(steve) and im steve aveson. police arrested the teacher today after an on-line undercover investigation. kron 4's justine waldman reports from vallejo on the accusations and the outrage. sot it is awful i feel like i need a safer school for my childrenparents at vallejo's glen cove elementary school learned police arrested a teacher on thursday from a letter sent out by the superintendent.nat reading letter we were told the allegations involve inappropriate conduct with a minorkron 4 has confirmed under arrest is andrew lund. here is his photo from school's website, he is in charge of coordinating with teachers on curriculum. the district attorney says he was arrested for two felonies.. suspicion of attempting to send harmful material to a

(pam) in national news: alabama executes the oldest inmate in modern history. the man convicted in the 19-89 mail bombing death of a federal judge in alabama, has been put to death. authorities say, 83-year-old walter moody was executed by lethal injection thursday night.

the execution was delayed two- hours after the u-s supreme court issued a temporary stay, but that was later lifted. moody mailed a pipe bomb to the birmingham- area home of federal appeals judge robert vance in 19-89, killing him. moody was convicted in both federal and state court in vance's death. he also killed a georgia attorney with a pipe bomb.

coming to drivers who use interstate 680. the sunol grade is among the worst commutes in the bay area. but as kron four's philippe djegal reports... a new express lane is expected to improve drive times. (philippe) the constant congestion along northbound i- 680 in alameda county, for years... has been a point of contention for drivers. and, now help is finally on the way.richard valle/actc- "this is gonna reduce your commute time, it's gonna get you to work, uh quickly." much like the express lane added to the southbound side of the sunol grade back in 20-10... alameda county tranportation commission executive director art dao (dow) says when the new lane is added to the northbound side... commutes will move faster, compared to what it's like now.art dao/actc- "you're inching along at 10, 15 miles per hour. once this process is complete in 2 years people will see -- should be able to travel 55 to 60 miles per hour." caltrans and the

san francisco that means thousands of people will descend oto golden gate park. kron 4's charles clifford is live for us tonight at golden gate park with details and reaction from neighbors. charles. . . organizers say that as many as 15 thousand people could attend.this year, like last year, the city is helping organize the event. local merchants have also raised about 200 thousand dollars to hire security, put a fence around hippie hill here and help coordinate traffic around the event. now,one of the downsides of this event is that it creates an incredible amount of trash not only at the event, but as people move in and out of the area. i spoke with several neighbors who have seen this event grow over the years. no one cares if people smoke pot, but everyone asked that party goers pick up their trash.

karnow has the weather details lawrence karnow: there was plenty of sunshine today but the winds were gusty near the coast. tonight will be nice and clear and the winds will be breezy but decrease thoughout the night. you can see on doppler the snow showers over the sierra but the bay area is clear. on the satellite you can see the storm clouds moving east and high pressure is beginning to build toward the state. temperatures will continue to warm on friday with highs soaring into the 70s inland, 60s and 70s around the bay and 50s and 60s at the coast. it will be even warmer this weekend with some highs hitting the 80s. the warm weather will continue into monday but a few more clouds will return on tuesday with some cooler temperatures. right now it looks dry for the next 7 days too.

(steve) today a well-known homeless encampment in santa rosa has been evacuated. (steve) the encampment known as rememberance village behind the dollar tree store on sebastopol road saw it's last day. the encampment has been there for at least two years and has catered anywhere between 75 and 130 people. city officials say they are working on getting

(steve) city council members with santa rosa say a new affordable housing unit will be built where the encampment stood. they also say the 175 unit structure should help those who are in a housing crisis. who was on southwest flight 1380 and helped pull one of his fellow passengers back inside the plane.when their left engine broke mid-air, an object burst through a window and sucked jennifer riordan toward the hole where the window used to be. she later died. andrew needum / firefighter who tried to save southwest flight 1380 victim: i feel for her family, i feel for her two kids, her husband, the community that she lived in.and as the healing process continues, so too does the investigation into what exactly happened. the national transportation safety board says a preliminary look at the engine shows one of its 24 fan blades was missing, that there was evidence of metal fatigue where the blade attached to the engine hub, and a separate fracture further down that same blade. robert sumwalt / ntsb chairman: it appears the

fatigue fracture was the initiating event, which later caused that secondary failure. the federal aviation administration says they will be issuing a directive that will include the specific engine model affected in this flight requiring an "ultrasonic inspection of fan blades when they reach a certain number of takeoffs any blades that fail the inspection will have to be replaced."ntsb investigators are still tracking down evidence from the plane and will examine all of the engine and blade components at the materials lab in washington d.c. in washington, i'm omar jimenez. (steve) new surveillance video shows a suspect stealing a trailer in a parking lot in sacramento county. this is video of the scene. police say it happened around three this morning. investigators say the truck belonged to the organization california future farmers of america. besides stealing the truck, the suspect walked away with eight-thousand disneyland tickets. a spokesperson with the f-f-a says the suspect knew what he or she was doing. (pam) a south bay city is considering whether park rangers should carry guns. some, but not all rangers, have been tasked with patroling waterways like the guadalupe river and coyote creek in san jose. both waterways border city park land. there have recently been a handful of incidents, where rangers have had to interact with people who are homeless... and what some describe as a "criminal element"... to the point where they do not feel safe. (steve)police in florida are investigating a violent altercation that happened outside a k-f-c in saint augustine this week.cell phone video of the incident was posted to facebook.it shows a group of people fighting in the restaurant's parking lot. (steve)an employee who tried to break up the fight was also attacked.john bachman reports. natsot: "ooh listen you need to chill the out."fists were flying outside the k-f-c on u-s 1 in st. augustine tuesday evening.natsot: "hey listen! don't play with him!"at one point the restaurant manager got slapped as she tried to run off this violent group of young men.investigators say there is no apparent reason for this attack.natsot: "they're literally insane." this woman didn't want us to identify her... because she says she is sure the attackers in this video are the same young men who jumped her and her pregnant friend less than two weeks ago in flagler county.victim: "it's scary.

arrangements store in utah closed after the health department reported one of its employees was diagnosed with hepatitis a.(pam) a customer told the employee, she might have hepatitis- a... after noticing her eye was yellow last month. yet, that employee continued to work at the store for two weeks after the conversation.. . the medical director of the salt lake county health department says, all products from the store are possibly contaminated. dr. dagmar vitek / salt lake county health department: "we know the store sold over 600 orders during that period of time so that doesn't mean the individuals because we buy these edible arrangements usually as a gift or bring it to a party so probably the number of people who were exposed is much higher than the 600." customers were considerably angry because the store is angry because the store is not cheap. arrangements can range from 25- dollars... to hundreds of dollars. the company has more than 20- locations in the bay area. perfect world . that being said , drivers were tested in morgan hill so what happens is the cones are set up because this is 35 miles per hour zone so that the distance it should take .it was pass of fail .. if you followed state law and yielded to the person in the crosswalk you were allowed to pass . however he's not going to stop he didn't stop if you fail you get to have a chat with an officer participating in this enforcement event, in this case it's an officer from lapd the reason i pulled you over because of the pedestrian violation now you saw what happened.. but let's hear the drivers side did you see the pedestrian (yes i did) and what happened? (i saw him stop so i thought if he stopped i should go)over in downtown morgan hill the same test was being administered at an intersection so notorious people crossing wave flags when crossing some people passed and some people sound of trafficfailed so a chat with a gilroy police officer is mandatory (what i do) did you see the pedestrian crossing in the crosswalkthe driver said noyes he was all the way across the number two lane when you went through the crosswalkmy turn did you not see the pedestrian in the crosswalk i guess i didn't .. i was seeing cops on both

high pressure is beginning to build toward the state. temperatures will continue to warm on friday with highs soaring into the 70s inland, 60s and 70s around the bay and 50s and 60s at the coast. it will be even warmer this weekend with some highs hitting the 80s. the warm weather will continue into monday but a few more clouds will return on tuesday with some cooler temperatures. right now it looks dry for the next 7 days too.
