scorching temperatures...likely to blame for sparking this brush fire that forced the evacuation of a bay area neighborhood. tonight that fire is out...but not before damaging at least one home.((ken))thanks for joining us tonight...i'm ken wayne.((pam)) and i'm pam moore.some sections of the bay area saw temperatures in the triple digits..nd that kept fire crews busy today.((dbl bx)) kron 4's ella sogomonian is live in pinole.. where a brush fire came dangerously close to several homes and was just extinguished.ella? live the pinole fire chief said dry grass and vegetation caught fire somewhere near the bottom of this slope then spread upward where it reached the attic of a home in neighborhood on greenfield circle. vo the fire erupted just after 4 and spread to half an acre.at least four homes were evacuated.fire fighters knocked down the flames within fifteen minutes
but it took an hour to make sure there were no hot spots. vigilant neighbors made the call just in time after they smelled smoke. some were at work wondering if their homes were threatened. luckily the fire was contained to that one house the damage is still being accessed but it seems pretty minimal.the woman inside got out safely with her dog. the battalion chief says the weather makes this area more vulnerable. sot: battalion chief chris wynkoop, pinole fire department// "its absolutely essential that people are aware that once again its getting warmer its getting dryer that these grass fuels are really ready to ignite so everybody be mindful of fire safety."it was around sot: battalion chief chris wynkoop, pinole fire department// "its absolutely essential that people are aware that once again its getting warmer its getting

((ken/cross shot))the temperatures are still pretty hot in some parts of the bay area...our chief meteorlogist lawrence karnow is here to tell us what we can expect for the rest of the night. lawrence karnow: it was hot for much of the bay area away from the coast. temperatures soared into the 90s inland today with cooler 60s at the coast. the sea breeze has been blowing and we could see a few patches of fog at the coast tonight. on the satellite you can see high pressure across california. the strong ridge will bring hot weather again nland tomorrow but some cool fog near the coast will keep temperatures as much as 30 degrees cooler. highs will be in the low to mid 90s inland with 70s and 80s around the bay with patchy fog along the coast. high pressure will continue to slowly weaken over the next few days allowing for more fog and cooler temperatures to creep back in toward the end of the week. the coolest day of the week will likely be saturday before warming on sunday and into next week.

(grant) the c-h-p the c-h-p says tonight... doctor lyudmila beyzer was killed yesterday morning when a tree along 680 in danville up-rooted...and fell directly on her car...killing her. it had been unclear if she drove into the tree. regardless...it's a chilling tragedy...that tree...said to be 50 to 60 feet in length. doctor beyzer was driving north on 680 in danville around 9:00 yesterday morning when the accident occurred. the 58-year-old had worked at john muir health for more than a decade. the hospital releasing a statement today: "we are deeply saddened to hear about the sudden and tragic passing of dr. lyudmila beyzer. she was a member of the john muir health physician network for 15 years and will be greatly missed. our
thoughts are with her family, friends, patients, colleagues and staff at this very difficult time." (pam) exactly one week after primary election day .... the san francisco board of elections is still tabulating votes for the city's next mayor. the ranked choice voting system takes longer to tally. as the days go by, we are getting closer to hearing who will lead the citty.(ken)and the race is still within a percentage point...((dbl bx))kron 4's ali reid joins us live from city hall tonight ... is it still too close to call? the same way supervisor london breed took the lead over the weekend, is the same way senator mark leno can come back.pkgvotes continue to be counted ... we're feeling really hopeful.the gap is widening. supervisor london breed maintains the lead for mayor by just over 1800 votesi think this is a really good day for us, but there's still so many votes to count and statistically we can't say one way or the other who the winner will bethere's a system and everything here is done strategically. election
personnel added provional ballots to the mix today ... and got through half of them. in addition to all the other votes, supervisor london breed now has a total of 111-446, at 50-point-42 percent. and senator mark leno is right behind at 109-585 ... 49-point- 58 percent.and then there are still some that need manual review. so we've got through friday to get through the provisional ballot cards. some cards require a second or third run throughbreed's camp tells me, the supervisor is optimistic yet level headed. tara moriarty / london breed campaign spokeswomanshe's maintained a really clear frame of mind and has said what's meant to be will be senator leno is still out of town. in the meantime, his campaign spokesperson says there's no backing down now. zoe kleinfeld / mark leno campaign spokespersonwe're emboldened by the fact that there was such a strong voter turnout and such strong support in the city and for people that are looking for a new direction in city hall standupelectronic counting should be done by friday, so technically we may be able to assume a winner by then.but officially, the board of

new tonight at eight ... we now know the name of the woman killed in a bizarre kidnapping and crash over the weekend. 40- year-old daphne bailey died, when the car she was riding in ... burst into flames following a police chase in emeryville. san francisco police said, bailey and a male suspect assaulted a woman in the city's tenderloin district sunday... and then kidnapped her. the woman managed to escape unharmed. police say, the male suspect and bailey drove onto the bay bridge toward oakland, and collided with another vehicle in emeryville. bailey died at the
scene. the male suspect who was driving the car, suffered major injuries and is still in the hospital. ((pam)) could a dusty, country two- track road... lead police to the bodies of missing northern californai students? in pinole... damaging at least one home...(grant) kron 4's ella sogomonian reports from pinole. the pinole fire chief said dry grass and vegetation caught fire somewhere near the bottom of this slope then spread upward where it reached the attic of a home in neighborhood on greenfield circle. the fire erupted just after 4 in the afternoon and spread to half an acre.at least four homes were evacuated.fire fighters knocked down the flames within fifteen minutes but it took an hour to make sure there were no hot spots.vigilant neighbors made the call just in time after they smelled smoke. some were at work wondering if their homes were threatened. luckily the fire was contained to that one house the damage is still being accessed but it seems pretty minimal.the woman inside got out safely with her dog. sot: battalion chief chris wynkoop, pinole fire department// "our first priority was life safety and structure protection. so we addressed that issue then other units came out to address the vegetation fire as well."the battalion chief says that
