you can see the aftermath of a house fire... the entire side of the home is now exposed.all the windows are broken out and there is debris all around the house.it nearly burned down after a fire erupted just after one this morning. witnesses say before they saw flames on this property they heard and saw fireworks.we're hearing the cause has been deemed suspicious - are still working to confirm this with officials.in terms of the homeowners we're also still waiting to find out if anyone was home when it caught fire or if the property is abandoned.stay tuned to kron 4 morning news as we learn more. in walnut creek - sara stinson - kron 4 news.###

graton on june 14th... and 13- small fires along the santa rosa creek trail near dutton avenue on june 16th. ( darya ) relatives of ghost ship fire victims are filing new lawsuits. they claim others... beyond the two men convicted in the case... are also for the deaths of 36 people. the families are suing the city of oakland, the city of are suing the the families are suing the city of oakland, the building's owner and p-g-and-e. they claim there were issues with building inspections and maintenance. earlier this week... derick almena and max harris... pleaded no contest to 36 counts of involuntary manslaughter. almena could be sentenced to nine years in prison .. while harris faces six years. some believe the plea agreements were not tough enough. ( darya ) police in san francisco arrest a man carrying this gun into the civic center bart station. police say the gun was loaded

( darya ) in the east bay.... animal activists crashed a free block party in oakland as people were celebrating the fourth of july. about 60 protesters showed up woth fake butcher knives and fake blood spattered on their shirts... they call bar-b-qing 'violence against animals.' but that didn't stop the thousands of people who came out to enjoy the festivites. local merchants took advantage of the heavy foot taffic interested in buying goods.

( james ) a developing story we are following this morning... the growing urgency to rescue a dozen boys and their soccer coach from a flooded cave in thailand.( darya ) david mckenzie is in thailand this mornign with the very latest on the rescue efforts. david mckenzie: "these 12 young boys are trapped in this cave up the mountain behind me, they've blocked it off so that only official rescue teams can get in. all day they've been sending in the rescue dive teams, supplies,

even just trying to get a phone line to those boys so they can talk to their anguished parents has proved a challenge. now it's a race against time, say officials. they have sent 20 to 30 teams onto the surface of the mountain to look if there are any air vents or chimneys that could potentially widen and to get directly to the boys and hold them up that way. but at this stage the best option for these missing children is to get them up possibly using a full face mask accompanied by navy seal teams and it could take hours from them get from where they are huddled in the dark to the main staging ground of this operation under the ground. thai officials say that the rain could come and could come in a very big way in coming days. they are pumping out more than a million litres an hour to try and lessen the levels of water so possibly they can wade out some of the water. that initial hope when they found this more than the life has turned to resilience and despair that they'll need to get them soon out for this all to go smoothly and for the kids to see their families again. david mckenzie near chiang mai in thailand." ( darya ) a stockton family says there is a hidden danger in the delta ... after a day of fun turned to tragedy on the water. the family says their father ... carlos tovar ... was killed after getting sucked into an irrigation pipe. the family attorney says carlos was untangling a ski line when he was sucked under. investigators say the pipe was used to pump water to crops. the tovar's can't understand why there's no protection around the those pipes. ( darya ) with thousands more expected on the waterway this week -- deputies

say boaters need to be aware of all the underlying dangers ... including those pipes. ( james ) another big story we are filing... the u-s tariffs on 34 billion dollars worth of chinese imports is set to go into effect at midnight tonight. china has said it retaliate as soon as those tariffs are implimented. those chinese tariffs will target american made cars... meat and agriculture. president trump has threatened even more tariffs against china if they retaliate. this all comes as the trump administration is also in a trade fight with canada and the european union. ( james ) happening right now... there is a nationwide manhunt for three people accused of kidnapping and raping two sisters in ohio. the victims were just 13 and 14 years old. none of the suspects are u-s citizens and police are not sure of their real names because their documentation is fake. police say they could be anywhere in the country. the attack happened at a hotel

( darya ) 12-year-old paris hall was alseep in her room when the light in her room turned on and she found a man trying to take her t-v. hall says she was confused because the man tried ot tell her he knew the family. she says she told him to leave and he went to the back door. when hall tried to run to her neighbors house the man was standing outside waiting for her so she ran back inside to the kitchen and grabbed a knife. (lydia) they are holding what is being called a 'block ice' block party. organizers are calling it a celebration of resistance.. as many people camped out in front of the ice headquarters. protesters are calling for the end of the immigration and customs enforcement agency. they say ice was created in 2003 as a way of oppressing people of color.. adding that after 9/11 muslims were the target of the agency. and now they see migrant detentions as another form of the agency's abuse. < we are commemorating the indigenous communities that have been destroyed and subjected to genocide in that process, the african people that were extracted from the continent and enslaved. all of the immigrant communities that

( james ) one woman took her protest against ice to the base of the statue of liberty. she was up there for about 4 hours. while she was there... authorities had to evacuate the landmark. police used a harness and ropes to bring her down. the woman faces charges of trespassing... disorderly conduct... and interfering with government functions. of health and human services says it may be able to reunite immigrant children with their parents faster... if lawmakers stop visiting detention facilities. the agency claims officials have spent 500 hours on congressional visits... instead of helping kids in custody. but lawmakers -- including house minority leader nancy pelosi -- say congressional oversight is critical. her office says there is no evidence that the trump administration has a plan to reunite children with their parents. ( darya ) palo alto police are searching for a burglar who shoved a woman after she returned home and found him inside her apartment. it happened on the 300 block of curtner avenue. the

woman returned home to find her door unlocked and lights on... while trying to run away.. the thief pushed the woman into a wall. police say he stole jewelry and money from the home. ( darya ) in the east bay... a burglary suspect tries to sell his victim cocaine. the victim called police after he found a stranger in his home.. in the 2700 block of durant avenue in berkeley. he said the burglar claimed he was trying to find a different address and then offered to sell the victim cocaine. officers found the suspect in the area of bancroft way and telegraph aveune. jahcoby adams-mabin was arrested. ( darya ) a man is behind bars -- accused of stabbing someone near a police station in berkeley. this is an update to a story we first brought to you back in april. the 20-year-old victim was stabbed in the chest after stopping by the police station to get his towed car back. berkeley police arrested 19-

( james ) in the south bay.... police are looking for one of three people accused of stealing 10- thousand dollars in bitcoin currency. police say three people stole a computer from a home on fourth street with ten thousand dollars worth of the cryptocurreny. santa clara police have identified two suspects as 18 year old yessica barajas and 24 yaer old welbar quintanilla, both of san jose. deputies have not been able to locate the third person or the missing computer. ( james ) the 4th of july holiday may be over but the c-h-p will be cracking down on drunk driving through the weekend. kron 4 rode along with the c-h-p yesterday. all 9 chp divisions in the bay area are conducting maximum enforcement for the holiday week. they say the have made several arrests already. the maximum enforcement period will end on sunday. ( james ) families impacted by the october firestorm in the north bay.. are getting 150-thousand dollars through grants for childcare providers. the

redwood credit union, the santa rosa press democrat and state sentor mike mcguire created the "north bay fire relief fund" to help fire victims. ( darya ) the breathmobile clinic will be making a stop in pittsburg today. the mobile pediatric asthma clinic will run from 8:30 to 3 this afternoon at parkside elementary school. it will be the first stop on the breathmobile's tour of east contra costa county. it will visit schools and community centers in concord and martinez as well as pittsburg. they will see children ages three months to 19 years. ( darya ) two california schools are once again ranked among the best in the world. stanford came in at number 2. and cal tech in pasadena took the number 4 spot. that's according to the "q-s world university" rankings... which rates a thousand schools across the globe. in case you're wondering... m-i-t is number one. it's held the top spot for 7 straight years. the report looks at things like academic reputation and the faculty-student ratio..

( darya ) i want to give you the latest on the boys soccer team trapped in an underground network of flooded out caves in thailand.. theres' more rain coming this weekend so they're racing against time to rescue the 12 boys and their coach who've been standed since june 23rd.. when they went out exploring after a soccer game and a monsoon started. the newest video we have shows them smiling which is good.. and in surprisingly good health actually for being in darkness with no food for 10 days til they were found. they've been getting nourishment and

training on how to scuba dive cuz the plan is to lead them out.. maybe even have to do it before they're fully ready because big rains are supposed to start again on saturday. in the meantime... they're also continuing to pump water out of the caves.. cuz the area where they are is a little shelf and there's water up to the ceiling in the caves around them. these kids are 11-16, they're coach is only 25 years old.. none of them knows how to swim.. they're just a bunch of soccer players.. they're all asking the rescuers about the world cup... can you imagine how your kids would do in this?? to keep their sense of humor and composure and be strong in this situation.. they may have to stay there til october... his montana property... i guess that's just a regular day.. brady didn't seem alarmed at all.. he was sort of amused and excited. it's all fun and games til somebody gets hurt.. i bet they don't have bear encounters in those contract.. maybe safaris are against the rules??? or swimming with dolphins.. i bet that's ok. ( darya ) speaking of danger.. i didn't realize my feet were in peril when i got a fish pedicure.. you know what those are??? i didn't when i went to venice italy.. and we passed this place.. you put your feet in a spa and they pour in these tiny fish that gently nibble at your toes.. those are my feet in there. the fish eat plants.. but also they'll leat dead skin so it makes your feet nice and soft. it tickled a little and it was weird but i didn't know it was

dangerous. there's a new case of a woman who got a fish pedicure.. and 6 months later her toenails stopped growing and started falling off! and they say it has to be because of the fish... that they tramatized the nail matrix. only after hearing about this.. did i read up a bit and find out that 10 states including california.. banned fish manicures years ago because they can transmit bacteria and you could get an infection. manhunt for three people accused of kidnapping and raping two sisters in ohio. the victims were just 13 and 14 years old. none of the suspects are u-s citizens and police are not sure of their real names because their documentation is fake. police say they could be anywhere in the country. the attack happened at a hotel in bowling green, ohio. the sisters were able to escape their attackers and are now home safe. now... there is a nationwide manhunt for three people accused of kidnapping and raping two sisters in ohio. the victims were just 13 and 14 years old. none of the suspects are u-s citizens and police are not sure of their real names because their documentation is fake. police say they could be anywhere in the country. the attack happened at a hotel in bowling green, ohio. the sisters were able to escape their attackers and are now home safe. since june 23rd.. when they went out exploring after a soccer game and a monsoon started. the newest video we have shows them smiling which is good.. and in surprisingly good health actually for being in darkness with no food for 10 days til they were found. they've been getting nourishment and training on how to scuba dive cuz the plan is to lead them out.. maybe even have to do it before they're fully ready because big rains are supposed to start again on saturday. in the meantime... they're also continuing to pump water out of the caves.. cuz the area where they are is a little shelf and there's water up to the ceiling in the caves around them. these kids are 11-16, they're coach is only 25 years old.. none of them knows how to swim.. they're just a bunch of soccer players.. they're all asking the rescuers about the world cup... can you imagine how your kids would do in this?? to keep their sense of humor and composure and be strong in this situation.. they may have to stay there til october...
