mendocino county... has now grown to 865 acres with zero containment. it is burning just east of covelo. it started around 3:30 yesterday afternoon and mandatory evacuations have been ordered. ( james ) and the eel fire is the third fire burning in mendocino county... the other two fires have formed t mendocino complex that is threatening several locations in mendocino and lake counties. here is a look at exactly where those fires are burning this morning. so far they have combined to burn more than 80-thousand acres and forced the evacuation of several communities in and around lakeport. this is some of the latest video of that fire. so far 7 homes have been destroyed but thousands more are being threatened this morning. kron 4's will tran is live at an evacuation center in lake county this morning with the

( darya ) in shasta county... the carr fire has now burned more than 112- thousand acres. that's an area bigger than denver. it's now the 7th most destructive wildfire in state history. the carr fire killed 6 people and destroyed 965 homes. more than 25-hundred buildings are threatened. containment is up to 30-percent. ( darya ) and in mariposa county.. the ferguson fire has burned more than 58 thousand acres. and is now 33 percent contained. this fire has been burning for about two and a half weeks now. two firefighters were killed in this fire.

one building has been destroyed... but no homes have burned. the fire has also forced the closure of yosemite valley...through at least sunday. ( james ) firefighters are on the move in the south bay... and resources are being stretched to the limit. for every strike team that's left their home base... a crew from a nearby jurisdiction has to fill in. that means crews from morgan hill, san jose and spring valley near milpitas are handling terrority they normally wouldn't be responsible for. right now... 17 fires are burning across the state. ( lydia )dwight clark is one of the most beloved 49ers in history.he will be remembered here at grace cathedral in san francisco's at 11am this morning.(vo)members of clark's family and joe montana will provide remembrances during the service.dwight clark will forever be remembered for the iconic play known as "the catch"... his leap in the back of the end zone to make a fingertip grab of a game-winning touchdown for the 49ers during an nfc championship game against the dallas cowboys.that was in january 1982.in march 2017 clark announced he had lou

( darya ) police are searching for three men who ransacked a home in milpitas. the burglary happened on july 23... in the 1300 block of chewpon avenue. police say the men drove away in a black ford or toyota pickup truck. video surveillance of the burglary shows three men at the scene. ( darya ) this morning... we are learning more about the missing college student in iowa who is originally from the bay area. friends say mollie tibbetts was planning to travel to the dominican republic this week for a wedding. tibbett's boyfriend had joked with his brother about proposing to her at the wedding. tibbetts has been missing for more than a week. her brother is the last family member to see her

alive when he dropped her off at her boyfriend's house on july 18th. her boyfriend has been ruled out as a suspect. ( james ) the san francisco board of supervisors voted to prohibit pot shops in chinatown. at the meeting the supervisiors voted 8-3 to amend the city's planning code to prohibit the dispensaries.. whether recreational or medicinal from setting up shop. supporters of the ban say the booming marijuana industry will drive up commercial rental prices and force many chinese-owned businesses out of business. ( james ) new this morning... voters in marin county will decide in november whether to renew a half-cent sales tax to pay for transportation projects. the tax would be good for the next 30 years... áif it's renewed. the board of supervisors unanimously approved putting the sales tax measure on the ballot. the tax would raise 49-million dollars a year. ( darya ) happening now...the remains of u-s soldiers killed in the korean war are on their way back to the united states from north

korea. this is new video this morning out of south korea... showing the remains being carried onto a plane. vice president mike pence will meet that plane in hawaii later today. last week 55 cases of remains were delivered from north korea to the u-s base in south korea. u-s officials say it could take years to identify all of the soldiers. ( darya ) new this morning a health alert has been issued for salads and wraps that were sold at popular grocery stores including trader joe's and walgreens. the u-s department of food safety says the salads may have been contaminated with a parasite that can cause intestinal illness. the salads... which contained certain beef... pork and poultry... all had "best by" dates between july 18th and july 23rd... but doctors say it could take more than a week before people start feeling the symptoms. the symptoms

( james ) marin county fire officials are asking for the public's help to avoid a wildfire disaster like what happened to their neighbors to the north in sonoma and napa counties last october. residents might see one of these pamphlets show up on their front door.. warning them they are in a violation of defensible space. fire chief weber says the difference between life and death and properties saved or lost, can depend on the public being prepared to evacuate at a moment's notice, once the alert goes out.

( darya ) this morning... police are warning about a possible credit card scam in the east bay. over the weekend... alameda police officers discovered a card reader with a camera attached to it on an a-t-m. these are pictures of the a-t-m. police say a pinhole camera was being used to record people's pin numbers. experts say that the number of a-t-m's being targeted by these types of devices has increased by nearly 10% in a year. police say the best thing you can do to protect yourself is to take your transactions inside... morning... robberies and assaults are up nearly 30-percent on bart. and that's just over the last 6 months. now bart is facing a lawsuit. just after thanksgiving last year ... a man attempted to rob dave sibia of his cell phone and threw him on the ground while riding bart. sibia is suing bart for negligencesince the injuries to his wrist and neck prevent him from doing his job driving for uber.this lawsuit is the latest in a series of suits filed against the transit agency. ( darya ) bart says it hasn't seen the lawsuit but says it's taken steps to curb robberies and

two people are in critical condition... but they are stable. no one died. 103 people were on board the aeromexico flight. one passenger says she felt the plane hit the ground twice during the crash -- the second impact was stronger. she then saw flames in the cabin. the plane's manufacturer says it is sending technicians to the crash site to help investigators determine why the plane crashed. ( darya ) in san jose... police have arrested 2 people... accused of killing a man whose body was found last thanksgiving. billy ray scott was found dead in a ravine in santa clara county. he'd been missing since january. police say scott was likely killed inside an apartment dumped in the ravine. police have arrested eugene frazier and renee wilson. frazier is already in custody in monterey county. he's accused of attempted murder, kidnapping and torture there. ( darya ) in milpitas -- two people accused of stealing from a kohl's have been arrested. police say miguel tovanche and carmen

vargas took a cart full of merchandise through an emergency exit in kohl's. when store security chased after them... tovanche pulled out a gun and fired. milpitas police detectives caught up with the two in alameda a week later. ( james ) the playland museum in el cerrito is shutting down... to make room for more housing. some of you may remember playland -- the amusement park that once sat along ocean beach closed in 1972 to make room for condos. now the museum that houses most of the fun and games is closing. expected into the start of next week. along the coast 50's and 60's can be ( james ) a wisconsin man lost both of his legs from something that's so common.... being licked from a dog. according to doctors... greg manteufel got an infeection all over his body.. likely caused by batercia from the dog. the infection triggered a severe response in his body... sending his blood pressure down and the causing the circulation in his limbs to decrease rapidly. doctors say greg's case is simply a fluke. injured by a lava bomb on a tour boat in hawaii remains in the hospital... unbale to walk.. more than two weeks after the accident. 22-year-old jessica tilton said she remembers telling her family that they were getting dangerously close just before the lava bomb hit the boat. tilton was sitting closest to the railing.. and she says she leaned over to protect her sister who was sitting next to her. that's when a lava bomb about two feet in diameter hit her.

( james ) police are searching for three men who ransacked a home in milpitas. the burglary happened on july 23... in the 1300 block of chewpon avenue. police say the men drove away in a black ford or toyota pickup truck. video surveillance of the burglary shows three men at the scene. francisco board of supervisors voted to prohibit pot shops in chinatown. at the meeting the supervisiors voted 8-3 to amend the city's planning code to prohibit the dispensaries.. whether recreational or medicinal from setting up shop. supporters of the ban say the booming marijuana industry will drive up commercial rental prices and force many chinese-owned businesses out of business.
