new york city and if you've ever been there in a heat wave you know how miserable it feels.. on the street and in the subway... try playin a couple hours of tennis in that heat.serena sweat it out in her one sleeved tutu.. don't know if you can tell but she's wearing fishnet stockings. which are breathable so that's good.. way too hot for the superhero spandex catsuit.. it was 100 degrees.. so hot that they instituted the heat rule for the men! usually only the women get a heat break but yesterday everybody got 10 minutes to cool off between their 3 and 4 sets. wimbledon champ novak jokavich took full advantage... taking off his shirt.. in fact.. he and his opponant wound up side by side in ice baths: i don't have a picture of that but i'd imagine he stripped down to his speedo.. speaking of stripping down: a wardrobe malfuction has releaved a double standard in tennis:

french tennis player alize cornet came back from her heat break and realized her shirt was on backwards.. so she quickily turned it around without even taking off her shirt.. you know how you do.. but ah the horror!!! her exercise top was exposed!! so what. ? so a chair ump says: violation! inappropriate! really??? didn't brandi chastain settle this in 1999? it's not indecent: it's a sports top. and didn't we just see jokavich take his shirt off cuz he was so hot?? yup the rule is: men can change their attire while on the court, but women cannot. i cry foul. she didn't change her attire.. she twisted her shirt around. i think all the women should play in their sports bras for the rest of the u-s open to protest. if you're upset about the impeding raiders move.. does 250 grand make you feel any

better? they just donated 250 thousand to save youth sports in oakland. the district was gonna have to cut bolwing, swimming, golf, tennis.. maybe mark davis is thinking that will make up for killing pro-football. but vegas keeps whispering.. if you build it they will come... and if you do go to vegas to see the raiders, be prepared to walk.. a long way..we just found out,, the parking lot is four miles from the stadium. odds of tailgaters drinking and then hoofing it four miles in the vegas heat slim... so you're probably going to have to use the shuttle service or uber to the entrance.. at least oakland still has the a's.. and the a's have more than a chance to make it to october:yes i am... an even better chance this morning cuz they beat the astros 4 to 3 yesterday so now
9:52 am
the a's are just a game and a half back in the al west . plus, they have a 5-and-a-half game lead for the second wild card spot. unfortunately they won't have sean manea to help.. he's on the 10 day disabled list with a shoulder injury. hopefully it's minor and he'll be back before the playoffs. and what did i just say yesteday after the giants lost monday to the diamondbacks.. they were outta the playoffs.. well maybe i spoke too soon. if lloyd thought he had a shot with mary.. then the giants can do it.. after beating the d-backs 1 to nothing tueday, san francisco is now 6 games behind arizona in the nl west. even madbum admitted a lot has to go right for them and wrong for everybody else: the diamondbacks... dodgers and rockies would have to lose, lose, and lose... and the giants would have to get really hot.i'm saying it's unlikely.. lloyd. incarcerated lloyd!.. i like that one better.. from my favorite movie: "say anything" look it up kids) here's a cute baseball clip: some triple-a teams have bat dogs.. to retrieve the bats and balls.. look at this, they are so well trained that this dog jumped in when the batter put the bat down for just a second.. he had to fix his shoe or something.. so cute. reminds me of dusty baker's kid.. in the 2002 world series... darren baker was just 2 years old when he was the bat boy. the play was still going on and he went out to get the bat. he had to be rescued by j-t snow who was coming around third to score.
