:

woman ... the uber driver says she was assaulted by the man. < i slowed down at the first entrance and that's when he got aggresive and asked if he could do a bump of cocaine off my chest.and then he started reaching for my sweater and pulling at my sweater. and then he grabbed my breasts and the victim had a picture of the man and police recognized him right away as someone who has targeted women in mill valley. he has not been arrested. ( james ) a 10-thousand dollar reward is being offered for information about the recent charter bus vandalism. the vandals shot at the buses with b-b guns traveling on highways in the south bay and peninsula in january and february. the buses are used to take workers to tech companies like apple and google. the highway patrol is investigating seven cases

porn charges are now free... and san jose police are frustrated with their release. clifford and clinton pappadakis are twin brothers facing charges of child pornography. but after facing a judge yesterday... the twins were released on their own recognizance and did ánot have to post bail. the president of the san jose police officers association says he doesn't know exactly who's to blame for their release. but he calls it a serious mistake. says this is ánot the first time this has happened in santa clara county. he says the release of these two men, who are former coaches at san jose schools, puts at risk the countless hours of the investigation, evidence collection and witness interviews. sargent kelly hopes their release doesn't lead to more crimes. ( james ) the man accused of ramming a sheriff's deputy with his s-u-v is now facing attempted murder charges. authorities say jack toki tried to kill alameda county sheriff's deputy payam shannon back on february first. this happened on arbor avenue in hayward. that's where deputy shannon tried to stop an s-u-v with paper plates. toki is accused of backing into shannon's motorcycle. ( james ) we now know the name of the vallejo police officer ... who fatally shot a suspect. he's officer ryan mcmahon. mcmahon stopped 33-year-old ronnell

foster. police say foster was riding a bicycle in an unsafe manner back on february 13th. when mcmahon tried to stop him... the two got into a fight. authortiies foster grabbed mcmahon's metal flashlight. that's when mcmahon pulled out his gun and shot foster. the vallejo police department is still investigating . ( james ) anti-semitic incidents rose by nearly 60 percent last year and california is one of the worst offenders. that's the anti-defamation league. that group says that is the ggest spike in more that 20 years. the report shows that there were nearly 2- thousand anti semitic incidents last year. with more than 100 of those happening in california making it one of the three worst states for anti-semitic crimes. the other two are new york and new jersey. the incidents include vandalism like we saw here in the bay area. synagogues and community centers have been targets of vandalism and threats in oakland... alameda... piedmont and los

( darya ) happening today... an happening today... an evacuation warning will go into effect in part of southern california that was devastated by mudslides last month. this comes as more storms approach the area. the warning will go into effect at 8:00 this morning. this is video of the mudslides that hit the area back in january. the evacuations are not mandatory but the santa barbara county sheriff's office says it is reccommended. the warning includes part of santa barbara and montecito. 21 people were killed when mudslides tore through the area at the beginning of the year. texting while driving is a big distraction that can cause accidents. and pedestrians who text while walking are also at risk of being in an accident or dying.(darya) last year almost 6-thousand pedestrians died for being distracted. experts suspect that pot

and smartphones contribute to this deadly trend. since pot became legal in seven states ... pedestrian deaths went up.(james) experts think distracted driving and walking laws are the solution. some states have banned walking across the street while using their phones or headphones. ( james ) the tooth fairy is getting cheap. that's according to a new survey.( darya ) it found that kids got an average of 53-cents less for their teeth in 2017 than they did in 2016.( james ) this is part of an annual survey of 6 to 12 year olds. but kids on the west coast got more money than everybody else at $4.85 per tooth.( darya ) kids in the

fire broke out at the library in el sobrante on appian way overnight. firefighters were able to quickly put the fire out but the roof was damaged and some of the books inside were drenched with water. firefighters say the fire started outside and then spread to the roof. this morning we saw arson investigators taking pictures of the damage. ( darya ) in the east bay... a convicted felon is arrested for carrying a loaded gun into an emeryville hotel. it happened at the marriott on shellmound street. a woman told police that the man... identified as james cornn... was knocking on her door. when police questioned him... he admitted that he had a gun. he was arrested for felony possession of a firearm. ( darya ) a man is behind bars after bringing a loaded gun inside a berkeley restaurant. it happened at a restaurant on shattuck avenue. the man was standing at the cash register when officers arrived...

three people in the east bay is arrested on the east coast... and is now facing attempted murder charges. jermaine hicks was arrested in atlanta. he is awaiting extradition to the bay area. the shooting was on market avenue in north richmond on january 22. police say an argument led to the shooting. ( james ) the men arrested for killing two people near daly city are expected to make their first court appearance today. police say devin lum was the gunman. they also arrested guardado duff... he's accused of being an accessory. the shooting happened sunday night on hillside boulevard in broadmoor. the two people killed are identified as 21-year-old vanessa guillory and 22-year-old michael garcia- salem. a third victim was not seriously injured. ( darya ) there are new leads about "the orginal night stalker" ... a man who terrorized sacramento neighborhoods decades ago. police say the man killed a dozen people and raped victims during the mid 1970's. now investigators are linking the man to another crime spree in

a rancho cordova neighborhood ... where there were some 30 cat burglaries in the early 1970's. that crime spree led to a sketch which bears similarities to sketches of the "night stalker." police believe the killer is still alive ... and hope the new leads will lead to an arrest. ( darya ) california fire chiefs are asking for more money to prepare for wildfires. they say reinforcements were too slow to arrive during last year's firestorms. they're asking state lawmakers for 100- million dollars to call in extra firefighters when weather conditions are ripe for a fire. the chiefs say the state's "mutual aid" system for sharing resources just can't keep up. santa rosa's fire chief said took 12 to 24 hours before crews arrived from outside the area to help with the fires burning in somona and napa counties. those october fires killed 44 people. ( james ) a tire thief is on the loose in fremont. police say someone stole all

of the tires off three cars parked in the ardenwood neighborhood. officers responded to the area just after four tuesday morning after getting calls about a suspicious person. but when they arrived... the person was gone and tires were missing. police say so far... they haven't been able to find any surveillance video that can help them idenitify the thief. ( james ) hundreds of people in the east bay were forced to shelter in place after a hazardous chemical leaked from a rail car. pittsburg rail crews smelled an unknown substance yesterday afternoon. fire and hazmat crs were called to the area and found that a chemical was leaking. the contra costa fire department said it was sodium sulfide... which can be dangerous in large quantities. people within a quater of a mile were promted to shelter in place for over an hour. crews were able to repair a vaulve thought to be responsible for the leak. since the onset of the drought, more than 129 million trees have died in california. pg&e prunes and removes over a million trees every year to ensure that hazardous trees can't impact power lines. and since the onset of the drought we've doubled our efforts. i grew up in the forests out in this area and honestly it's heartbreaking to see all these trees dying. what guides me is ensuring that the public is going to be safer and that these forests can be sustained and enjoyed by the community in the future. ( james ) for the first time... driverless cars will be tested on california roads ... áwithoutá a person behind the wheel or in the car at all. before now ... autonomous vehicles could only be tested on california roadways with a safety driver in the car. now the dmv has approved self driving testing without anyone inside the car. its a major step toward getting fully autonomous cars on bay area streets ... and experts say during testng they will still have a safety driver ... just not in the car.

champions skipped the traditional white house visit yesterday just like they said they would. instead, they hung out with a group of local kids.. no press allowed but the players chronicled their field trip on social media. they went to the national museum of african american history and culture with students from kevin durant's hometown in maryland. the players said they wanted to celebrate equality, diversity and inclusion and kd says he hopes their up close and personal experience will inspire the kids to be whatever they want to be in life. steph says he wanted to give the kids some life lessons and some great memories. new this morning... a 10- thousand dollar reward is being offered for information about the recent charter bus vandalism. the vandals shot at the buses with b-b guns traveling on highways in the south bay and peninsula in january and february. the buses are used to take workers to tech companies like apple d google. the highway patrol is investigating seven ses of bus vadalism. ( james ) a man accused of shooting three people in the east bay is behind bars... and now facing attempted murder charges. jermaine hicks was arrested in atlanta. he is awaiting extradition to the bay area. the shooting was on market avenue in north richmond on january 22. police say an argument led to the shooting. ( james ) the men arrested for killing two people near daly city are expected to make

their first court appearance today. police say devin lum was the gunman. they also arrested guardado duff... he's accused of being an accessory. the shooting happened sunday night on hillside boulevard in broadmoor. the two people killed are identified as 21-year-old vanessa guillory and 22-year-old michael garcia- salem. a third victim was not seriously injured. ( darya ) there are new leads about "the orginal night stalker" ... a man who terrorized sacramento neighborhoods decades ago. police say the man killed a dozen people d raped victims during the mid 1970's. now investigators arliing the man to another crime spree in a rancho cordova neighborhood ... where there were some 30 cat burglaries in the early 1970's. that crime spree led to a sketch which bears similarities to sketches of the "night stalker."

( darya ) california fire chiefs are asking for more money to prepare for wildfires. they say reinforcements were too slow to arrive during last year's firestorms. they're asking state lawmakers for 100- million dollars to call in extra firefighters when weather conditions are ripe for a fire. the chiefs say the state's "mutual aid" system for sharing resources just can't keep up. santa rosa's fire chief said it took 12 to 24 hours before crews arrived from outside the area to help with the fires burning in somona and napa counties. those october fires killed 44 people. ( james ) a tire thief is on the loose in fremont. police say someone stole all of the tires off three cars parked in the ardenwood neighborhood. officers responded to the area just after four tuesday morning after getting calls about a suspicious person. but when they arrived... the person was gone and tires were missing. police say so far... they haven't been able to find any surveillance video that can help them idenitify the thief. ( james ) hundreds of people in the east bay were forced to shelter in place after a hazardous chemical leaked from a rail car. pittsburg rail crews smelled an unknown substance yesterday afternoon. fire and hazmat crews were called to the area and found that a chemical was leaking. the contra costa fire department said it was sodium sulfide... which can be dangerous in large quantities. people within a quater of a mile were promted to shelter in place for over an hour. crews were able to repair a vaulve thought to be responsible for the leak. has blocked the state from requiring that the popular weed-killer... roundup... carry warning labels that it is known to cause cancer. a u-s district court judgsaid in his ruling that the warning is false and misleading. he says almost all regulators agree that there is insufficient evidence that roundup's main ingredient causes cancer. last year, the main ingredient in the weed killer was added to a list of chemicals known to cause cancer.
