( marty ) by area real estate prices are continuing to hit new record highs. kron 4's maureen kelly reports from san mateo, where one house sold for more than two -million dollars, and then was immediately torn down. here's the photo showing the house on west 3rd avenue....according to

realtor-dot-com it sold in march for just over 2-point- one million.turns out the new owner didn't want it. this is what he really wanted.....the dirt.all 84-hundred square feet of it. the structure was demolished before escrow closed.this bare lot sits in a picturesque suburban community.....still neighbors are a bit dumbfounded by how much a vacant piece of land just sold for. prices of escalated so quickly in the neighborhood. we really didn't know where it would settle but we were extremely surprised that this raw land for with over 8000 ft.2 we go for over $2 million that's a tremendously high priceanna kuhre (cure) says she is gratified for what these means for her home's value.....and says the driver in sale....and many others in the area....is tech.where crossbow city. we have these three freeways that interject here everybody's trying to get to silicon valley and this is the way to go. we have a lot of traffic because of it for sure that people need to live and the demand is so high which is obviously reflected in these prices i think this market is insanemaureen mclean is a real estate broker based out of san mateo. she says another thing driving these

( marty ) a big story out of the east bay, the secret service helped arrest a student, accused of hacking into ygnacio valley high school records and changing grades. he reportedly changed his own grades... and those of his classmate's too. police think he sent an e- mail to a teacher in the mount diablo school district. the teacher opened the "phishing e-mail" which released her credentials to the hacker. police say it appears the hacker changed grades for several students. an electronic detection k-9 helped locate a hidden s-d card in a tissue box that led to the arrest. ( marty ) also in the east bay-- a judge has denied a

motion to dismiss all 36 counts of involuntary manslaughter against derick almena and max harris. lawyers for the ghost ship master tenant and the creative director say they were given the impression there weren't any safety concerns at the warehouse. about 25 people lived there-- even though it didn't have a permit for residential use. almena and harris both remain in jail. the judge is expected to rule on their request to be released from custody while wearing a ankle monitor. each faces 39-years in prison if convicted. 36 people were killed when the warehouse burned in december of 20-16. their trial is scheduled to begin in july. ( marty ) in san francisco ... a start-up, which provides at-home veterinarian visits wants to help keep our furry friends healthy. the company wants to bring the vet to affordable housing developments.kron 4's justine waldman has the story. flea season is about to start. and before it gets bad, fuzzy,

( marty ) officials are warning residents of puna on hawaii's big island to be ready to evacuate at a moment's notice if volcanic activity near them worsens. the national guard is making emergency preparations complete with air support if a

big eruption happens. mahealani richardson reports on the preparations for the worst. it's a look inside the emergency operation center near the hilo airport. several soldiers are planning evacuation operations and part of what's called a battle rhythm or schedule. they are planning for worst case scenario, which would be a violent steam induced explosion at halemaumau crater. and the outbreaks of lava that sever communities where troops would be deployed by air and on the ground. lt. col. shawn tsuha/hawaii national guard "these are areas where the helicopters can't land for whatever reason. that's very restricted, but we understand if someone is in an area where we can't land and they need help, we're going to have to hoist them out."for one guardsman, the mission for a mass evacuation hits close to home since he grew up in upper puna and still lives there today. senior master sgt. makani miller/hawaii national guard"it definitely hits close to home. it's nice to be part

(philippe)nats- "alright kids." seven years in this home...nats- "nothing more." and, now it's time to go. jeffrey koening/tenant- "it started out fine and they've deteriorated ever since." 50-year-old disabled grandfather jeffery koenig (co-nig) is refering to the

condition of this house he's rented in south san jose. the one from which he's now being evicted. he lives here with two of his daughter's and a five-year-old grandson.jeffery koeing/tenant- 'the property owner doesn't do anything to for upkeep." koenig is on section eight... the federal government's largest program for assisting low- income families, elderly and the disabled afford safe and clean housing.jeffery koening/tenant- "everytime something happens in this house, i'm blamed and we get threatened for eviction." the santa clara county housing authority administers the section eight program in san jose. this house rents for 38-hundred-dollars a month. jeffery only contributes 500. the rest is paid out by the housing authority directly to the landlord -- making up the difference. but the program requires the housing authority to make annual inspections to ensure the home is up to code. if not, then either the landlord, tenant or both could be removed from the section eight program.jeffery koenig- "they failed three inspections, three different times. so, that's nine inspections total that they've failed." on

april fourth... the housing authority notified jeffrey that their most recent inspection revealed electrical and general health and safety violations. and, that the property owner is being held responsible.nats- "all this termite damage." the home is breaking down inside and out.jeffery koening/tenant- "oh, i shouldn't be touching this, but this is the black, some of the black mold that was left here from uh, black mold up here." the mold has affected jeffery's breathing.nats- he's been routinely hospitalized, suffering from hypersensativity pneumonitis (new-man-eye-tiss)... emphysema and c-o-p-d. and, he's still dealing with the physical pain that landed him on section eight in the first place.jeffery koening/tenant- "i went through the windshield of a big rig in 96. i was in a coma for six and a half weeks. i was in a hospital four and a half months. i had 24 surgeries. i'm disabled -- i'm not a low life." g-d properties in milpitas is listed as the property owner. they did not respond to our requests for a comment on this story. they were given 30 days by the housing authority

to make the necessary repairs to the house... but did not comply. jeffery and his family were forced to move out this week.nats- it appears g- d properties may not be allowed to house another section eight tenant here. but fortunately jeffery was able to find a new home this week and is moving in... his section eight voucher transfers to the new place because he isn't being blamed for the home damage. one challenge conquered -- though many more may lie ahead. in san jose, philippe djegal, kron four news. ( marty ) in the south bay... police are searching for a gunman who shot a man in the face in sunnyvale. officers found the victim at a 7-eleven near spinosa and torrington drive on friday morning. officers discovered that the man ran to the store for help. neighbors told police the shooting victim was banging on doors looking for help... but no one answered. police have not released any details about the shooter. ( marty ) in southern california, a 14-year-old boy is in jail for shooting a

classmate at his high school. it happened friday morning in palmdale--- north of los angeles. police say, the boy shot a 15-year-old in the arm. they say, he then left the school-- and dumped the gun in the desert. he was eventually arrested at a nearby shopping center. several schools in the area were briefly placed on lockdown. police say, the boy called his dad right after the shooting. coming up on the kron 4 morning news... bay area dispensary owners say that their taxes are so high... it's drving their customers away! and it's so bad... people are turning to the marijuana black market. monday through friday its carpool ramp you have to have 3 or more in the vehicle to use this ramp now there's no shortage of signs advising drivers it's a carpool ramp including a lighted sign you must have three passenger with the exception of motorcycle riders and trucks with 6 or more wheels also it you have a clean air sticker you can drive as a solo occupant but you must have the right stickers i've always taken the carpool lane because i have a carpool sticker it the yellow sticker so but it expired. i bought this car used and when the guy i asked him about that he said it was still good get right behind that car up there this driver drove up alone.. have you ever had a license? ( marty ) the fire department suspects dry rot is the cause of a deck collapse in the backyard of an oakland home. the collaspe sent two women to the hospital.kron 4's ella sogomonian is in oakland with the story. this wooden deck detached from the second floor of a two story home in oakland sometime before 3 friday afternoon. the fire department reports two women fell twenty feet down and were rushed to highland hospital.one hit her head, the other hurt her hip and back. neighbors near morcom and kingsland avenues were stunned by news of the accident.sot:

follows a recent incident in philadelphia... where two african-american men were arrested at starbucks. they asked to use the bathroom, but were turned away because they weren't paying customers. they then sat at a table to wait for an appointment. the starbucks manager called police... who arrested them for trespassing. starbucks and the city apologized to both men. grades. he reportedly changed his own grades... and those of his classmate's too. police think he sent an e- mail to a teacher in the mount diablo school district. the teacher opened the "phishing e-mail" which released her credentials to the hacker. police say it appears the hacker changed grades for several students. an electronic detection k-9 helped locate a hidden s-d card in a tissue box that led to the arrest. ( marty ) also in the east bay-- a judge has denied a motion to dismiss all 36 counts of involuntary manslaughter against derick almena and max harris. lawyers for the ghost ship master tenant and the creative director say they were given the impression there weren't any safety concerns at the warehouse. about 25 people lived there-- even though it didn't have a permit for residential use. almena and harris both remain in jail. the judge is expected to rule on their request to be released from custody while wearing a ankle monitor. each faces 39-years in prison if convicted. 36 people

from san mateo, where one house sold for more than two -million dollars, and then was immediately torn down. here's the photo showing the house on west 3rd avenue....according to realtor-dot-com it sold in march for just over 2-point- one million.turns out the new owner didn't want it. this is what he really wanted.....the dirt.all 84-hundred square feet of it. the structure was demolished before escrow closed.this bare lot sits in a picturesque suburban community.....still neighbors are a bit dumbfounded by how much a vacant piece of land just sold for. prices of escalated so quickly in the neighborhood. we really didn't know where it would settle but we were extremely surprised that this raw land for with over 8000 ft.2 we go for over $2 million that's a tremendously high priceanna kuhre (cure) says she is gratified for what these means for her home's value.....and says the driver in sale....and many others in the area....is tech.where crossbow city. we have these three freeways that interject here everybody's trying to get to silicon valley and this is the way to

go. we have a lot of traffic because of it for sure that people need to live and the demand is so high which is obviously reflected in these prices i think this market is insanemaureen mclean is a real estate broker based out of san mateo. she says another thing driving these prices....the lack of inventory....meaning they aren't very many homes for sale....which drives up prices. there's 13 houses on in san bruno, or sell city the same. san mateo has 50 but san mateo is a big city i so it should have more than that. we get more than 50 people at an open house and we've only got 50 houses on so it's bad"maureen kelly kron4 news. ( marty ) also in the east bay-- a judge has denied a motion to dismiss all 36 counts of involuntary manslaughter against derick almena and max harris. lawyers for the ghost ship master tenant and the creative director say they were given the impression there weren't any safety concerns at the warehouse. about 25 people lived there-- even though it didn't have a permit for residential use.

almena and harris both remain in jail. the judge is expected to rule on their request to be released from custody while wearing a ankle monitor. each faces 39-years in prison if convicted. 36 people were killed when the warehouse burned in december of 20-16. their trial is scheduled to begin in ( marty ) in san francisco ... a start-up, which provides at-home veterinarian visits wants to help keep our furry friends healthy. the company wants to bring the vet to affordable housing developments.kron 4's justine waldman has the story. flea season is about to start. and before it gets bad, fuzzy, thesubscription-based pet healthcare company, came to visit dogs and cats who live inhousing developments.. sot it is an opportunity for them to for many people who have never been to the vet these pictures from friday's event show many furry friends came in for treatment,the vets set up an office at robert b. pitts building in the western addition and gave free vaccination and tests. increasing access to pet healthcare is one fuzzy's mission statements. sot not only are we providing care for

owner doesn't do anything to for upkeep." koenig is on section eight... the federal government's largest program for assisting low- income families, elderly and the disabled afford safe and clean housing.jeffery koening/tenant- "everytime something happens in this house, i'm blamed and we get threatened for eviction." the santa clara county housing authority administers the section eight program in san jose. this house rents for 38-hundred-dollars a month. jeffery only contributes 500. the rest is paid out by the housing authority directly to the landlord -- making up the difference. but the program requires the housing authority to make annual inspections to ensure the home is up to code. if not, then either the landlord, tenant or both could be removed from the section eight program.jeffery koenig- "they failed three inspections, three different times. so, that's nine inspections total that they've failed." on april fourth... the housing authority notified jeffrey that their most recent inspection revealed electrical and general health and safety violations. and, that the property owner is being held
