(steve) breaking news at 8. shell=shocked texas has been rocked by yet another blast today. the work of what police believe to be a serial bomber.(pam) the explosions have austin, texas, and nearby cities on edge tonight. this, on the same the day, authorities announced they are widening their investigation. kristen holmes joins us live in texas with the latest.- these bombings started march 2nd.-so far two people have been killed.. four others seriously injured.-the fbi and other federal agencies are on scene.-no arrests have been made..

bryan jaimes/ fedex worker: "i was like what if i loaded up that truck? i mean that... it really does kind of get you kind of scare a little bit." federal investigators are now callling it the work of a serial bomber. an explosion tuesday morning at a fedex facility in schertz, texas... about an hour outside of austin.michael hansen/ schertz chief of police: "one employee that was standing near the explosion later complained, complained of ringing in the ears... we were very fortunate that there were no injuries. two people have already been killed, several others injured in the previous attacks. the previous four package explosions all happened in the state capitol of austin. and it was there, that an additional suspiciouspackage, was found at another fedex facility tuesday, hours after the detonation in schertz. michael hansen/ schertz chief of police: "we're confident that neither this facility nor any location in the schertz area was a target."more than

350 special agents from the fbi, atf, and forensics investigators from quantico, virginia have descended upon the area, hoping to find those responsible, and put an end to the attacks.rep. mike mccaul/ -r- texas: "hopefully finger prints and surveillance photos, and we can finally take him down. this is terrorizing the city of austin right now."

((pam)) within the last hour.. texas attorney general ken paxton spoke live on a different network and said, law enforcement officials on the ground in austin tell him, the latest incident at the goodwill store is believed to be connected to the same bomber. so there is conflicting information tonight coming out of austin.. this is a story we will continue to follow tonight. but first let's check in with kron-4's charles clifford who joins us live from lafayette. charles what's it been like out there tonight? well, right now here in lafayette and the rain has let up for the moment, but it has been a wet day around the bay area. let's look at some video i shot earlier today. we start over along the pennissula. this was 280 around 230 in san bruno. just pouring rain. then along the embarcadero in san francisco, still pretty wet. here in the east bay, i stopped by sausal creek over in oakland. it runs parellel to park boulevard. the creek was running fast and muddy. nowhere near flooding but still quite a bit of flow. not to far away, i found some folks enjoying the break in the rain. one woman was out walking her dog, she said doesn't mind the wet weather. i think when it rains tomorrow it will get wetter. of course. but i like it. it's fun. alright, back live now, as we head into the evening hours we are still expecting rain to return withing the next few hours here in the east bay. in lafayette, charles clifford kron 4 news. reservoirs in the sierra and locally are now at 82% of capacity. had march been dry like previous months, things could have been different.sot my guess is if there was no precipitation in march the state would have leaned forward with calls for conservation and rationing and our board would entertain things of that nature.march storms has also improved storage in the south bay storage in the santa clara valley water district jumped from 26% of capacity to 33% of capacity and improvements are also evident with the sierra snowpack. on february 28th it was 20% of average.. .now it's grown to 47% of average and state water officials say it could grow over the 50% mark with this series of storms. 103/series of storms

(pam) the c=h=p says... it has made an arrest in one of the latest freeway shootings.. an 18 -year old man is charged with firing a pellet gun at another driver along interstate- 580 in san rafael, during the height of last night's commute. the highway patrol says, it was an apparent case of road rage.

(steve) in the east bay ... a message scribbled on a restroom wall brought police to hercules schools. both the middle and high school were put on what was called a soft lockdown. this over some graffiti in a restroom. but it's unclear which school it was found in. students were confined to classroom while police searched the campus for a little over an hour. coming up at eight.. tens of thousands of people under evacuation orders .... as a major storm barrels toward southern california. plus. a boy flies across the country to meet his idol ---golden state warrior star steph curry. and next. san francisco police say, car break-ins are down in the city. what they credit for a drop in the crime.

dropped by one=third in february .... compared to the month before. as we've reported, thefts from vehiles soared 24 percent last year. the s=f=p=d says the turnaround is the result of increased foot patrols. (pam) staying in the city... it was a terrifying crash... that injured five people... and could have been much worse. (steve) people living nearby...were jolted awake...the noise from the crash they say...was intense. grant lodes is here with the dramatic video...of an accident that could have been much worse. (grant) much worse because nobody died. you see what the jaws of life did to what the jaws of life did to this car... it happened in the western addition neighborhood around five-30 this morning. two vechiles were going down gough street in the western addition...when another car apparently ran a red light...and cut across bush and hit those two vechiles... causing one of them to slam into a pole and a

building.pole and a building. a man involved in the accident describes what happened. jim reed//involved in car crash: "yeah i was driving southbound on gough street and the light had just turned green and i just started through the intersection and a black car came flying through in front of me. it nipped the front of me. next thing i knew is i saw it push the silver car right into the pole." (grant) three vicitms are still in critical condition tonight while two are listed in stable condition. the intersection was closed for two hours while police investigated the cause of investigated the cause of the accident. (steve) thousands of people are under evacuation orders as a powerful storm approaches southern california. these are photos from santa barbara county where as many as 30-thousand people have been ordered to leave their communities. the storm could bring up to 10 inches in the foothills and mountains. that's a concern for people living in communities already hit hard

(jonathan) steph curry." seven-year-old jonathan page is just a day away from meeting his favorite athlete -- golden state warriors star stephen curry. who also happens to be from charlotte -- jonathan's hometown. jonathan page/7 years old- "(philippe) what do you like about steph curry? (jonathan) he plays basketball and shoots." five and a half years ago... jonathan was diagnosed with a rare metabolic disorder called methylmalonic acidemia. it prevents his body from properly digesting fats and proteins. it resulted in jonathan suffering a stroke and the deterioration of his motor functions.loree oliver/mother- "he also got diagnosed with hyper kenetic cerebral palsy. so, he has a lot of involuntary movements that he can't control." but that doesn't stop him from remaining active. he plays in a wheelchair basketball league at home. his mother loree oliver and the rest of his family have traveled with him on this trip. to share his wish to meet curry. a wish made possible by the non-profit organization "dream on three."mike dascal/dream on

officer is being praised .... for stopping a shooting at a high school in maryland tuesday.(steve)authorities say a 17-year-old student shot and wounded two other students before the officer engaged him. (pam) now investigators want to know what led to the shooting. from our partners at c-n-n.. brian todd reports. nat sound:it's believed to have lasted for less than a minutenat sound:a 17 year old student opened fire in the hallway of the school just before eight a-m.sheriff timothy cameron:"today at approximately 7:55am great mills high school student austin wyatt rollins- age 17- produced a handgun while in hallway f in great mills high school and shot a great mills high school student- a female, who was 16 and a great mills high school student, a male who was 14."authorities say austin rollins shot the female student before engaging in a round of gunfire with the school resource officer blaine gaskill. officials say it's not clear whether rollins was killed by gaskill's shot or if he committed suicide. sheriff

timothy cameron:"dfc blaine gaskill fired at the shooter, and what is described to me is almost simultaneously the shooter fired."the sheriff's office tells cnn that gaskill- a current swat officer- was just assigned to great mills high school last august. tonight, investigators are looking into the relationship between the shooter and the female victim as a possible motive- sheriff timothy cameron:"there is an indication that a prior relationship existed between the shooter and the female victim. we are working as we speak to determine if that was and if so the extent of that and if it was part of the motive for this shooting." toni foreman has lived across the street from austin rollins for years. he would often play sports with her son. brian todd:"no signs of any previous behavioral issue?"toni foreman: "nothing, great family, great kid, i just think it was a bad situation that he couldn't process."

(steve) a former neighbor of the florida high school shooter... is speaking out tonight about how she tried warning the police about nikolas cruz. rocxanne deschamps says just before nikolas cruz's mother... lynda cruz... died in november...des champs promised to take care of the 19-year-old. however... she says cruz has mental issues and obessiosns with weapons. deschamps begged cruz to get help...but he refused. her calls to police about suspect behavior resulted in no action. birth control pills are moving closer to becoming a reality... that's according to researchers today...(steve) the results of the study were presented at the annual endocrine society meeting in chicago. researchers said a proposed hormone pill could reduce testosterone and other hormone levels responsible for sperm production without causing any serious side effects. a safe and effective male birth control bill has been a longtime goal in medicine. but for decades, such pills have been exclusively used by

women. researchers said the sample size for this study was small, so there would need to more research to assess any potential side effects. something all moms will relate to. a recent study found the average mom clocks 98- hours a week, making it equal to working 2.5 full-time jobs. (pam) the survey of 2,000 american mothers... found, on average, their days start at 6:23 a.m. and do not stop until 8:31 p.m. that's a 14-hour day, 7- days a week. researchers say, moms only got one hour and seven minutes of "me time". of the mom's surveyed -- they said, wine, babysitters and drive-thru snacks are things to get them through their long days. so there you have it. being a mom is literally more than a full-time job. (grant) the first day of spring felt a lot like winter...bringing another round of wet weather across the bay area... we saw on and off showers...even some pockets of heavy rain... and it's not over yet.... (grant) thanks for joining us, i'm grant lodes...(vicki) and i'm vicki liviakis...

another, bigger storm is headed our way... chief meteorologist lawrence karnow is timing out the rain.... lawrence how will it be for the morning commute? lawrence karnow: the rain was on and off again and heavy at times. there are still showers showing up on doppler. we can expect showers tonight and it will be heavy at times. also the winds will get blustery as these storms move through. rainfall amounts will be high over the next couple of days. we could see 3 to 5 inches of rain in the santa cruz mountains, and 1 to 3 inches across parts of the rest of the bay area. on the satellite you can see the storm bringing heavy rain in southern california. flash flooding is likely in southern california over the next couple days. tomorrow will start with rain then turn to showers. highs will be mild in the low upper 60s. rain will become heavy late wednesday night into early thursday morning. there is a possibility of some minor flooding during this time. theris
