( robin ) oakland police are releasing surveillance video and sketches that they say show persons of interest in a double-homicide back in 20-16. during a news ocnference yesterday... family and friends of craig cooks lined up behind police with his picture. police also released this video that shows the chaos the night that cooks and another person were killed. the shooting happened after cooks got into a fight with a group of people at a party. < as a result of that not only was he beat up but he was also shot. there was a number people out there that flooded the streets wants the gunfire erupted. people ran in all different directions. as a

result other people started another young man was shot and killed in that was terrence mccrery jr.he had the whole world in front of him and we're really hurting so any tips you can bring would be very helpful>( robin ) terrence mcrery was struck by a stray bullet. a thrid victim was shot but survived. police also revealed surveillance video of two men walking away from the scene. they are calling these two men persons of interest. they also released sketches of those people along with a third person who they are still trying to identify. ( robin )santa rosa police arrested four teenagers in connection to a violent assault at maria carrillo high school yesterday. this happened back on august 5-th in the parking lot of the school. police say three women and one man confrontd a girl about social media posts the victim made. investigators say they then started kicking and punching her while she was on the ground. police say one suspect tased the victim in the head. while the male

suspect pulled out a gun to deter anyone from trying to help the girl. ( robin ) happening today... a federal judge in san jose will hear arguments of 10 detained immigrants transferred from richmond to for-profit.. private immigration jails out of state. this comes a month after the contra costa sheriff announced his department was canceling its contract with ice. those tranferred are separated by hundreds of miles from family members, attorneys, and vital witnesses for their immigration cases who may be unable to travel, which in turn effects their cases. advocates have said transferring the detainees out of state is an abuse of power. ( robin ) along the u-s - mexico border... some latino- americans say the government is denying them passports... and even starting deportation proceedings against them. scrutiny and passport denials for those born near the border

began during the george w. bush administration and continued through the early days of the obama presidency. the issue stems from a government allegation that babies born in mexico were issued american birth certificates -- from the 1950's through the 1990's. attorneys say passport denials have surged under president trump. but the state department says there's been no change in the way it distributes passports. "a people's tribute to the queen" was organized by franklin's family. franklin won 18 grammy awards in a career that spanned more than five decades. she was also the first woman to be inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame, in 19-87. aretha franklin died of pancreatic cancer on august 16th. she was 76- year's old. story. death and destruction on a new mexico roadway.ray wilson/new mexico state police"speaking to the officers when they got here, it was chaos." authorities say a semi-truck blew a tire, crossed the median and hit a greyhound bus head-on.several fatalities were confirmed thursday.....and some survivors have serious injuries. voice of marc gonzales/witnessed crash"it was horrible. there was people trying to climb out of the windows of the bus, there were people on scene that were bystanders that were trying to help. people getting ladders out of their truck to get up to the windows."there were 49 people on the bus, including the driver.only one person was on board the truck.voice of marc gonzales/witnessed crash "as we went by, the overturned semi, i mean everything that was in the trailer was out on the road. it was a disaster." no word yet on what caused the truck's tire to explode.ray wilson/new mexico state police "that's why the crash reconstruction is here, they have specialized drones and

( robin ) a pedestrian was struck and killed in rohnert park by a sonoma-marin area rail transit train. it happened just before 5 last night. officers found a 29-year-old man laying away from the tracks.. he was pronounced dead on scene. witnesses say the man appeared to have headphones on... the train engineer sounded a horn but the man kept walking. ( robin ) in the south bay... a 16-year-old has been arrested for shooting 15-year-old near a school in san jose. it happened on monday on the 900 block of walnut woods drive... that's just two blocks from robert f. kennedy elementary school. the teen is expected to be okay.

( robin )a bill that would raise the standards for police use of force... has been put on hold. it was inspired by the shooting death of stephon clark... he was shot and killed by sacramento police in march. officers thought he was holding a gun-- which turned out- he was only holding a cellphone. sacramento bureau reporter ashley zavala explains why it's being stalled. ((pkg))no changes are coming this legislative session for the law that allows california police officers to use deadly force when they feel their lives are threatened. (assembly member shirley weber d-san diego)) "that was a little disheartening after the hard work of so many individuals and groups." initially the bill garnered a lot of attention.. after the death of stephon clark who was shot by sacramento police

during a foot chase.but the bill stalled in the senate senate president pro tem toni atkins said there wasn't enough time left in the session to address some of the concerns with the bill and get it passed between the two legislative branches. the california peace officers association and several other law enforcement groups had issues with the bill. ((shaun rundle- deputy director cpoa)) "some of the language alluded to using time, distance, communication and other tactics for deescalation but it didn't define what those were, so some of the thoughts were if an officer was engaged in a situaton where it led to lethal force being used, that they may be hesitant and second guessing themselves wondering, 'am i going to get sued over this?" lawmakers and law enforcement say they'll continue to work on the bill this fall. looking at issues of criminaliy, ( robin )a stockton teen is now home safe. she and a wrestling coach were missing for almost a week. deputies found phillip maglaya and a 16 year old girl. he's suspected of being in a romantic relationship with her. the sheriff's department says an anonymous tip led deputies to a house on mendocino avenue in stockton. the girl was found unharmed and has been reunited with her family. sheriff's deputies say it was a tearful reunion. the father spoke about their ordeal. ( robin ) investigators pointed out that even if the girl went willingly with the coach - since she is only 16 years old - it's illegal. maglaya is facing six charges including child abduction and is

( robin )fremont police say a driver suspected of being under the influence... came close to crashing into the police department building. the car hopped the curb on stevenson boulevard, and drove up a small hill -- almost hitting one of the landscapers. luckily everyone is okay. the driver has been arrested. ( robin )in national news... president trump wants to scrap a planned pay raise for civilian federal workers. in a letter to congressional leaders, the president said the increase would be, quote, "inappropriate", given federal budget constraints. an across-the board increase of just over two percent was slated to take effect in january ... despite trump's request, congress could ignore it by passing a spending bill that includes a federal pay raise. it's unclear if trump would veto any spending measure that

( robin )in santa rosa... surviellance video captured a group stealing thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from an apple store. it happened wednesday night at the santa rosa plaza mall. police say the thieves got away with 35-thousand dollars worth of electronics. authorities say just after 8 pm that night... three men wearing hoodies entered the apple store and grabbed anything they could get their hands on...then took off.you can see there were several people in the store when the crime took place.now police are hoping this surveillance video will help them identify the suspects. this comes just days after the apple store in walnut creek was raided. the crooks there got away with thousands of dollars worth of merchandise.

( robin ) a new bill a new bill could allow people to ride those rented motorized scooters you see all over the bay area... without helmets. the california assembly passed the bill yesterday and it is now headed to governor brown's desk. scooter company "bird" backed the legislation. recently the scooter rental companies have clashed with local government officials across the country as residents complain about riders rushing past pedestrians on sidewalks, not wearing helmets and parking scooters all over the place. predicts that a a new study predicts that a warmer world likely means more hungry insects and less food on dinner plates. insects now consume 10 percent of the globe's food. but researchers say that will increase to 15- to 20 percent by the end of the century if climate change isn't stopped. the study says the hotter weather would speed up the bugs metabolism so they'll eat more. "pull over to the side" it didn't take long to find a driver speeding... correia. i saw you on the phone. you didn't even see me. as well as someone on their cellphone. according to the national highway traffic safety administration each day

( robin )a warning this morning from the fda... about the dangers of eating foods prepared with liquid nitrogen such as ice cream, cereal or cocktails. the fda says several injuries have occurred from handling or eating products prepared by adding liquid nitrogen immediately before consumption...even after is has evaporated. the fda did not say how many reports of injuries it has received or provide details on life-threatening cases. although liquid nitrogen is nontoxic... experts say the extremely low temperatures it freezes food at can be dangerous. ( will ) it happened at balboa high school in san francisco...but a number of neighboring schools also went into lockdown... as the incident unfolded. students say, they thought a fireworks went off. san francisco police took one student, in a red sweatshirt, into the back of a patrol car. three other students are being questioned as possible accessories . balboa then went on lockdown, as did nearby leadership high school, denman middle school, and san miguel early education school.balboa students were evacuated to the football field... i thought it was a practice drill but when we heard the police sirens everything got real it is so scary i had to ask my job to

of robbing a woman at a berkeley bus stop have been arrested. the robbery was caught on camera. video shows the woman waiting at the bus stop with her cell phone in hand. that's when a car drives up and a man grabs the phone. the woman holds on and is briefly dragged by the car. this happened near ashby and martin luther king junior way. police arrested 18-year-old daevon laquan hudson.... and a 17-year-old boy. ( james ) a canadian mother and her 10-year-old daughter have been found and are safe this morning. 29-year-old audrey rodrigue and her daughter emily were reported missing monday... after flying into san francisco for a camping trip. yesterday afternoon... the san mateo county sheriff's office reported that they we're found safe. rodrigue had texted her boyfriend over the weekend and then no one had heard from them. rodrigue and her daughter, emily, are set to return home to canada today. prosecutors and the f-b-i are warning people affected by the mendocino complex fire to watch out for fraud. the f-b-i is teaming up with the north bay disaster fraud task force... which was created after october's firestorm. officials are warning victims to watch out for anyone pretending to be part of a cleanup crew. they're also urging people to be on the lookout for fake charities. ( darya ) under proposed legislation... california power companies would be able to raise electric bills to cover the costs of lawsuits from last year's deadly wildfires. the bill would also give utility workers job protection. the measure is set for votes in the senate and assembly today. critics have blasted the measure... calling it a bailout for p-g-and-e. p-g and-e expects to pay billions of dollars related to lawsuits after the north bay wildfires. bay... surviellance video captures a group stealing thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from an apple store. this happened wednesday night at the santa rosa plaza mall. police say the thieves got away with 35-thousand dollars worth of electronics. video shows 3 men wearing hoodies going into the store... grabbed anything they could get on... and then taking off. police are hoping this surveillance video will help them identify the thieves. and this comes just days after the apple store in walnut creek was raided. the crooks there got away with about 30- thousand of dollars worth of they then took off in a black mercedes s-u-v. ( james ) a developing story out of new mexico... a devastating head-on collision there has killed 7 people. authorities say a semi-truck blew a tire... crossed the median and hit a greyhound bus head-on. 49

( darya ) a big story this morning... oakland police are releasing surveillance video and sketches that they say show persons of interest in a double-homicide back in 2016. during a news ocnference yesterday... family and friends of craig cooks lined up behind police with his picture. police also released this video that shows the chaos the night that cooks and another person were killed. the shooting happened after cooks got into a fight with a group of people at a party. < as a result of that not only was he beat up but he was also shot. there was a number people out there that flooded the streets wants the gunfire

students say, they thought a fireworks went off. san francisco police took one student, in a red sweatshirt, into the back of a patrol car. three other students are being questioned as possible accessories . balboa then went on lockdown, as did nearby leadership high school, denman middle school, and san miguel early education school.balboa students were evacuated to the football field... i thought it was a practice drill but when we heard the police sirens everything got real it is so scary i had to ask my job to get out this is my only child and it is so scary one student suffered injuries not considered life- threatening however, that student's injuries, were not related to the gun discharging.

( james ) in the north bay... santa rosa police arrested 4 teens for a violent assault at maria carrillo high school. this happened back on august 5th in the parking lot of the school. police say three 18-year-old girls and a 17-year-old boy confronted the victim about her social media posts.

( james ) in the south bay... a 16-year-old has been arrested for shooting a 15-year-old near a school in san jose. it happened on monday on the 900 block of walnut woods drive... that's just two blocks from robert f. kennedy elementary school. the teen is expected to be okay. ( darya ) in the east bay... two people accused of robbing a woman at a berkeley bus stop have been arrested. the robbery was caught on camera. video shows the woman waiting at the bus stop with her cell phone in hand. that's when a car drives up and a man grabs the phone. the woman holds on and is briefly dragged by the car. this happened near ashby and martin luther king junior way. police arrested 18-year-old daevon laquan hudson.... and a 17-year-old boy. mother and her 10-year-old daughter have been found and are safe this morning. 29-year-old audrey rodrigue and her daughter emily were reported missing monday... after flying into san francisco for a camping trip. yesterday afternoon... the san mateo county sheriff's office reported that they we're found safe. rodrigue had texted her boyfriend over the weekend and then no one had heard from them. rodrigue and her daughter, emily, are set to return home to canada today. ( james )(ááálandingááá) new this morning... federal prosecutors and the f-b-i are warning people affected by the mendocino complex fire to watch out for fraud. the f-b-i is teaming up with the north bay disaster fraud task force. officials are warning victims to watch out for anyone pretending to be part of a cleanup crew. they're also urging people to be on the lookout for fake charities. ( darya ) a man has been arrested in the robbery and kidnapping of a san jose state university student. 20-year-old solomon bell was arested on wednesday. on august 22nd an 18-year-old student told police he was robbed at gunpoint by a man who forced him to walk to various a-t-m's and take out money. bell is being held at the santa clara county jail for robbery and kidding. ( darya ) a pedestrian was struck and killed in rohnert park by a sonoma-marin area rail transit train. it happened just before 5 last

( james ) happening today... a federal judge in san jose will hear arguments of 10 detained immigrants transferred from richmond to for-profit.. private immigration jails out of state. this comes a month after the contra costa sheriff announced his department was canceling its contract with ice. those transferred are separated by hundreds of miles from family members, attorneys, and vital witnesses for their immigration cases who may be unable to travel, which in turn effects their cases. advocates have said transferring the detainees out of state is an abuse of power. ( james ) along the u-s - mexico border... some latino- americans say the government is denying them passports... and even starting deportation

morning ... we have pictures of what the virus did to him. take a look. earlier this summer the 80 year old man was not feeling well. doctors say a mosquito carrying west nile got to him first before other ailment such as brain swellling, and meningitis took over. now the man's family wants to warn others that anyone can get sick from the mosquitos.
